Walmart: Christmas Ad Match Policy
Calling all you Walmart shoppers! Did you know that Walmart stores will now match a local competitor’s printed ad on an identical item from now through December 24th even if you find the lower advertised price later?! You’ll just need to bring in your Walmart receipt and a copy of the local competitor’s printed ad and you’ll get a Walmart Gift Card for the difference! Click here for more information.
Note that there are several exclusions. Most notably, this Christmas Ad Match Policy excludes Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday Day ads.

Just my opinion…with the all the pricing issues with Walmart.com lately, I will not be doing anymore shopping with them. I would rather spend my money elsewhere. My lego orders were cancelled this morning….very frustrating…you never know what orders you will get.
I can’t believed they canceled your orders from this morning, since those prices were not glitches. I think I’m with you, I’m voiding Walmart this season.
I haven’t had any issues what so ever with walmart.com and others have received their things as well that I know personally with the gift cards. When you order and over abundance that’s the only reason they are being cancelled.

What did you order? I ordered this morning as well a lego superman and 2 Star Wars with giftcards. They emailed me my giftcards and my order Is processing.
I ordered the lone ranger set and thr superman set.
I completely agree with you and I am in the same boat.. I refuse to shop anymore. I didn’t get one of my gift cards and had the WORST customer service of my life when I called them. This was after my order being canceled earlier this week.. so definitely not a happy shopper.
This is why I NEVER shop ToysRUs.com. They cancel orders all the time.

A $10 gift card from the Lego orders placed this morning? I know they sent out gift cards for the pricing glitch the other day, but wasn’t aware of any gift cards being given for orders placed today and cancelled.
I’m wondering after reading the policy if the phrase, “see Customer Service Desk for details” is going to give them an out if they decide to change their policy. Otherwise, it sounds grreaatt!

They did last year.
They will still honor Black Friday ads, just if u but it now and on Black Friday it’s cheaper they won’t give u the difference in gift card! Hope that makes sense!
I read on another blog that they will not be honoring BF ads (even if you go in during the time ex: Legos for 9.99 at TRU Thursday 5-9 or whatever) this year. As in at all. Any truth to this???
According to their regular ad match policy (which this would fall under because you are matching the price to a product in an ad at the exact time of purchase), it doesn’t state that they are excluding Black Friday (or any other “holiday specific” sales, like on Thursday, etc). I really think it’s all stemming from people confusing the two policies when they aren’t the same thing:

They cancelled my order too. Was surprised they didn’t honor it. Now I’ll just wait for the item to go on sale, use the $10 e card and they will get a whole extra $2 from me!

With other stores like target and TRU price matching now. Walmart needs to step up their customer service, because people will just go elsewhere.
Does WalMart even have customer service? They are a horror on most issues, I suppose this will not work out either.
I’m not even going to bother. Their everyday price match policy changes so often in our local Walmart, even though Walmarts written policy doesn’t change, I’m not going to waste my time. When you pull out a hard copy of Walmarts price match policy, and you have the competitors ad in your hand, we’re told ” that’s just a guide, it’s all at the managers discretion”. You use to see alot of people price matching there, but not anymore.

They will price match for Black Friday, but only on that day, not thru the 24th like the other promo. They have always price matched 🙂 Depends on which Wal Mart you go to, mine is awesome! Never really had a problem at all.
This year is excluding it so far but they may add it last minute. Last year was a breeze. I pick dup all the toy items from Toys R us and matched with the ad and people looked at me like huh? 😀
Awwww I remember back in the day when i did Black Friday Shopping at Walmart and would price match everybody else’s items and just buy it at walmart. Sometimes I had a issue if the model #s were exact but wasn’t that often….bye bye to the good ole days.
Oh man, guess im glad I didn’t buy the Lego friends set with the $10 egift. I would have been pissed if they canceled my order. I just got it without the egift and used the 10$ sorry egift they gave me from the other day. I’m done with Walmart.
What did you guys expect, Walmart won’t even match their own .com prices….. I can go to target and they will match Walmart.com prices, kind of comical!
I did get the Lego deal this am but I opted to do store pick up. Mind you, I can’t pick it up till 11/22. I just hope I don’t forget.
Look, no other store lets their customers do all of the things walmart does. I can take back anything without a receipt and walmart will take it back. They are the only store that price matches on Black Friday and they do have the lowest prices or they will match it. All stores have issues from time to time. Walmart had an issue on their website and the only people mad are the ones that were trying to take advantage of it. Yes I was upset I couldn’t get on to buy a $10 lego set the other day but I also understand if they lost a ton of money they couldn’t offer the low prices they do.
Lots of stores let you return items without a receipt and Walmart doesn’t always have the lower prices I shop around when buying things as I’ve found no one store has the lowest prices on everything.
I am angry because I tried purchasing a Lego set with a bonus gift card this morning and my order was cancelled due to a pricing glitch. I understand the error the other day and orders being cancelled, but there is no reason that orders placed this morning were cancelled.

