Ibotta: Expiration Changes on Bonus Offers

So I have an important heads up for all you Ibotta users! Due to the popularity of the bonus offers (highlighted here), the supplies are now limited and they have changed the expiration of Pick Up the Values Bonuses. :(

$20 For 10 offers Bonus
If you have already redeemed at least 1 eligible offer for this Bonus, you will have until Sept. 9th to complete the Bonus. If you have not yet started this Bonus by redeeming at least 1 offer, you can redeem at least 1 of the eligible offers by 11:59pm tonight (Sept. 4th) and this will keep the Bonus open and available until Sept. 9th at 11:59pm.

$5 Autumn Stock Up Bonus
If you have already redeemed 2 eligible offers on one day for this Bonus, you will have until Sept. 9th to complete the Bonus. If you have not yet started this Bonus by redeeming 2 eligible offers in one day, please do so by 11:59pm tonight (Sept. 4th) and this will keep the Bonus open and available until Sept. 9th at 11:59pm.

$3 Freshen Up! Bonus
Because all 3 offers must be completed on one receipt, all 3 offers must be submitted by 11:59pm tonight (Sept. 4th).

$3 Kitchen & Bath Bonus
Because both combo offers need to be redeemed on the same trip, both combo offers must be submitted by 11:59pm tonight (Sept. 4th).

$2 Hug Your Baby Bonus
Because both eligible offers must be completed on one receipt, both offers must be submitted by 11:59pm tonight (Sept. 4th).

Also, don’t forget about this *HOT* Walmart scenario, as you can still take advantage of these rockin’ bargains if you head out and get your first transaction completed tonight!

    Mine shows expiration on the 5th, early morning. I already started the $20 for 10 bonus, and the autumn stock up bonus. Really, don’t feel like going in the road tonight just for this.

    Yeah mine says the same thing 9/5. Today I just did the autumn $5 bonus that has to be on 2 separate days for day one. I am really hoping Those dates change to fit what Collin has or I am going to be really disappointed losing the bonuses I was working on…..ughh!

      same here. Signed up yesterday to get in before the deadline, but looks like I will be un-signing up. Companies that change things to negatively impact the customer experience don’t deserve the attention or business.

      I hope everyone who does get there bonuses & free groceries, quits right after.

    Does it say anything in the app about the $20 & $5 bonuses staying open until the 9th when you redeem at least 1 offer? I really want to complete these bonuses, but I don’t want to start and not get to finish :/

    Ugg, I was going to do the Baby Bonus tomorrow to complete my Autumn and 10 offers Bonuses. Mine also says that I have until 9/5 1:59am on all 3 offers. Which means I *could* run out and by it now and submit it at midnight. UGGGGGGGGGGGGG

    Collin, where is that at? I did everthing today but still need 2 for the autumn bonus and 20 bonus. I just checked ibotta and my expiration is 9/5 @ 1:59am. I’m upset to think I spent all that money today and I won’t get the $20 bonus. I know it said 9/9 expiration earlier today.

      Same thing happened to me. Your receipt needs to process (mine was quick – like 30 minutes) and then the expiration date will change. Mine actually changed to 9/11 in order to complete the offers.

      Hi Julie, I searched the ibotta faq and found the statement above under the headline “picking up the values update”. I too have only redeemed half of the autumn bonus and also the $20 bonus. I completed the freshen up and kitchen& bath bonuses. My exp date is also tonight, but I guess I will trust the statement and redeem the rest of the offers in the am. I too will be very upset if I wont be getting that $25 in bonuses that Ive already started.

        be careful…mine says 9/5 at 12:59am…so i thought i had til midnight tomorrow but if you think about it 9/5 starts tonight at 12:01am which means i have 1 hr after midnight tonight to submit

  • Well that’s convenient. They haven’t resolved an issue w/ my receipt or offered any info on what I can do since walmart’s ink was low when they printed my receipt so it’s not completely legible. Bet I won’t end up being able to redeem the offers then, even though I went back to walmart and got a computer printout of my receipt. Nice. If I’d need to return the items and repurchase them so I have a legible receipt, it will be too late.

    Well at least now I know I am not totally losing my mind. I knew it said the 9th and after out shopping today it says the 1:59am on the 5th. I can’t complete the 10 offer bonus because they are taking their time processing my receipt with 8 offers completed towards the 10. I submitted other receipts after that one and those are already credited to me. I will be very disappointed if it’s not available tomorrow.

