I was surprised by how many people wanted a watch too 😉 I guess I am just accustomed to my cell phone. I haven’t done this deal but if I do I’ll probably look for something other than a watch, haha.
There’s lots of places where people need to wear watches. As a therapist I need to make sure that my sessions end on time, but it would be incredibly rude to keep checking my phone. A watch is a nice, discrete way of making sure things are on track. I’d imagine it’s the same for teachers, doctors, etc.
LOL, must be a younger generation thing…I have been wearing a watch for YEARS (since I was old enough to tell time lol). But “back in the day” (the 80’s) we didn’t have cell phones to tell time with…we wore Swatch Watches and had or wanted many of them in every color and style!
Guess I am old fashioned…when I want to know what time it is, I either look at my watch or a clock. I use my cell phone to make phone calls & send/receive text messages

my husband is military and they arent allowed to just pull out their phones whenever. all of those guys and gals wear watches b/c they still have to know what time it is.

Leslie, it’s my understanding that you can text from any phone. If it is not a smartphone, it will send you a link to put into your computer so that you can print the coupons out with the bar code. Some people are having difficulty with the coupon working. In case it does not work, just pay for the items, go to guest services and have them call Target corporate. This is per Target’s FB page.

I did it yesterday, $2.38 earrings and a $49.99 watch! Love it. The cashier was really happy for me too, lol. There were several other people doing the same deal as me while I was there, and the clearance earrings and the watches were getting a little thin.
I just tried it with two pieces of jewelry and it rang up with the higher priced one free. The manager came over and told me the coupon was hacked and it wasn’t a target coupon. Then she changed it manually to the higher priced one. She said the police were involved? Is there anything I can do?

Maybe you put a block on ads on your phone from your service company…because my roommate got a similar message….
Ask her to call corporate while you’re there, apparently corporate has been telling stores to let people do the deal as stated above. Not only that but the CS reps on their facebook page have in several occasions told various people that it’s supposed to take off the higher price items, just like Collin posted above.
To report the manager to the police? Since she’s lying about police investigating herself? LOL!
Yes Melissa, per Targets facebook page bring it back to the store and have them call corporate for verification that it is a legitimate coupon. You do need to do this today or tomorrow before the coupon expires.

I did this deal last night. Not only did the cashier know just what coupon I was going to use but she said she had done the deal twice already! The Target employee in line behind me was doing the same deal. This was in Sunnyvale, CA.

In Martinsburg wv yesterday I went in 8am and manager was explaining he got email saying they have to change it manually and will not honor deal. He told cashiers at a morning meeting in front of me. I spoke up and pointed out facebook post said they would honor he said coupon says equal or lesser value …I said no it doesn’t and proved it with the coupon on my phone. He honored it for me but everyone else isn’t getting deal at their store!! 🙂 they need to be clear and consiStent.
I scored a free hello kitty watch that was $19.99 for free and paid $4 for a cute necklace on yesterday 10/2/13. Then I tried to use my niece’s phone to get her a watch 5 minutes later (different mobile account) and it did not work.

A woman commented recently on the Target Facebook page today that she called Corporate and they told her that it was at the stores discretion whether or not to accept it, and another person said that they were told they would get the cheaper item free. I am still going to try this because I have to go to Target anyway, but If it doesn’t work then I will just have them put it back.
I did it last night, got a beautiful bracelet for $3.50 and a nice timex watch (39.99) free.. they had the $49 watches, but I liked the one I got better! its very pretty! will make a nice xmas gift!! :o)
The police involved over a coupon that was possibly coded wrong?! That sounds insane. It seems to me if Target wanted to they could make the coupon invalid if it really was a mistake. I just don’t see police getting into something like a “hacked coupon”.

My target wouldn’t honor it. The manager came over and corrected the coupon. The cashier had to call the manager before she could ring up my order. They had been told to call the manager because the coupons were wrong.
It won’t send me the link 🙁 it just keeps saying “you’ve already signed up”! Bummer.

Just a tip for those who didn’t get it to work. You gotta get them to ring up the cheaper item first, then the more expensive one last. It worked for me and this was said from other blogs. HTH!

My cashier rang up the $49.99 watch first then the $5.98 necklace and it deducted the $49.99 automatically after she scanned the mobile coupon. So it doesn’t matter which one gets scanned first, the higher priced item is supposed to be deducted from the total because that’s how the coupon works. If it doesn’t deduct it, then you should take your purchase to the Guest Services counter and have them correct it.

What is your carrier? Maybe that is the issue, not necessarily the phone or target. Make sure you have text service activated and you dont have data disabled on your phone
You may have short code blocked from your phone. I have Sprint as cell provider and some how it was blocked. I called Sprint and they unblocked short code and waited on the phone while I tried again and it went right though. Hope this helps.
