I got a rebate back from Acuvue a few weeks ago for $40. Came as a Visa gift card.

Buy a year supply, usually comes with better deal

America’s Best-they have generic contacts and do the same job as the name brand fancy contacts. You can buy a year supply for approx 100 bucks!! (8 boxes) plus if you join their eye care club (99$) you get three free eye exams for three years!! Beyond great value! Lot of times they send coupons out in the mail for joining the club!

At America’s Best, you get what you pay for. Their business model is set up so the doctors see as many patients as they can per hour. That does not = quality care. My husband is an optometrist. I cannot tell you how many America’s Best patients he’s seen that had something wrong with them that the AB doc didn’t catch because he or she was trying to push them through as fast as possible. Yeah, you might be able to see, but a *thorough* eye exam is so much more than making sure you can see.

And my tip is: ask your eye doctor if he or she will match whatever price you find on contacts. A lot of people assume that Wal Mart, Sam’s or Costco is the best deal, so they make an extra trip there. My husband is always glad to price match if he can. Don’t be afraid to ask! The docs want to keep as much business as they can.

I do agree that you get what you pay for and I often wondered about the quality of the exams at America’s Best. I was pleasantly surprised though when I got an exam from another doctor (and America’s Best a few months apart) and the results were basically the same. I go there for the contact lens exam but get my glasses elsewhere. Glad to hear about the rebates though. I actually have Accuve lens too.

Walmart does not have the best deal, and you get what you pay for as far as the way they treat patients. I have had nothing but problems! My son had an eye exam, and I had printed a month free trial for contacts, and the optometrist wouldn’t even look at it, told me no! He said I gave him a 2 week pair that’s good enough! Come to find out he gave me the most expensive lens they sell, and they won’t change the contact RX unless I do a follow up for another fee! Never again!

I am a doctor of Optometry. Almost every contact lens company has rebates available when you order a years supply of lenses. Ask your Eyecare provider for a rebate form as many companies distribute them on a regular basis.

best deal I’ve gotten on contacts was ordering them through Walgreens because I got a great discount using my Discover card

I always go through 1800 contacts- they have a price match guarantee and free shipping, so I always look around a bit and find the cheapest price around for my brand, then give them a call- they have 24 hour support or you can chat online. They’re super helpful and very friendly! When I moved, they even found a local eye doctor that accepted my insurance and set up the appointment!

I just bought my oldest daughter contacts this summer. Hadn’t bought contacts in YEARS! Talk about sticker shock! I went to Costco assuming they’d have the best price. After I got home, I looked online and found that Walgreens had 20% off contacts, the same brand as I got at Costco. AND it had rebates for first time users for $50 on a year supply. I ended up saving somewhere around $70. It was worth returning the ones from Costco. The Walgreens sale is good through September 30th for anyone that wants to check it out. The Accuvue rebates are good through the end of the year. Different amounts depending on whether you are a new wearer or not, and which type of lenses you get.