    I have NEVER been very excited about Ibotta…
    Then I see all the new possibilities this week and was a bit more motivated to try it out.

    NOW…they suddenly change their expiration dates for all the great bonus offers. And Ibotta isn’t even the one to notify their users, Hip 2 save is????; what about their users who don’t read Hip 2 Save???

    Now I am REALLY not too encouraged to use Ibotta anymore….I personally will be un-installing their app from my phone. Waaaaayyyyy too much hassle to earn the min. $5 just to cash out from. I like “instant gratification” lol (I have only accumulated $1.75; was hoping to get the new bonuses…)

    Thanks for the heads up Hip 2 save. I would have been PISSED OFF had I not seen this post, and then made all those purchases based upon the extra savings potential; only to lose out on all the bonuses they were offering because they changed their expiration last minute…

      I agree with sls0822. I used to like it until recently. ibotta likes to screw up people. Few weeks ago I submit a receipt & told me that someone already submitted. WTH? no point of arguing with them.

    Wow Ibotta, I am guessing you are going to piss alot of people off. I spent most of the afternoon printing coupons and organizing my shopping trips to start on Friday. Maybe they will change it back.

    I thought I was going crazy when I logged in and saw 9/5 early morning as the expiration for the $20 bonus! I had 9 of the 10 items redeemed since I bought one incorrect item at Walmart today! I did just run out to the store to get that one last item!

I just want to let everyone know that according to Ibotta, as long as you have redeemed at least one offer by tonight for the $5 stock up and/or the $20 for 10 bonus, you still have until September 9.     Wow just when I was thinking I should try this. Glad I didn’t. I have just enough time to plan my shopping with paper coupons let alone digital coupons, mobile coupons, saving star, and other apps. I do load stuff in to savings star and earn about $5.00 every 6 months. I also started using more digital coupons at Kroger.

    I got all ten items for the $20 bonus but they keep rejecting my kleenex, which is on the SAME receipt for other items they approved and I did scan the bar code at the store and when I submitted and it said “matches offer” all times, so I am still short 1 item for the $20 bonus AND I bought all the other items for the other bonuses but have not received the money for those bonus offers either, I have sent multiple trouble emails to them and have had no response except they are overwhelmed with the bonus offers and will take up to 48 hours to respond, I have a bad taste in my mouth about this whole thing, I worked really hard and made sure I followed all the rules:(

          It didn’t work for me either. I took it back to Walmart, and bought the trial 3 pack for .97 and it DID work, whatever. But sadly, since it wasn’t on the original receipt I didn’t get the ‘freshen up’ deal, but since the kleenex were $5 cheaper I guess I’m OK. So glad I made a special trip last night to do this deal. I ended up paying only $2.78 for all $50 worth of stuff. It was sooo worth it!! I love Ibotta!

    I have 8 of the 10 items redeemed for the 20 bonus and as of right now it’s telling me my $20 bonus ends 9/11. I sure hope that doesn’t change like tonight midnight!

      They must be honoring it until the 11th for people who started the bonus. I completed mine today, so I can’t say when mine would expire. Hopefully it works for you!! If I were you though, I would try to finish it tomorrow…just to be safe!

    Whew! I finished up all my bonuses today. And for those that have had issues with Ibotta…that’s so strange to me. I’ve been using it consistently for about a year now with no issues whatsoever! My money is always credited to my account within about 30 minutes, and is transferred to my Paypal account in about 10.

      Same here Stephanie. Except if I submit a lot of items on one receipt, it usually takes about 24 hours to show up in my account! But that’s no problem for me. I have been using Ibotta for 4 months now and have earned a total of $137.50.

    It would have been nice if they would have given us at least a 24 hour notice. I had planned on going to Walmart today, but after going a couple other places, more time had passed than what I was planning and thought it would be nice to get home before my husband got home from work. I had a little time to spare, but thought there would be no harm in waiting. I even checked the Ibotta offers/bonuses before heading home to make sure none that I was planning to use were going to expire before tomorrow. And now it has changed :(

    This really peeves me off. I wish it didn’t, because this change is only going to make me lose $6, but this stinks of bait and switch. I have made over $200 using this app and really don’t want to see it go this route! :(

    Wow. Another blog I follow posted this a few days earlier than Collin, and they had problems with items that originally “matched” when scanned being changed, because ibotta realized what a good deal it was. I think ibotta will be more careful in general next time.

