I spent way too much time trying to order from them this morning and the site keeps crashing and dumping the order. Also there are a lot of things showing that are sold out and it takes several minutes each time to find that out. I gave up!

I would be cautious with the cookbooks…I ordered a whole bunch last year and almost every book included a note saying that you were entered into their automatic book club…They would send notices that I would need to mail back saying ‘no thank you’ for almost every book I ordered and had to use my stamps to send them!…Buyer beware..

When I received one of these notices a couple years ago I just called shop taste of home customer service and asked them to cancel this. They did it over the phone and I never received another notice about it. I do wish they would tell you in advance that you are getting signed up but I guess that is one of their gimics for selling cookbooks at $5.

Many of the gadget items can not be added to your cart. It doesn’t say that they are sold out. When you click on the add to cart button you don’t get the message that they are sold out, you get “this item can not be added to your cart”. If it is sold out it should say that the item is sold out. I am sure that a lot of people are going to be very frustrated by this.

Additional warning about these books – I ordered 9 of them for gifts before Christmas. 7 of the 9 were damaged when they arrived. I’m wondering if these discounted books may be “rejects”. They did replace them with no problem, but just beware if you’re getting them for gifts.

I also ordered from this site and it was late for Christmas even though I ordered in early november. When I emailed them to see when they were coming no apology just offered to cancel. I was pretty upset they ddidnt let me know it was back ordered and wouldn’t be there by Christmas.

I had the same problem, they came over 2 months after I ordered them, after Christmas, and not all the books I ordered were delivered. Extremely disapointed!

This seems like a great deal, and would indeed make great gifts. However, there are so many FREE recipes on the web, I just can’t hardly bring myself to purchase a cookbook unless it’s a “yard sale” price. 🙂

BEWARE DOUBLE BILLING! Last time I ordered $60 of books. They came. I was billed. They came again. I was billed some more. Customer Service was useless, saying I would need to pay shipping to return them. I returned the books. Months later, still no credit back. And I compounded my mistake by using a debit card instead of a credit-card which left me with no options at all since I gave them access to the account. The bank (ENT) told me that the only way to legally keep them out of my account was to change my debit-card.

I have never had an issue with them. I have ordered multiple times for the $5 sale. When I receive my order I just call and tell them to cancel any auto shipments. I have never gotten any unwanted books.

I love these books, but fyi . . . Taste of Home has an awesome recipe database on their magazine website. Most of the recipes do not require subscriber sign-in.
