Not sure what to do with all the FREE Flavor Packets you may have in your pantry!? Check out this idea from reader Andy –
I’m trying to figure what to do with them all since I have a bunch. This weekend I melted marshmallows and added couple strawberry shortcake frosting creations then added the Rice Krispies. The Rice Krispie treats tasted really good my kids loved them! 🙂
(Thanks, Andy!)
I made a recipe that called for using one of these packets, but I didn’t want to shell out for the “base” frosting (or whatever it’s called), since it’s generally more expensive than other canned frostings. I just added the packet to Pillsbury vanilla frosting that I had on hand and it worked perfect. I’m guessing you can even just use your own homemade frosting recipe.
Yep! I made frosting from scratch, then add these packets in place of vanilla extract. If too dry just add a bit more milk.
You can sprinkle the flavor packets on your popcorn for an extra special sweet treat!
I plan on adding it to whip cream/ cool whip to make edible paint for the kiddos. 🙂
You can add them to the cool whip, then freeze it for ice cream. (It works w/ sugar free jello for a treat while watching your weight.)
Thanks for sharing all your great ideas ladies, I have a bunch of these packets and I didn’t know what to do with them!
I have to lol at the comments about having a bunch of these, yet not knowing what to do with them. Why did you get them in the first place? Anything free, I guess.
If you are using $5/30 on your groceries and need a dollar or two to reach it. These are a great filler without spending anymore money out of pocket.
There were coupons making them free, so trying different flavors for free is a plus. I really dislike negative comments like yours. I guess you would’nt try something for free if you didn’t know if you liked it or not. I actually have 30 of these free flavors. Laugh on that!!!
Cannot believe for one second that Duncan Hines intended one person to get 30 of these for free.
We use them to color and scent our homemade playdoh and also make water color paints with them also.
I tried the chocolate almond this morning. I mixed it with my coffee grounds before brewing. I love it !
I just tried the link and it said out of prints
I will have to try out the rice Krispy recipe did it have a strawberry taste?
Several times now I whipped up a basic recipe for vanilla ice cream, leaving out the liquid vanilla I usually put in. Since then… I have tried the peppermint, bubble gum and mint chocolate. My only negative comment about using these packets is that some of them are seasonal. Which means I am going to have to wait to try out some ideas for waffles…. pumpkin spice, maple….
