so please don’t think I’m dumb for asking this but I never fly and we’re flying this summer. Is this something that could go on as carry on for my 5 year old?
absolutely
Sure, but it will not hold much. You would do better if luggage space is important to you (to save on checked bag fees) to get a regular size carry on. It would be more room, but if you want a cute back, this is cute. It depends on what you want. I want size and duraility when flying with my kids, but that is me! 🙂

My daughter has a cute carry on from Target – no, it doesn’t hold as much as mine, but she wheels it herself and packs her clothes in it herself, so we are always cool with it being her carry on — she’s 4 and has has it since age 2. It looks like it would probably hold more than these, but never underestimate the appeal of a cute bag they can wheel rather than you having to lug one more!:)
