love this stuff! The face and eye primers are awesome. I also love the brushes and tools for the price, you can’t beat an eyelash curler for a buck. I have had stuff shipped from them before and everything came in great condition, nothing broken. love it!

Just beware that most of their stuff isn’t of the highest quality…I’ve never been impressed…

I previously went through on a deal from e.l.f and I was extremely disappointed. The products are very cheap quality which is probably why they are only a dollar. I spent over $15 at the time and ended up only having two products that I found usable. I literally threw the rest in the trash, that is how bad they were. Some came packaged broken, one container was sealed but was broken and opened on the inside, the lip gloss smells of chemicals like Pledge cleaner. Reconsider saving your $20 for a handful of quality items vs wasting it on 20 items that you wont be able to use. Just my two cents after previously buying from them, I won’t ever again.

Just a tip, my experience with e.l.f.’s customer service has been great! I received an eye shadow in my last order that had broken and the powder was all scattered inside the case. Emailed them telling them what happened, and they sent a replacement, no questions asked! Also, while a lot of their $1 stuff is lower quality, I swear by their Studio line! The brushes are my favorite and I love the mineral foundation. Sorry you had a bad experience!

I also highly recommend contacting customer service if there is any problem with your order. The items are only a dollar, but there are some great picks in the bunch. I’d recommend you tubing some videos prior to ordering..

    Are these trial size?

    • I.am.sam.

      Nope, full size makeup!

  5. Jamie

They have great mineral eyeshadows (both loose and pressed powder!), but stay away from their liquid felt tip liquid eyeliner. I just recently ordered them and they both came totally dry. Their oil-free full coverage concealer is pretty good too. ELF is hit and miss- some of their products aren’t very impressive, but others (like their mineral eyeshadow) is easily comparable to the expensive products! Just my two cents. Don’t be totally afraid to try their stuff as not all of it is “low quality”. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Kim

Funny, I actually LOVE their liquid eyeliner. Its all I use. But I got it from Target… maybe elf stocks them longer?

      • Jamie

Maybe! It was only $.50 (on sale), so I’m not too bummed. It was worth a try, anyways!

    • I.am.sam.

I also hated their liquid liners…I tried it out three or four times just because I wanted to love it, but each time I was so disappointed that now I don’t even bother ordering. I do love love love their small all-over concealer sticks used with their flat top powder brush!

    • Dani

I agree the felt tip isn’t great, well, it is great, it just dries out fast, but I LOVE the other liquid eyeliner-great for underneath the eye!!

  6. Ashley

I personally like their lipstick ( google for accurate swatches) and their gloss…I love the eyeshadow brushes that collin has in her cart. Many budget beauty bloggers like the eyelid primers too. Just some recommendations ๐Ÿ™‚ oh and I really like the eyesadow quads too…but make sure you pick up the primer with it!

I have a handful of E.L.F. products. From personal experience:
    1. zit zapper does nothing for me
    2. Undereye concealer and highlighter is okay… I only use the concealer part. But it does settle in the creases.
    3. tone correcting concealer… does nothing
    4. waterproof eyeliner pen is okay. Not as dark as I hoped and not fully waterproof.
    5. liquid eyeliner works great. No complaints.
    6. SPF powder foundation is okay. The powder isn’t very fine so wears off quickly.
    7. brushes work great for me.

So all in all… you really do get what you pay for. If you want a quality makeup that you will be pleased with this isn’t it. Maybe for a pre-teen type starter make-up. I recommend spending a few dollars more on something a little more quality made. JMO

I like their liquid eyeliner (not the pen) and their brushes, but don’t like their eyeshadow. I live by their clear brow gel. Haven’t tried much else…just my in put in case anyone is on the fence.

  9. Julia

I am sorry to hear that some of your experiences have been bad. I placed an order because I don’t use make up all the time. So therefore I don’t want to invest in an expensive make up that will just go bad sitting around the house. Yes, you may get what you pay for but it’s also a good way to try a new product out for a cheap price.

ELF products can be hit or miss. With that being said I have several items from them I love! There $3 brushes are great! The powder brush is a must! There Studio Makeup Mist & Set is a holy grail product for me! Their mineral blushes & baked blushes are gorgeous! Their pout perfecter gives you the look of beautiful full lips without the stinging like some products! Hope this helps anyone!

  11. Melissa

I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by some of the Elf products. I have their brushes and have found them to be much higher quality than some many I paid ten times more for. I also like the gel eyeliner.

  12. Danielle

I have been using their mineral foundation and am pleased with it. Not Bare Minerals but I feel a good product for only $5! I have also used the $1 lipgloss and would purchase again. No, these aren’t the same as the really expensive makeup but for me it is worth it to pay less for something that works and fits in my budget.

  13. Lindsay

I have some of the brushes, love them. And the eyelid primer I use every day, love it!

That’s really the only thing I buy from ELF.

  14. joannacullen

I like E.L.F but agree with others that it is hit or miss. I ordered some things even though I didn’t really *need* anything. I’m hoping for a good mystery bag!!

  15. Cara

I love their lipgloss and foundation brushes.

  16. Emily

    I like their stuff.
    The eyeliner is great
eyebrow lifter & filler is awesome
blush lasts pretty long and it’s not too sparkly (which I hate)
Zit zapper works fine…it’s just salicylic acid.
The only thing is that their concealers are a bit dark.

  17. Valerie

I would agree it’s hit or miss. I am addicted to the shiny gloss in the soft tubes, I have tons of them! I live where it’s really dry and these go the distance. I also like the liquid eyeliner (I store it upside down so the tip stays moist), eyelid primer, brushes and the duo pencil sharpeners are awesome! They also have cool lotion wipes that are great for traveling because they aren’t a liquid so not subject to the FAA regulations of 3 oz.

  18. Amy O.

Don’t waste your money most of these items are this same price alone at Target. Be very cautious of cheap makeup like this, you DON’T want to know what its made out of ๐Ÿ™

  19. Amy O.

However their makeup brushes are totally worth the cost they are like 1.00 -3$ a piece!

  20. Joanne

If you spend $50, they add a magazine subscription that you can decline and rebate for $20 back… that means $50 payed, $20 gift, $20 rebate, $70 worth of product for $30 end cost! Great to stock the female gift baskets!

  21. Erin

Here are the products worth getting: Studio High Definition Powder $3, hides fine lines, reduces shine, Studio Mist and Set $3, gets rid of the powdery look, Studio Mineral Infused face primer $6, it’s good, I have combo/oily skin, Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder $3 (Nars blush dupe), Studio Complexion Brush $3 for blush, Studio Powder Brush $3 for liquid and cream foundations. The $1 eye brushes are good too!

  22. Amanda

If you are wondering which ELF items are better than others, check out Paula Choice’s beautypedia.com site. I have found most everything she says to be true, and I love ELF’s 1 dollar black eyeliner, plus several other products.

  23. Emma

I think it’s a great way for my pre-teens to try out some different colors and style for a cheap price. I also bought some for my 4 yr old who want to be “just like her big sister” (birthday present). Thanks for the heads up!
