Anyone else think that our military men and women deserve more than 10% off? Just saying…..

    • christine

They don’t have to offer anything… no matter what a company does to help it will never be enough smh.

    • Em

Speaking from a military perspective, we don’t “deserve” anything but our paycheck. We appreciate the 10%, but it is not expected. We volunteered for various reasons (pride in country, etc), not free stuff.

Though I agree all discounts are truly appreciated…but not deserved. Most all people contribute something for their Country…Much rather have the prayers for our families…brothers and sisters at arms.

I was super excited to get a banner for my daughter and while I am appreciative that there are offers out there for all the Vets, the free banner had $13 shipping. Twice as much in shipping than the banners I’ve ordered from other sites.

I am retired US Army and I went to Home Depot today and had almost $200 in merchandise and the so called 10% discount came out to being 50 cents. Apparently the bar code that the cashiers uses is programmed to exclude any products that are on sale. The 50 cent discount was for a package of gloves. So no we don’t deserve a 10% discount, but when a company advertises something like this they should not then turn around and not give it. I talked to the acting store manager and he blamed Home Depot corporate for creating the issue because they are the ones who sent out the bar codes that the store use. I told him I felt that corporate did not intend the discount to be applied this way and that I would email corporate about my experience which I have done. I told the manager that he lost a customer and he could keep the merchandise and I ended up leaving after returning the merchandise for a refund. I shop at Lowes and they offer a 10% Military discount and they do not restrict it to only regular priced merchandise so from now on I am going to Lowes.

Home Depot did that to us during the Veteran’s Day discount. When we wrote to Home Depot Headquarters we got the same bull. It is listed as a certain discount and then they bring up fine print. It’s a big come on.

Just letting you know – Home Depot and Lowes give a 10% discount to military everyday (on non-sale items). At least, they offer this discount in Utah and I’m sure in many other places to.

As I reported yesterday the store by me in South Grand Prairie Texas would only give the discount on regular priced merchandise. To me that makes no sense. Why would anyone buy a regularly priced product unless they just absolutely had too?

Has anyone tried the Big Mac offer? Our local (West MI) is not doing it. It is a corporate, not franchise one too. I noticed the details in the ad said nytristate, so this may mean NY area only. Just curious.

We went out to breakfast this morning and while waiting on our food a man and woman walked in, he has on his old Navy jacket and hat on. We told our waitress that we wanted to pick up their check. After eating, we paid for our meals and theirs and left. Morel of the story, you don’t have to wait for someone else to provide a discount or do something for our vets, you can do it yourself. They put their life up for us, what have you done for them. And it doesn’t have to be just on special days.

did you mean to post the Memorial Day specials under “photo deals” ? Just curious…I believe some of the Memorial Day specials might be photo deals, but most are not & there are a lot to scroll through to see only photo deals =) No complaints though…always better to have too many deals than not enough!
