is it better to give coupons before having them scan my BR card or does it matter? wasn’t sure about using $ off coupon on a free item… Any suggestions?

    • Jackie

I always give the cashier my BR card first so I can lock in the sale price b4 handing them my coupons. I used three $1/2 mfr cpns on my 6 bottles with no problems. Their coupon policy says when items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased. Although it was a $1/2 cpn instead of 2 individual cpns, the net price didn’t get below zero. My net was $4.58 b4 tax! Good luck!!! 🙂

        Thanks Jackie!!

The Purex detergent deal is a great one @ Wags this week! I also used my $2 RR along w/my three $1/2 mfr cpns, making my final cost b4 tax $4.58 for all 6 or $.76 each! I barely got the 6 bottles I bought. It was practically cleaned out there when I arrived. If it’s sold out in your local store, I recommend getting a rain check! 🙂

Be sure to check their clearance end caps first as I was able to find a bunch of Kleenex with lotion 70 count boxes for just $0.37 each. =)

    • bababooey1980

      OOOOH! Thanks!

    • Mayra

Very true! I didn’t find Kleenexs but I did find a bunch of BIC mechanical pencils @ $3 plus an addition 50% off and topped it off with my $1/1coupons made them only .50 a pack!!! 🙂

  4. guest

I was able to get my 6 bottles but I do not think they planned on people buying so much, they didnt have a lot of stock at 7 a.m.! It was a great deal!

  5. Melissa

I have been finding the free and clear Purex ultrapacks for 2.99 each.

  6. lacie

My wags had a sign up limit 3 purex… they said they had couponers in early getting like 24 of them … ugh I got 3 and came back in and got 3.

  7. CJ

OK new to Walgreens shopping.. They have Almay eye color for 6.99 on sale with $4 RR and I have the $5 off 2 Almay products coupon so since I am getting 2 eye colors would I get $8 in RR that I could use to get the Purex detergents…you cant use RR until the next day right?

    • jill

No, you will only get 1 RR per transaction, so if you buy 2 in the same transaction (which you’d have to do to use the coupon) you will only get one RR. You do not have to wait until the next day to use a RR. (They do sometimes give out “stock up coupons” for $2 off $10 purchase or $5 off $20 that are not valid until the next day)

      • jill

1 identical RR per transaction, I mean. You could get several different RR from different brands in the same transaction if you were buying different deals.

    • CJ

      Thanks!

I got 6 bottles of the Purex detergent today and did the Buy 1-get 2 free which comes to $9.58, then minus the 2 $3.00 coupons comes to $3.58, then divide it by 6, it comes to little less than 60 cents a bottle. Then I had $3.00 in reward points money and I also got a childs badmitten set for 50% off at $2.99. My total OOP cost was 43 cents for all that!

    • Diane

Oh, I should add that I also used 2 $2.00 RR money, that’s how I got it down to only 43 cents. I think the $3.00/2 coupons I used was in the Red Plum a few weeks ago.

      • Toria

Not to burst your bubble, but that wasn’t actually “legal”. The fine print on the $3/2 coupon says 128 oz./54 ct or larger only. Doesn’t really count if you didn’t do it intentionally, but I thought I’d point that out in case others wanted to try it. 🙂

        • lisa

          Toria is right

          • Diane

OMG, I didn’t realize that those $3.00 coupons were good for only 128 oz. or more. The gal at Walgreens who rung me up must not of been aware of it either. No, I definitely didn’t do that intentially.

            • Jackie

Unfortunately, it happens. We know u didn’t do it intentionally. Manufacturers are listing more restrictions on their coupons issued. It can make a difference between whether a store gets reimbursed or not.

