“I have had this vacuum for the past 6 yrs and I would buy it again in a minute! It has cleaned up beautifully after a dog and 4 boys.”

“I’ve got this exact model and have had it for about 6-7 years. It is AWESOME! It still has excellent suction and amazes me with how much dog hair it picks up after all these years.”

“I got this same Dyson for about $300 a year ago (it was refurbished). LOVE it. I used to clean houses for a living and I’ve used every vacuum imaginable, Dysons are the best (IMO). I used to replace a $100 vacuum every 3 years, so I finally just got a Dyson figuring it would be an investment if it lasted (an investment for the vac and for my carpets!).”

Before you sink this much money in a vac, be sure to take the time to read the reviews and rec from Consumer Reports. You will be surprised how this vac compared to less expensive models.

I price compared at the Dyson website. It looks like this is an older model because it’s not available on their website. But it does have the DC33 for $299 though Aug. 18.

Love, Love, Love my Dyson. We’ve been married over 30 years and have had numerous vacuum cleaners, including an electrolux. The Dyson is hands down the best by far. It’s about 5 years old now, and still works as well as it did when it was brand new.

I have had this very vacuum for about 7 years now. It still is my all time favorite vacuum, hands down. I’ve owned 3 Eurekas, a Hoover, and a Fantom. I have had to buy replacement filters but never had it break down or need anything done to it. Would highly recommend it.

I own this vacuum in the newer model. I love it! The cord is very long making vacuuming room to room much easier. The attachments are unique and have odd shapes so cleaning curtains and ceiling fans is a breeze. The amount of fine dust it picks up is unlike any vacuum I have owned. Would recommend this to anyone.

Dyson is trying hard to grab customers from Shark. The Shark Navigator is the same technology for half the price!

I own a Dyson and it is by far the best vacuum I have owned. I do have some negatives on it however. I do not have carpet in most of my house, but use this on all of my bare floors, plus I use the hose wand to vacuum all of my corners up to the ceilings etc. I use the hose a lot. HOWEVER — I have had to replace the hose 2x and I have only owned it for 3 years. So this is the (3rd) hose that has been on it counting the original one. I do feel that for a vacuum this expensive they need to get a higher grade hose. The plastic rips and you can only tape it so many times

It looks like it is up to $415 now.

I wanted to give my opinion on my Dyson. I have a Dyson DC 24 Ultra Lightweight bagless ball vacuum and I don’t like it at all. I bought it based on comments on Hip2save but it turned out to be a purchase I regret. The pickup isn’t good, it blows dirt out the side of the pathway and ends up stirring up dust particles. That’s very bad as my son and I both have allergies and this vacuum ends up stirring up dust particles. I can’t even use it without it irritating my allergies. It’s my only Dyson but I’m not tempted to try any others based on the one I have. It was a $400 vacuum and works like a $60 vacuum. Give me a hoover with a hepa filter any day over my Dyson!

Wow. what you describe doesn’t sound anything like my dyson. I purchased it because of allergies and love that NO dirt comes out anywhere.

One thing I notice about many Dyson models is the ratings tend to be very polarized, either 5 stars or 1 star. Maybe because of our specific sensitivities to dust due to allergies, I am more aware of the blow-back issue of vacuums, but I’m on the 1 star end of the spectrum for my Dyson. The only pro I can give it is that it is lightweight and easy to maneuver, but if someone is really sensitive to dust particles, I’d be very cautious about a Dyson. Even if you read through the reviews for this model linked today, you’ll see the reviews are polarized, with lots of people regretting the purchase. Not trying to be hard, just wanted to give another side to the story as I do regret my Dyson purchase.

I love my Dyson! It comes with a 5 year warranty. I broke mine by stepping on it by accident and they fixed it no questions asked for FREE!!!!! I don’t even sweep anymore, nothing picks up dust and dirt better than my Dyson.

I’ve had this model for about 7yrs, not one issue!!! knock on wood, i’m now in a house with only carpet in the livingroom and needless to say i would buy this again hands down! I love that you can turn the brushes off and do non-carpet floors as well. (maybee thats where the dust blowing out the side if i don’t turn off the brush on the hard floors it does move the dust dirt around!) Anyhow i’ll be sad the day it takes a plunk but for 7 yrs and never having to do anything other rinse the filter it was well worth the money paid!

    • sandra

That’s definitely not the issue with my model, it blows dust out of the side of the brush path (not the front) on hardwood floors with the brushes off. It’s a design issue.

    Cleaning stuff is cool.

I purchased my Dyson when it was listed on HTS during the Christmas Holidays. This is by far one of the worst purchases I have every made. I absolutely hate my Dyson! It is so not worth the money – not even the sale price I paid for it. It simply does not perform very well. Very poor quality! I will never purchase another and would not recommend a Dyson to anyone.
