Are you thinking about your Thanksgiving menu for this year yet? Do you stick with the same items or do you change it up a bit? One of our favorite must have dishes is a green bean casserole. It doesn’t feel right without it! Plus this holiday classic dish is super easy to make. You can use frozen or canned green beans – whatever is easiest for you.
Classic Green Bean Casserole
(Adapted from the French’s French Fried Onions Can)
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 (14.5ounces) cans of green beans, drained
1 1/3 cups French Fried Onions, divided
Combine soup, milk and pepper in a 1 1/2 -quart baking dish; stir until blended. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup French Fried Onions. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until hot. Stir. Sprinkle with remaining 2/3 cup onions. Bake 5 minutes or until onions are golden.
Tip: My favorite condensed soup for this is Trader Joe’s Cream of Portabella Mushroom Soup… It tastes extra fancy 🙂
The toasted onions are the best part, aren’t they? Who else likes a little of this leftover on a turkey sandwich the next day?! Yum.
Will you be making green bean casserole this year?