Just go online and reorder it. I don’t understand the issue. This like this happen. It’s not worth getting upset over. Sometimes you just have to move on. I’d reorder the Lego set or wait for a better deal to come around. They always do.
I ordered some lego sets for my son during the price glitch. I just got an email today that I didn’t recieve full refund- one item would still ship. when i checked, I was over charged for this particular item during the glitch. I called to explain the items that were under priced were cancelled but overpriced were charged as advertised during the glitch. I asked to refund the difference of the overpricing to current online price and they would. Now I have to physically go to the store to return. aggrevating.
Sorry, they would not refund the difference.
If you have a layaway at Wal-Mart you can also take the ad and they will reduce the item.

That comment is for Walmart and not Collin. I am grateful to Collin for all that she does and the amount of money she has helped me and my family save.

Also, never again for me. I ordered a waffler (an awesome deal Collin posted a few months ago) and ordered it online. When it arrived at my local Walmart the employees wrote my last name in large print permanent black marker all over the waffler box! Since it was a Christmas gift I was furious. I asked why and they said they had to know whose it was. Um, how about the ship receipt taped to the box? I called corporate and no one ever called me back, wrote me, or anything. In the past they accidentally shipped us 2 TVs and what a nightmare that was. As others have said and based on my experiences, I’ll pass on Walmart. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what I have. There is zero customer service!

Anyone know how to get access to a Kmart Toy book (without going to Kmart, too far away) to price match at Walmart?
I have always price matched during Black Friday (a few toys but mainly electronics like games and movies). All this policy is stating that, from now until Dec 21st, if you buy an item and find it cheaper later, bring your receipt and proof and you get the difference on a gift card. They will not honor this policy if you buy an item now and it happens to be on a Black Friday ad for cheaper and you want the price difference later. This isn’t the same thing as price matching items on the day of Black Friday.
this isn’t true i called corporate and they said they are not price matching at all on thursday or friday…. the number is 1800 walmart myself my mom my cousin and my sister all called to see if they told us different and they all read the same letter to us that they will not honor anyones ads those two days so the sign is confusing but call the hotline they will tell you no price match those days…..
I will say this as a disclaimer: I used to work in Store Support in the Walmart HO for 9+ years; we handled issues for the stores—everything from pricing, invoicing, modular issues, etc–including policy and procedures. 1-800-Walmart is the Merchandising Hotline…and they are VERY often inaccurate and incorrect. They are good for passing a message along to store management, etc but that’s about it.
On that note: Check out the Walmart Facebook page. There is a lot of questions about this same thing…and here is their response:

So, 1-800 Walmart told you incorrect information…but I’m not surprised. 🙁 The Christmas Ad Match and the regular Ad Match policy are NOT the same thing. You can still bring in your ad and price match (has to be the same item, model, etc) on the day OF Black Friday.

wow walmart corporate should read these comments and really see how unhappy their customers are. I don’t shop walmart anymore I worked for them and didn’t like the way they treat their employees let alone customers. It may be a multi billion industry but without customers they are nothing. They need to make a lot of changes…
Everyone is down on Walmart. But here in my area its Toys R Us. They lose layaways, Customer service is rude or just flat out ignores you. They do not honor their pricing and today I asked about paying out a layaway and then returning some of the dolls because they are now on sale and the clerks repsonse was well lady you should have just waited b/c I do not want to have to fool with all that paperwork or go somewhere else. SO I personally would rather deal with My walmart than Toys R Us or Target. My target isn’t always stocked and they never give rainchecks. I know my people at Walmart on first name basis and it is wonderful. I live in a super large city so no special treatment.
What’s to keep you from returning it and re buying it at the black Friday price? That way you get money back instead of a giftcard..??..
