Do you have a stack of unused gift cards in your kitchen, junk drawer, cookie jar or collecting dust on your desk?! If so, consider selling those unused gift cards for cash!

As I mentioned earlier this month, Raise.com is a great place to go to purchase discounted gift cards for popular retail stores, restaurants, and more. In addition to buying gift cards, Raise.com is a great place to go to sell your unwanted gift cards to other shoppers. You can sell physical gift cards, E-gift cards and merchandise credit with a minimum of $20 on the card; the cards may be partially used and do not need to have an even balance.

Here’s what you need to do to get started:

* Gather up all your un-used and unwanted gift cards

* Head over here and create a Raise.com account

* Visit the Sell Gift Cards page.

* Enter the required info (Gift Card Retailer, Serial Number, PIN Number etc.). Keep in mind that all gift card serial numbers and pins are kept private at all times. You’ll also need to note the gift card balance and your selling price (depending on the brand, gift cards sell the fastest when discounted 3% to 30%). You can always choose to adjust the price if your card is not selling.

* For each gift card sale, Raise.com does take a flat 15% commission of the gift card sale price. They also charge an extra $1 per physical gift card sale (e-gift cards do not have any extra fees). You are only charged a fee when your gift card sells; if your gift card does not sell, you will not be charged.

* If you are selling a physical gift card, Raise.com covers all shipping fees and provides prepaid shipping labels for letters and parcels (they just ask that you ship your gift card letters and parcels within 3 business days).

* You can select to be paid by Check Payments or PayPal.

Special Note: Raise.com verifies every seller and approves each sale on their site. You can verify your account through the seller verification tab on the My Account page or when you list your gift card. There is a $1 pre-authorization credit card charge for validating each account. All authorizations will be reimbursed between 24-72 hours

Come back and let us know what card(s) you list and sell!

Raise.com offers up discounted gift cards for restaurants, retail stores and more (perfect to help you save even more at the register since you can combine store coupons, sales and cash back sites with these discounted gift cards)!

Even sweeter, new customers can snag $5 off of a $75 purchase with the promo code HIP2SAVE at checkout (this code is valid through the end of March). Note that there are no fees to buy these gift cards (they don’t charge sales tax, shipping costs or processing fees!). Physical gift cards will be mailed through USPS (and arrive between 3-14 days) and E-gift cards become available in your Raise.com account within 1-2 business days.

On a side note, I love to snag discounted Starbucks Gift Cards from Raise.com to help me save even more on my frequent coffee runs. At this time, there are quite a few Starbucks e-cards available that range in value from $50-$500 and are discounted as much as 18.3% off. If you’re interested, be sure to snatch one up now as quantities are limited.

I have used this site before – you can go through Shop@Home to get cash back! Usually Plastic Jungle and Cardpool have better percentages, but this site has GCs that are more “rare” like Subway and Dave & Busters.

User review: I purchased a Michael’s gift card for things I was going to purchase over the 2012 holiday season (got a $35 gift card for $20-something I believe).. got GREAT customer service when I called with questions. Gift card took about 10 days to arrive.. and was a merchandise store credit. Would def. recommend.

So to piggy back on the shopathome coment. I also bought a cabelas gift card last time this was posted and I went through shopathome. I then went to the Cabela’s website and bought a physical gift card using the egift card and had it sent to my home so we could use it in the store. I also went through shopathome for that transaction too and was able to double up on the cashback reward. Not all stores will do this though. I would double check but worth a try. I am thinking about doing it again. Thanks for the post.

Can you only use the e-cards online? I have never bought gift cards from any of these sites before! Thanks 🙂

If you buy an e-gift card directly from the retailer, you can normally print it out and use it in the store. However, every time I have bought an e-gift card from one of these sites (Plastic Jungle and Raise), I was just given a code and a pin. Therefore, I was not able to use them in the store. HTH!

I normally use Cardpool. When I bought an e-gift card for Home Depot, I just bring the paper with the code and pin to the store and the cashiers key it in with no problem. HTH!

This is how we pay for our Starbuck’s habit 🙂 We’ve bought about 7 GC and no issues.

Thanks for all the comments about the site…I have never heard about it before. I always like to hear feedback on new places because I went through a random site to sell my old cell phone, and it was a complete nightmare!

Seems like a good site to buy GCs. However, they are charging a whooping 15% commission on GC sales. Giftcards.com, cardpool etc offer much better percentages for selling gift cards. I have a few Target and CVS gift cards I am willing to sell at a 7% and 10% discount respectively. Email me if anyone is willing to buy. The amounts vary from $25 to $200. umezbhatia @ gmail dot com

After plastic jungle went out of business 🙁 i though i’d try something new, and was browsing around for an alternate and found this site called giftcardspread, and realized they let u choose your gift card delivery method. Since i was going to chili’s that evening, i brought a $50 card and selected “electronic delivery” at checkout, got my code in 20 minutes, and saved 11% 🙂
i think this is a gud alternate for someone like me who doesn’t pre-plan their shopping trips.

I’ve used Raise once before, but after having a issues with the value on the gift card I received I decided to switch to Gift Card Rescue. Haven’t had any issues with them and often find that their payout rate is much higher than that of Raise. I find that discounted gift cards are a great way for me to save!