    If i start tonight and get the bonus’ before they expire i still wont be eligiable for the $5 stock up bonus because I bought all offers tonight. Right? What if i just do two seperate transactions?

      You can do two seperate transactions. You just can’t redeem them both tonight. Two different receipts and you are fine.

      I think as long as you put 2 of the autumn stock up items on a different transaction, load the other receipt tonight, your Autumn stock up should be extended and you can submit the 2 item receipt tomorrow. As of now, the only one of mine that is in jeopardy is the kitchen and bath. I need to go to Walgreens tonight I guess to get those, if they have them. My autumn and $20 extended to the 11th. I would have had it all done today except my Wal-Mart doesn’t carry the Scott’s paper towels. I do think ibotta underestimated how many people follow blogs, help each other and seek out these deals. Why would anyone pass up getting all of this basically for free? I hope that they figure things out, I havent had issues with ibotta before.

    Wow, thanks for the heads up. It’s late here, and there is no store nearby, so there is no way I can get this started by tonight. I wasted a lot of ink unfortunately. :( Wish they could have given 24 hours notice instead of less than half a day.

    I was fortunate and went yesterday and bought the 10 items (transaction #1) last night at Walmart and the 2 items (transaction #2 at Kroger this evening. Everything processed perfectly but I scanned each item in the store first to make sure they qualified. I out of pocketed apprx $48 and I already have $53.75 in my account. What a nice money maker! Thank you Collin. This was my first attempt at ibotta and I think I’m hooked!

      The website link someone posted above says “submit” so I hope they honor that. I ran to Walgreens to get what I could for my kitchen and bath bonus, ended up spending more oop than I would have, but with the bonuses, I should still do really well, providing they honor them all.

    I made over $50 off of these bonuses alone! I have never earned that much money at one time with ANY other app! Sure, they are still working out their kinks, but this is a very lucrative app! :)

    I understand people are upset, I’m dissapointed too as I was planning to do some of the offers Friday however, maybe they made a mistake the first time when then put in the dates and didn’t realize it or maybe they are so overwhelmed by the number of people doing it they are trying to keep from going bankrupt. Sorry we missed out on a deal but it’s not the end of the world.

      I was upset after reading this post and then really upset when I actually checked my ibotta just to see that everything had disappeared. But like you said, it’s not the end of the world. I will continue to use ibotta for those little perks I earn on my everyday shopping.

      Plus nowadays these deals/offers spread out like fire. I saw so many people trying out the $10 JEAN offer at Macy’s last week but none of them were able to use it on the Jean shorts. I think so many people abused that offer and I didn’t embarrass myself after confirming with the cashier that it was only on the pair of long jeans not shorts.

      I don’t mean to offend anyone in particular and if I am then I apologize.

    bummer, I will be missing the kitchen/bath and hug your baby bonuses, but at least tomorrow I can finish up and get my 20 bonus (hopefully!!!! lol). I hope they don’t decide to end the 20 bonus one early too :( then I will be really ticked.

    Whew! I am so glad I decided not to do this deal in the first place! It really looked crazy, and then to find out that the stipulations have changed?? I’m not an Ibotta app user, and honestly, this doesn’t really make me want to be!

    Ibotta has always said something along the lines of = deals go fast and may not last till their expiration date. I always check before I buy as I’ve had an item “sell out” on Ibotta before when it was a popluar deal. Glad they plan on honoring it for those that have already started buying the items.

      I agree. iBotta has always said that the deals may end early if they reach their maximum. When I saw this posted I knew it was going to be popular. I started it on Saturday and ended it on Sunday. I sumbitted my Sunday receipts from the CVS parking lot right after I bought my items. The good deals go quick. That being said I have only had one other iBotta offer expire early: 20 oz Coca Cola.

