A cardiologist just told my uncle that this is the only oil everyone should be using. I haven’t tried it yet. This is a good deal and I can share with the family πŸ™‚ Is there any difference in taste? Any tipa for using it?

    • steph

this one shown has no flavor or smell. (which is what expeller-pressed means I think?) You do need to melt it as you need it. I use it for most of my recipes calling for oil.

Ive heard alot of good things about this but if i wanted to make eggs can this be used to add to the pan for a non stick?

    • IA Runnin Momma

Yes, I use the expleller pressed for things I don’t want to have a slight coconut flavor. I LOVE this coconut oil, and this is an amazing price. I use this for everything, eggs, veggies, in baking, in my oatmeal. SO many health benefits. I have used it as a deep conditioner, on my face and arms every night, dry hands…the list goes on!

Virgin Coconut Oil is great for your hair. I do my own hair treatment: two tablespoons of coconut oil, 2 egg yolks & 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. mix it well and apply to hair 20 before washing it. It’s amazing!

  4. rensee

u can apply on hair straight from jar?

    • mj

Yes, I am from India and back in India we apply coconut oil to our hair almost twice a week

  5. Melanie

Thanks I am making my own lotion bars and chapstick and needed to buy coconut oil so this post came just in time.

  6. Janel

Coconut oil makes the best homemade popcorn EVER. Its so crisp and flavorful. You dont even need to add butter or salt.

Trader Joe’s has Organic Virgin Coconut Oil 16 oz for 5.95

    • bt

Amber: Do they have expeller-pressed for the same price? Thanks!

  8. Dianne

I ordered the 2 coconut oils and a bag of their green rice for a $16.99 total…shipped free. Thanks!

I love love coconut oil. I made body butter with 4 oz raw shea butter, 1 1/2 oz coconut oil and essential oil. Awesome. I use it for all cooking and drizzle it on my autistic daughter’s dinner. It has helped her speech! Amazing stuff.

FYI everyone – this is NOT virgin coconut oil. It’s “expeller pressed organic” which is not the same. We bought this deal last time and now use it just for beauty purposes. Non virgin coconut oil doesn’t have the coconut smell or taste.

  11. summer

Yes, agreed Chris. I usually get organic extra virgin coconut oil from vitacost.com. But I got this last time for lotion, body butter, etc

  12. Nancy

Isn’t it a better deal just buying the gallon for $44 instead?

Awww.. Free shipping option not available for Hawaii. I really wanted this for my son, it helps with his itchy scalp. πŸ™

Launa, this is where I order coconut oil and they ship free to Hawaii: By far the best deal for Organic Coconut Oil that I have found (through lots of research and searching)! I ordered mine 5mths ago and am just now getting ready to order another. It is high quality, no taste, organic. They don’t charge shipping or sales tax either. It comes out to being 40% less than this Tropical Traditions deal.

This is the product page: https://www.pureformulas.com/coconut-oil-112-oz-by-omega-nutrition.html#sthash.WrzZrW58.dpbs

If you sign up through my link (https://pureformulas.com/?pdRewardsRef=RPJXHE) you can get an instant $5 off and it makes the tub only $22.97 shipped for 112oz as opposed to 4 of these jars, 64oz, for $25.

  14. Cristal

I have heard great things about coconut oil but don’t like coconut flavor and also heard that some kinds are healthier than others (cold or hot pressed??) Could anyone help me determine if expeller-pressed is what I want. I want the heath benifits but not the flavor?? TY

    • IA Runnin Momma

Expeller does not have the smell or taste of coconut- my hubby said it looks like crisco (eww). The virgin does smell and taste like it. I think both kinds have the great health benefits, if you read on their website, they have a great explanation of the diff kinds.

      • cristal

        thank you

just use it for lube like other people have mentioned lol

By far the best deal for Organic Coconut Oil that I have found (through lots of research and searching!) is buying the 112oz tub off of Pure Formulas. I ordered mine 5mths ago and am just now getting ready to order another. It is high quality, no taste, organic. They don’t charge shipping or sales tax either. It comes out to being 40% less than this Tropical Traditions deal.

    • Jane

Megan – I would love to order this through your link although when I get to checkout it does not have the instant $5 off. Is there a code or a different link needed? Thank you!

      • Megan

Hi Jane, when you click the link it takes you to the homepage. There is a green box that says “pure rewards” and you can click in there and create a free account. You’ll then get 500 points (equals $5 off). After you sign in, at the top it says “my account” and in there you’ll find that you have a 500 point credit that you can redeem toward your purchase. Hope that helps & thank you!

        • Ashley

Thanks Megan! i just ordered some using your link πŸ™‚

          • Megan S.

thanks Ashley – you’ll love it! I just ordered my second batch.

  17. Tracie

I can’t vouch for the above brand or the expeller pressed. I only use Cold Pressed (not refined, deodorized, or bleached) I’m here in Las Vegas and Costco has the Nutiva 78oz organic extra virgin coconut oil (the good stuff) container for around $21 and I use it for everything! I even use it when I fry pork chops or chicken strips it’s really a great deal.

  18. Lori

The “Gold Label” is not the one on sale for $12.50, bogo. It’s just the expeller-press. Just an FYI
