And check out the emails that I recently received from two Hip2Save readers…

[h2s_box width=”2″ style=”solid” color=”#000000″]From reader, Julie in Boston, MA: Head’s Up! My Walgreens store has its own clearance section… Manager knows me well and told me all Walgreens are starting mark downs to 85% to make room for Halloween items. I spotted great deals in clearance area and throughout the store. Thought you would want to let your Hipster’s know.

Last night at Walgreens I found the BIC round stic pens in the school stuff clearance aisle. They are normally $2.29 and were marked down to 57¢. Ibotta has a $0.50 off Bic round stic pens (8ct or larger). The Ibotta image shows a box and I thought I would never find a good deal since I could not find the 8 ct but stumbled upon these as I was walking to the checkout to purchase other things. So after Ibotta I got an 8 ct black pens and a 10 ct (8ct + 2 bonus pk) blue pens for .07 each. My husband has Ibotta too so I did 2 transactions. I know this may be regional but thought I would let you know about it so others could be on the lookout 🙂 [/h2s_box]

How about you?! What Clearance Finds have you snagged at Walgreens?!

quick questions on the walgreen rewards points:
    1. say you have $9 reward balance and are paying for $5 purchase? will you have $4 left on the reward balance or $0 left? in other words, is using the reward balance a all-or-none one-time transaction process?

    2. say you have $3 reward balance and paying for 1.01 purchase? will your final reward balance be $2, and you pay the 1 cent out of pocket? or will $1.01 be deducted from your reward balance?

thank you in advance. my first time in using the walgreen rewards. =D

Addressing your question #1, use 5,000 pts to pay and you’ll still have 4000 pts left over. however, if you had 10,000 pts but used all 10,000 to pay instead of 5,000 on let’s say for example, a $4 purchase, all 10,000 will be forfeit. If you don’t hit the point threshold for certain purchases, use the points available below your total so that you won’t be losing any extra points.

For #2, only 1,000 will come off, with 2,000 pts remaining. The BR program is very specific in only taking off whole numbers when redeeming points. HTH! I think Walgreens is great–I’ve actually been shopping there more often than at CVS lately. 🙂

Another thing is if you’re using points for your purchase, then you can’t earn points (if there’s some sale where it says earn XXX amount of points).

I sure wish Walgreens had price check machines throughout the store, so you didn’t have to take everything to the register for a price check. It would save shoppers and cashiers time.

    • Heather

I wish EVERY store had a price check machine. It would save so much hassle AND most likely increase the stores sales!

      I totally agree with you!

    • Kinzi

I completely agree! Maybe if they got several emails they would consider it? I will email them!

Did she say that they were making room for Halloween stuff??? YIKES! Time is going by entirely TOO quickly…..wow!

    • Erin

I was shocked to see Halloween and fall items displayed at a grocery store yesterday.

      • ali

My grocery store has a huge Christmas display already! Um…last time I checked, it was August. Apparently Halloween, Thanksgiving, and that pesky Autumn season don’t matter anymore…let’s get straight to the Christmas commercialism!! Lame-o.

    • animity

      Costco already has Christmas items!

    oxford panorama 1″ – $1.49; 2″ – $1.57

I got diaper/wipe sampler packs (contains 2 diapers & a pack of wipes) for .50 cents each! I bought the diapers in several different sizes so I can stash them in my car for emergency. A ton of times I have ran out of my home with my daughter, forgetting to grab her diaper bag, so this will come in handy!

    • Vanessa

that Sounds Like A Great Deal Are They In The Baby Section Or Was It Along With The Summer Stuff ?

  8. Kate

I was there at wags yesterday getting a couple of things–and out printed a CAT for $2 off any $10 purchase to be used today or tomorrow.. I will be going tomorrow to check out these deals..

  9. Emily
