It is telling me that I have to order something and then “You’ll complete your Amazon Prime free trial sign up at checkout.” Am I doing something wrong? I don’t have anything I was going to order this very second…

  2. Steph

When I click the link for the free trial it takes me to a page and I need to click “get started” When I click that link it says nothing about a free trial but wants to know if I want to sign up and explains the $79 fee. Maybe this is because I did a free trial back in November of last year? I don’t see anything about a free trial?

    • Jessica

You can only do it once.

      • Steph

        Thats what I figured.

  3. Misty Nicole Overstreet

I used the free trial and then paid for the subscription, and its worth every penny!

Do you have to own a Kindle to borrow books? I read on my iPad and iPhone but I don’t have a Kindle device.

    • ohjodi

You can download a Kindle app for iPad, iPhone, your PC, Mac, and Android devices 🙂

You must have a physical Kindle. The Prime benefits do not apply to software Kindle readers

I initially did the free trial for Prime and then ended up keeping it. I love that I can borrow books to read on my Kindle. I’m a fast reader and it’s getting expensive to keep up with my habit. I also like the instant streaming of tv shows and movies. I have gotten to watch several shows that I missed when they originally aired. As for the cost, if you do even a moderate amount of ordering from Amazon, I think you could save on shipping costs.

I love Amazon Prime! Between the free 2 day shipping, free movies, free Kindle books which I can view on my Kindle and I-pad, it is more than worth the annual fee. I am sure my family spent more money in the past before we had Amazon Prime looking for items to add on to our orders in order to qualify for the free shipping deals. So having Amazon Prime has actually been a money as well as a time saver.

  7. shanel

I clicked the link and I was charged $79! 🙁

  8. Brittany

Well darn, I’m not eligible for the free trail since I just had a free 6 month trail of Amazon Student.

  9. Cindy W

When mine was a trial membership, I couldn’t borrow books from the Lending Library. You have to actually be a Prime member.

Prime is costly for impetuous shoppers! I’m now a Prime member and anytime I see something I’d like, it’s one-click and 2 days away.

Before Prime, I’d be sure I had $25 in orders so I’d get “free shipping”, so a lot of stuff went on my wish list, and was never purchased.

The streaming movies are OK, but they’re either quite old, or quite bad, or TV shows (where are the original WKRP episodes!). But they do look good with a PS3 at HD. So, I’m catching up on a lot of old stuff.

The Kindle benefits don’t work for me since I use Kindle only on my PC, phone and Nook… but no physical Kindle which is necessary for the lending library.

I’ll do this for a year, and if I’m not broke, I may keep it up.

Yes, the free 30 day trial is nice until 6 months later they “conveniently” renew it- after it was canceled. I had to fight with them all weekend to get my $79 back. I am no longer an Amazon Cpcustomer.

  12. karebearye

I was just reading on Bargainbabe that Amazon Prime has a new policy and you need to have $25 worth of items to get the free shipping. Anyone know if this is true? I haven’t ordered anything for less than $25 since Christmas.

    • Elizabeth

Then what is the point in having prime? IMHO the movies aren’t that great. A lot of people would jump ship if there was a minimum shipping amount.

    • Shop Now

That’s not correct. The $25 threshold is for non-Prime accounts. For Prime you get…
FREE Two-Day Shipping on eligible items.
FREE Standard Shipping on eligible items.
FREE No Rush Shipping for typical delivery one week after placing an order.

There are no minimums… (In fact, I received a $4.99 CD today with 2-day ship)

Of course item’s offered by 3rd party sellers, don’t receive Prime shipping.

This has worked out well for me in one area… bulk canned cat food, which incurs heavy shipping charges normally… No I can order with free shipping, and ALSO receive discounts for recurring orders.

  13. Ashley

I cant figure out how to get it. i get to the very last steps of checkout and i dont see where to finish signing up like it said when i clicked the link,
    Help me?

  14. Donna

Prime is great. I did a lot of my Christmas shopping via Amazon and got free shipping every time and I guarantee I saved the amount of the membership in shipping costs. They ship super fast too, even during the holiday rush. There is no minimum order amount required to get the free shipping. You can also set your account to not auto-renew once your year is up so you don’t get the surprise of being charged again once your membership is up. They will let you know when it’s time to renew, but I like the having the choice to renew rather than seeing an unexpected charge on my bank statement. I got a Kindle Fire for christmas, but I used the app for my phone prior to that and I really didn’t notice any difference in purchases except that I couldn’t borrow books with the app.

I have a gift card balance on my amazon account. Will this fee apply that balance to the auto membership fee and not hit my credit card on file (don’t want husband to know)?

  16. Ru

I live in the US.. If I order gifts for my family in the UK will amazin prime still deliver for free?

  17. leniesha

After the free trial can you keep the movies and shows that you already added to your watch list

  18. leon

does anyone know how to cancel?

    • jerry miller

amazon . why are you billing me for 1 dollar, if this is a 30 day free trial???

  19. Jason Cole

IF I DO THE FREE TRIAL, DOES IT PUT ANYTHING ONHOLD ON MY CREDIT CARD OR DO ANYTHING WITH IT RIGHT NOW?

  20. Marlon

I have a free trial membership of Amazon Prime and I ordered an item, it shipped for 2 days, but Im nervous if they charged on my Card?

  21. RR

Amazon will immediately hold a $1

  22. Jessi

If the trial is free, why do I have pending hold from Amazon Prime for $1.00?

  23. Kimberlie Kropff

Hi, just wanted to post on the great experience we had with the above campaign. Great customer feedback, improved brand awareness. Would definitely do it again.
