*HOT* Target: How I Scored a Pair of Earrings AND a Timex Ironman Watch for Only $2.38 (Over $50 Value!)

UPDATE: After reading through the comments, it sounds like many of you are skeptical that this deal will actually work at your local Target. As I mentioned below, it worked just fine for me an hour or so ago as the cashier simply scans the Mobile Coupon barcode on your phone and the savings are applied automatically (the cashier does not have to key in any info). If you do indeed head out to test the deal, please share your success stories and/or any issues that you experienced below.

Hi Collin just to let know I did this deal at my target here sanata clarita, ca and the cashier or customer service won’t accept it. They wouldn’t even try to scan my coupon!
Also, on top of that the people at this target are really rude. She told me that ” you couponers are getting are stuff for free!” I was mad and called corporate and they said that they did call target store to still honor this. But for some reason some store managers won’t do it. I called the other target near my work and they told me to just come in and will see if it scan. S I will see :(:(:(:(
I HATE cashiers like that! That’s when I kindly explain to them that their store is actually making 8-12 cents on every coupon that’s claimed. It tends to shut them up š
I sort of expected them to give me a problem over it, but after reading the comments from target on their Facebook page, I figured it was ok. I even asked if it was ok before I did it at the register and they had ZERO problems, said it worked fine and they have had people doing it all week.
I think they did it in on purpose. What are the chances that they would have forgot to put of equal or lesser value in the fine print AND coded it in the computer the wrong way? If it was truly a mistake they would have fixed it in the computers to ring up the way they intended.
My opinion: they either wanted to get people talking or get people into the store to impulse buy because most people will go in for that and come out with 10 other things.
You should get a text with a link to a website with coupons.

Used it in Wilmington NC today. Found earrings on clearance for 4.48 and chose to get a necklace for 29.99. Perfect Christmas gift for my sister. The cashier was pretty excited about the deal too. I tried it in Waco,Tx tonight at about 8:00 and they would not scan the coupon on my phone but said they had an email from corporate to put in lower priced item manually. Does anyone know if this is true?
Target replied to me on twitter and said that the coupon was intended to give us the best deal and that the higher priced item would be free. AND that you could get clearance items as well!
Maybe you can take a screen shot of it and post it here for those, who have trouble getting that deal? They can refer to it at the store by showing it to the store manager…

I just got back from Target and they would NOT take the coupon off the higher priced item. They said they’ve been dealing with it all day, that it was a fraud and that the lady who responded saying it was legitimate had hacked the site? It all sounded so strange and wrong, and now that I’m reading everyone else’s comments from this evening I’m guessing I should have called Target corporate myself instead of listening to the manager at the store who was super upset and flustered. If I’m around Target again before it expires I’ll try again.

Yeah, I work at Target and I’m gonna do it too. At least I’m not gonna give anyone grief over it if management decides to wise up and shut this down.
The employees are probably annoyed because they realize if corporate loses money/doesn’t make a profit, store hours get cut or employees get laid off. A store has to make a profit to stay in business. I’m not trying to sound mean, but this HAS to be some kind of glitch that they decided they have to go ahead and honor. I don’t work for Target, but I do work in retail and I see people very often trying to use coupons in a way they were not meant to be used. I do not hate couponers (I myself like to use them) but those of us who work in retail see enough people who abuse them that it is hard NOT to develop a bad attitude toward couponers. It’s no excuse for rudeness, of course.

Target in Florence, AL honored this deal yesterday. I simply went to the checkout, let the cashier ring up my items, said that I had a coupon, she scanned it, and the money automatically went away. I picked up a watch for $39.99 and a pair of earrings on clearance that were $2.38. I used my Red Card for the extra % off and with tax my total was less than $2.50. My mother’s birthday is next week, she absolutely is obsessed with watches, and money is tight. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome deal!!

Your phone has to accept short code texts. Mine didn’t, so I did it from my husband’s phone and then had him forward the link to me in a text. Then it opened just fine on my phone. Hope this helps.

i just signed up and got a message saying “you will receive your first coupons within a couple of weeks”. did i do something wrong? what should i do now to get mobile coupons?

Tried it in Charlottesville, VA–it did not work, and the store manager wasn’t particularly helpful. She just said that the coupon automatically takes off the lesser priced item, and there was nothing she could do to override the charge. (I bought a $5 watch that was on clearance, and was hoping to get a necklace priced at $17 for free. No dice!)
Follow up: I called Target corporate and their customer service rep said that they are supposed to honor the more expensive item. HOWEVER, I’d have to go back to the store within THREE DAYS and have them scan the receipt in order to get the credit. I have a baby at home, and the target is 40 minutes away. Additionally, we go out of town this weekend and there’s no way I can make it to the store any time soon! I begged them for some leeway–a credit, a gift card equally that expense, anything. They wouldn’t budge. I’m so frustrated because the people in the store made me feel really foolish initially for requesting to have the more expensive item credited, and now I can’t even go back to get my money! BOO Target, you need to COMMUNICATE better with your store branches and managers.

They very reluctantly let me use this at Target in Louisville, Ky. The coupon itself scanned just fine and took off the more expensive item. The cashier then said that she was instructed that any time they had this coupon they were to call the manager. So the manager came of and said I was a misprint and that I would only be able to get the lesser item for free. I told him that wasn’t what was online, and that when the coupon was scanned, it clearly deducted the more expensive item. I don’t think he was in the mood to deal with it so he let me have it.
I signed up but never got a bar code sent to me. What’s with that? I got all excited but now I’m bummed …..
I went to the Green Bay Target today to use the couponā¦ and just before I checked out one of the team leads came out and declared to everyone that the coupon was invalid and no longer being honored. When I asked why, he did not give me an explanation except āBecause Corporate says so.ā He then proceeded to tell me (while I was holding a pair of clearance earrings and a watch) that āpeople are openly abusing their business by buying clearance items and expecting to get the more expensive item for free.ā When I showed him the coupon and how there was no fine print to back up what he said, he refused to even look at it.
I was so incensed that I called Customer Service and filed a complaint. Guess what the lady told me? That the coupon was still being honored and that Target Corporate did NOT revoke the coupon, but made it the storeās discretion to honor it or not. So, not only was the team lead I spoke to rude, he was also not truthful.
Normally, Iām not bothered by this sort of thing, but the blatant rudeness and utter lack of business etiquette made me unusually angry. I wonāt shop at Target from here on out.