            • Chippy Angel

the manufacture needs to stop playing these coupon games, give us what ever Off ONE no size restrictions *except for trial”

  9. johnstelmack

Okay, so I bought 3 Purex Ultra Packs at $4.79 per, so six for $9.58. I used 3 $3/2 Q’s from the 8/4RP (Q says 128oz/54cnt though I have NEVER seen a 54cnt bag of the Ultra Packs and the Q didn’t beep) so 108 loads of laundry for $.58 or $.006 a load!!! (side note, I did not read the fine print on the Q until a moment ago when I went to look it up to see why it wasn’t included in the deal, so it was an honest mistake, not an intentional one)

Also, the manager told me that if you redeem Balance Rewards on a purchase you will not earn any Balance Rewards on items in that purchase, Register Rewards will still print though. I didn’t know that!

    • el

Walmart and Target for sure sell the 54 ct. Just bc you used the coupon and it didn’t beep doesn’t make it OK. If walgreens doesn’t sell that size product, then they aren’t going to get reimbursed. And people wonder why cashiers scrutinize coupons and stores have such strict policies.

    • lisa

      Wow. This is so unethical.

    • Jackie

@johnstelmack – at least u were honest and didn’t do it intentional. Those restrictions on the coupons can make a difference between whether a store gets reimbursed or not. That’s why I make sure I read the coupons for any restrictions before I use any of mines.

    • johnstelmack

@El & Lisa, did you bother to read the ENTIRE post. I never implied it was OK, or ethical. I only noticed my error when I went back to look at the coupon after reading this updated post.

I am sure both of you are perfect and have never made an honest mistake, much less performed a dishonest act. I wish I had the ability to walk on water you two scowling coupon queens have. Note the sarcasm?! If you never made a mistake, honest or dishonest, you two would not be human beings. The key is to fess up to your mistakes and learn from them.

Oh, and way to be supportive you two. Thanks for your expressed understanding Jackie. I will certainly be taking note of the details from now on.

      • terri

John I also wanted to tell you that I just found out you will not get balance rewards ifyou use a merchandise gift card (which I used for something and just learned). fyi.

  10. Tia

How are people buying so much when there is a limit of 4 like coupons per shopping trip according to the coupon? Are they doing back to back transactions?

    • lisa

      6 purex items,use only 3pcs of $1/2 mf.

  11. Adrienne

Orem ut store was totally stocked on Purex and didn’t have limit of three.

    • Emily

The last time this deal happened, I went to the store at the end of the week and they were restocked but my store only carries 3 or 4 of each scent, so it only takes two couponers to clear the shelf when the deal has you buying them in increments of 3. Ask when they get their trucks in and go that day.

  12. Sarah

a little confused on something, if you are getting 6 laundry detergents. why only use 3 $1 off coupons? Can’t you use 4 to lessen the cost? or even do 2 seperate transactions, and use 3 on one transaction and 3 on another? a little confused.

    • loyda

The coupon is $1 off 2 Purex, Sarah.

  13. Maryann

Question, I thought the Kleenex coupon for 50c off 3 was only for a 3 pack, the ones bundled together. Am I allowed to use it on 3 single packs? Thanks!

    • PCL

      I think the coupon is $0.50 on 3 single boxes or $0.50 on a 3 pack .

  14. mrsnnr

Got the Purex deal tonight. Pay attention to the register. Mine rang up $5.79 with the other 2 free. I had happened to take a pic of the shelf to show a friend so was able to show the cashier it said $4.79 with 2 free.

    • Michelle

I went in and got some Purex tonight and they raised the price to $5.99. Still a good deal and I wished I had thought to check the shelf!

    • Aimee

After I’d paid for my 6 (I had a $5.99 RR from previous deals on top of the $1/2 coupons), my total came up to $4.08 after tax. On my way back to the car, I had a feeling something didn’t seem right because my total should have been at least half that. I looked on my receipt and it appears I was overcharged!

According to my receipt, it rang up as 3/$5.99 instead of the posted price of buy one at $4.79, get two free! I took all of my items back and told them I was charged a different price than what’s posted. 15 mins, two cashiers and a manager later, they issued me a $2 refund.

  15. Sandra

I went on Monday and the price was $4.79 for one and today it was $5.99. I still bought it because overall it’s a good deal. I don’t think it’s right to use the $3/2 b/c it isn’t the right size.

  16. mandy

and now you can earn $5 off $20 on savings star worth the purex
