I am an avid reader and thought I would never give up real books for a tablet but I got a nook several years ago as a gift and I haven’t looked back! I got myself this one earlier this year and love it, this is a great deal.

Hi I am getting a tablet for my husband for Christmas. Any opinions as to HD nook vs kindle Fire?

I love my nook, especially being able to expand my memory with an sd card.

nook doesnt compare whatsover with kindle. Get the kindle and thank me later

        i second that.

Both eReaders are close in speed, screen res, and other technical aspects. However, both have their own software built on top of the Android OS, which limits their potential.

The Kindle is very limited in apps b/c you only have access to Amazon marketplace. Take a look around there app store and you will see what I mean. Last time I checked, not even very popular apps like candy crush were available.

Nook is less limited b/c it gives access to google play, but no camera. If he would like no restrictions, look outside the eReaders (both Amazon and BN have free apps to use on other tablets). I don’t feel too hampered by my nook, so it was a decent trade off for the cheaper price.

      Hope I helped.

Is the nook ok for surfing the web?

    • Tiffany Y.

We have one of each. I love my Nook for reading, but the Kindle is way friendlier for almost everything else. 🙂

It depends on what he would like to do with it. My mom has a Kindle and loves it. She only uses it to read and the paper look makes that very easy. I have a nook and LOVE it. I use it to watch youtube, check the weather and read. I read every night and I like that I can turn the light in the room off and not bother my husband because the nook is back lit and you can adjust the brightness. I think both are great, you can’t go wrong.

Kindle!! Amazon offers SO many free books it will pay for itself!

    • Bekah

I bought my husband a Nook on sale for a good price, but it doesn’t compare to my Kindle Fire. Ended up buying him a Kindle later because he had nothing but problems with the Nook. Personally I recommend the Fire.

My 3 kids each have a Kindle Fire HD 7″. We’re very happy with it except you can’t print from it. Does anyone know if you can print from a Nook?

      • smellyann

I just did before coming back here. Sweet, thanks!!

        • Barbara

So now you can print from the nook?

You can use the $20 off $100 coupon that Collin posted a few days ago if you purchase the nook hd+. The nook hd+ is $129.50. Which is an awesome deal.

    • Barbara

I think it excluded tablets and e readers. Not sure though.

Amazon has the Nook 7″ 8GB for $65.99!

    • Stefanie

Shipping is about $10 but that still only makes it $76

  6. Georgi

How many books can you have on an 8gb? We are thinking about getting one for my 14 year old..
