Petite is usually a shorter cut of clothing. A dress will probably be a little shorter through the body and then shorter overall. I am 5’4″ and can wear petite. It depends on your height and body type if you could wear petite.

Petite is for height. Typically 5’4″ or under. If you are tall, I would pass. I am exactly 5’4″ and usually petite is a little short for me. Hope this helps.

Just thought I would comment about this dress. I bought this dress (@ 29.99!) about a month ago at store. Thought it was a great deal at that price! It really is great quality, I wear it all the time for work!! I work in retail – where black is a staple wardrobe color. I switch out belt, etc. and wear it over a black turtleneck, etc. (It is a thick material, probably not great for spring) GREAT value at this price! Just thought I would let you know my thoughts for those considering buying the dress
Get compliments on it all the time (more than other dresses I have bought at other retail stores) and I got it at Target!
