I had this one, and I was really disappointed 🙁 Does not work for pet hair at all, and eventually didn’t work for anything.

My house is mostly tiled. It picks up everything: cat hair, cat litter, cat kibble, sand and fine dust. I love it. It even works well on my carpet for surface cleaning. Since it doesn’t have a beater brush it can’t deeply clean the carpet like a regular vacuum. My only complaint is that you have to clean the filter often, or it will lose suction. My solution: I ordered extra filters at Bissell.com for $2.99 each (plus 10% off and free shipping). Now I can just take the dirty filter out, pop a clean one in and continue vacuuming, and empty the filters all at once when I’m done. It is so light and easy to use. Considering the cost, it was well worth the $15 investment, and the cost of the extra filters. I’m very happy with mine.

Thanks for the input, I need a new vacuum cleaner and was going to try. May spend a few extra dollars for something sturdier then.

ptd, I have very good luck w/the Electrolux brand, wouldn’t get any other.

On a side note, while it works well for me on my hard wood floors, it is also the only “white noise” that put my baby to sleep! We did a lot of vacuuming in the first few months.

In my opinion, save your money. This vacuum is awful. I only use it for hair in the bathroom at times, that’s about it.

If anyone has any suggestions for an inexpensive, small vacuum for hardwood/linoleum (living room & kitchen), I’d appreciate it. I’ve been using a dust mop and my Dyson but it’s kind of a pain, and the Dyson doesn’t really seem to like picking little “bits” off hard surfaces.

I have a Eureka Quick Up that I’ve had for a couple years now that works great for me!

I gave this one to my now 4 year old autistic son who loves to vaccum… He was 3 when he got it for his birthday…best present ever he can push it around and help me clean too!

    • Christine

That is really cool. I have 2 kids with autism and they both hated the vacuum noise at that age. It no longer bothers my 13 year old but my 8 year old needs to go to a different room. God Bless!

The shark vacuum was the best vacuum purchase that I have ever made. I will never get another brand after seeing how well this one cleans. Save your money and get a better vacuum. Bissell vacuums are junk.

Just curious which shark you have…in the market for something new!

I have a Eureka The Boss SmartVac Pet Lover Model 4870SZ. It’s a large upright with onboard tools. It does a GREAT job of picking up pet hair but it is rather noisy and very heavy. It’s definitely not a vacuum that would be easy to take up and down stairs. I bought it abt. 2 1/2 yrs. ago at Best Buy and paid $135. (on sale) I thought I would look into getting the Bissell 3 in 1 for quick touch-ups but if it doesn’t pickup pet hair then it wouldn’t be any good for me – I have kitties.

So I broke down and purchased one of these. Even if it didn’t work great as an upright, I figured $15 isn’t bad for a dustbuster. (Years ago, I puchased a $60 or $70 Dustbuster that was a complete waste of money; it quickly lost suction as well as its ability to charge, but I like having one for quick cleanups, like when my pepper grinder exploded–sigh.) Well, I haven’t had a pet for a year, and I DO have a Dyson Animal, and judging by the contents of the Bissell, my Dyson didn’t do the best job on pet hair! I am thoroughly impressed with this vacuum. It works perfectly for my needs–the crumbs the kids drop and a quick pass through the kitchen and in front of the doors. It is super light (and admittedly looks and feels cheap) and is as quick and easy to use as a dustmop, but better because it doesn’t stir up dust.