    Ugh, wouldn’t have been a problem except I am working on husbands set of the deals (he just signed up). I went to cvs to do the hug your baby and get 1 more item sense I was there (no Scott wipes, so I had to sub out poise to make sure hubby gets his $20) and everything was fine (other than making sure to submit his receipt just after midnight because I stared the b2b2 stock up bonus yesterday but the recipet cleared today and I don’t want any issses with the $5). Then my recipet prints out all light. I told the cashier, this isn’t going to work. I’ll need to return it and rebuy it. I began getting told that because i paid in ecbs that i would lose them. Uh, no. Now the manager wasn’t thinking, and told me the ink goes out in a few days (yeah, not the case) and spent a good 20 minutes pondering what to do (registers were already settled so he couldn’t do a computer printout.) which was enough time for all but the 24hour stores to close. He finally refunded the items to a gift card and thankfully another customer went to another register. Gift card in hand I said, why don’t we see if this one has ink. Sure enough it did. I’m sure the manager just originally thought I was trying to get a gift card from ecbs. Not the case, I just needed my stinking receipt to be legible. Worked out fine in the end, 30 minutes later with a three year old.

    This would have been my first attempt at using Ibotta but they just scared me off. I’ve had the app downloaded for several months but thought it too labor intensive for the payouts. If they are going to have some great deal, they should expect it to become popular. The nature of great deals nowadays is a viral thing so not to realize it would be posted on FB, Tweeted and blogged about by everyone is very short sited on their end. To me, their inability to realize just what they are doing doesn’t make them look smart plus pulling back their offer is detrimental to their reputation. I hope they hear this loud and clear from everyone who is frustrated with their unprofessional decision.

    This is ridiculous, why put out and offer and change rules… I mean it is great way to save money and all but seriously… I had trouble submitting my offers and tonight 1:59AM my offers expire… seriosuly.. I am so mad. I try to avoid these complicated money saving opprtunities which are more of a pain than gain to me personally… I just signed-up for Ibotta since peple have been raving about it… oh well I can always return everything if things don’t get resolved with them. I don’t need their extra money or the products. SOrry for the rant… just had to vent… still love you hip2save for all other wonderful money saving offers. :-)

    This was my first time using ibotta & i’m surprisingly happy with this app thus far. Was debating on whether to do this challenge and decided on it last minute. So I walk into Walmart at 9:50 pm on Sept. 3 & everything was going bad considering my time constraint. Couldnt find last product on my list, very long line at checkout with ladies taking longer price comparing (I usually price match as well but its nerve wrecking when u only have 20min to submit the deal!), cashier questioning my IP coupons, phone battery dying! Luckily my receipt was perfectly clear, items scanned quick and I submitted my offer at exactly 11 pm. I thought I had failed since my ibotta had the expiration time at 10:59! But within the hour they let me know I had gotten $13.25 & my bonus timeline extended till 9/09! Gives me time to finish the 10 offers & the autumn bonus! Altogether I will be spending $45 & getting back about $41.25!! Sounds good to me!

    I have been using ibotta for a while and never had a problem. THANK GOD I read this post before heading out. I quickly checked my ibotta and GUESS what…. ALL BONUSES are gone. Nothing is showing up when I click bonuses. That’s a shame. Why would they get me all excited and then disappoint me like this. I am sure I am not the only one.

    I am just happy that I didn’t waste any money. Not feeling so bad anymore.

    I checked every bonus when they came out and they all said they expired Sept 9th. How can I keep sending invites and posting info about Ibotta when I can’t trust them? I emailed them about my disappointment in the way they handled this.

    I can understand people’s frustration, but with deals like this you really have to do them right away. I have been using Ibotta for awhile now and I guess from previous experience I knew that like many deals there are a certain number of uses available, like with coupons and their prints. It is the kind of deal where it lists an expiration date but can also end early if their limit is reached (I have had this happen before). I had a feeling this would happen because this deal was too good to be true.They probably did not realize that people were going to find a way to get around the app and get all of the items for free as I am sure that was not their intention with the bonuses etc.

    FOR EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT THESE PRODUCTS AND DID NOT RECEIVE YOUR BONUSES OR OFFERS EXPIRED BEFORE YOU COULD SUBMITT, TAKE THE ITEMS BACK TO WALMART (OR WHERE EVER YOU BOUGHT THEM AT) AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK!

    There is no sense in spending over $40+ for products that most of us probably didn’t need at this moment anyway! If you just return the stuff, you’re not out anything but time!
    I submitted my receipt on time yesterday, but I didn’t receive ANY bonuses and I sent them an email, but if I don’t get a resolution to this, all of this stuff WILL go back!
