Glass Half Full and Meet Murray…
To be quite honest, I really don’t have any low to speak of this week. However, I am trying to focus on waking up each day and not taking any moments for granted. So on those days when I wake up in not the most cheery of moods, I remind myself of all the little things that I have to be grateful for. The glass is always half full.
As for my high this week, it is most definitely the lovable furry creature pictured above and below. Meet Murray – the newest addition to our family. We were lucky enough to bring Murray home earlier this week from the Idaho Humane Society – he is a 6-year-old lab who loves to go on runs, play in the water and of course, lay around the house. We are all having a blast with our new dog! 🙂
[h2s_box]Every Wednesday, I share my high(s) and low(s) for the past week and I encourage you to do the same in the comment section below. My high(s) will simply be the best or most exciting thing that happened to me over the last week or so and my low(s) will be something not so great that took place. [/h2s_box]
So happy for you Collin. He will be your new BFF!
Congrat’s on your new addition. It’s nice to see a 6 year old dog get adopted. Most times they are overlooked for a puppy. He’s adorable, and I’m sure he’s very happy!! Start calling the pet food mfg’s. They will be happy to send coupons and samples if you ask. I do it myself. With 3 German shepherds in my home, it’s helps a lot.
Murray looks so sweet
Awhh, Your Murray looks Just like my Sugar Bear.
May you be blessed for adopting a 6 year old…we rescued Sugar at 5 weeks. She has been with us for 8 years and is without a doubt FAMILY
Congrats on your new addition to the family! You have just made Murray the happiest dog in the world by giving him a beautiful forever home.
We have a 5 year old chocolate lab named Abby. She is a wonderful part of our family. A dog makes a house a home.
Rescue dogs are the best. We rescued our doxie at 3 years old and have had her for 3 1/2 years. She is the love of our lives. Murray is a cutie. You are blessed.
High – My son (10) learned how to do a backflip on the trampoline. Although this may sound silly to some, it’s something that he’s been working at trying to do and seeing his face as he accomplished his goal was just priceless.
Low – My daughter’s father may have lost his job, but he is estranged from us so there’s no way for me to confirm that. If he did, his child support will stop and I pay over $1000/mo in childcare. What he gives me in child support doesn’t even cover all of that, but it certainly helps. I work full time to support my family, and I’m trying to go to nursing school full time. If his child support stops, I will have to drop out of school. :*( I won’t find out for sure for another 2 agonizing weeks.
Don’t let this hiccup stop you from your dreams of nursing. It took me 22 years to finish school and when I did it was awesome. Keep the dream, have hope and enjoy life even if he flakes on you. God bless you for being a hard working momma!
We got our yellow lab, Ryder, when he was 1 1/2 – we’ve had him 13 months and he is AWESOME! The sweetest dog on 4 legs. After seeing how he is with my 4 yo son, I am sold forever on labs!
I love the fact that you rescued!!!! Both of my labs are rescue as well.
They are forever appreciative!!
Chocolate Labs are my favorite breed! He is so cute. They are such fun and goofy dogs. I have an 8yr old female chocolate lab. Enjoy.
CONGRATULATIONS! 🙂
As theanimalrescuesite.greatergood.com says…”until they all have a home”!
THANK YOU! for rescuing that sweet dog! I know he will bring your family such joy and happiness!
Good for you for adopting an older dog! We adopted a beagle when he was 6. Older dogs are the best…you don’t have to worry about potty training or teething (and all the chewing that goes with it). It looks like he’s found his forever family!
labs are my favorite of all. I hope he proves a worthy friend and protector. so cute so adorable!
Thank you for saving him! I have adopted several times from the Idaho Humane Society and it makes me feel good EVERY time!!
Thank you so much for adopting a rescue dog and helping to save a life. There’s a special place in heaven!
We rescued a dog about a month ago and she is the perfect addition to the family. I kinda felt back not getting my kids a puppy but when we explained about that puppies potty everywhere and chew everything and that “Dixie” needed a home they wanted to keep her. It is great she came potty trained, had all her shots, spayed and great with kids!!! SHe is about 2 years old so she is still puppy like without the mess!
thank you so much to you and your family adopting an OLDER dog! he will love you all unconditionally as you truly saved his life. he is beautiful – – labs are amazing!
What a beautiful thing to do for Murray. Only a kind hearted and special person can give an older animal a second chance! <3
What a fantastic thing to do and to take the opportunity to remind your readers that there are great dogs available at the shelters. Good luck with Murray. Your daughter looks very happy with her new buddy and Murray looks very relaxed at home.
Murray is just awesome! I have 2 labs – a chocloate that is 8 and a yellow that is 1, They are my babies and I enjoy them so much. So glad you were able to save Murray and give him a wonderful new home. He has hit the lottery!
Big Congrats to you and your family on adopting Murray, love the name. He will be unconditional love to you everyday.
Oh Collin ~ both of their sweet, contented faces brought on tears over here! He’s so happy :)))) and your kids are undoubtedly thrilled. We adopted a year old Rottweiler from a Rottie rescue in February. Despite many people’s pre-conceived ideas about this breed, they make amazing, loyal, gentle family dogs ~ much like Labs. I have many pics just like yours with my kids draped all over him! He lived in a tiny back yard and was left on a lead for up to 14 hours a day ~ not good for a breed that thrives on companionship. He now has an acre back yard and comes in and out when we do. He, too, is a happy boy.
My high ~ been at the glorious Texas coast for 4 weeks now enjoying my family. My view out my window as I type is breath-taking.
My low ~ Headed ‘back to reality’ on Sunday. Not such a bad low, though ;)….
I wish I could be on the TX coast!!! My daughter is there, registering today as a Freshman at Texas A & M Corpus Cristi. Sigh…. I am in California.
Congratulations Collin! He looks so sweet. We had a Chocolate Lab for 14 years. He was the best! Now we have a Black Mouth Cur that was rescued from the side of the road in TX. 🙂
Thank you for rescuing! It is nice to see a lovable grown dog get a loving home.
Your new addition is ABSOLUTELY adorable!!! I’m having a week of nothing but HIGHs. (: Even my lows are high. Praise God.
Aww!!!!! I am sure he will LOVE having a home and you will LOVE him. Labs are such great dogs and they love children. Bless you for adopting an adult dog!
I used to think the glass was half full until one day someone pointed out to me it’s always full…and they were right. 🙂
Aww, I love it! We just lost our beloved chocolate lab, Ellie, in April and seeing Murray brought a huge smile to my face!
Hi Collin!
Murray is so sweet! I was wondering if you are going to do a new house tour any time soon? I love your decorating ideas and can’t wait to see some new ones!!! Thanks for your site, it has saved my family so much money!
