Is this good for a two year old?
Does anyone else have this or a different kids tablet for their two year old?
Just looking for a good recommendation. Thanks!!

    • Ashley says:

My daughter has the original Leap Pad and my son started using it around 18 months. He could just figure out how to turn it on and touch a couple spots to get to videos. Now that he’s almost 2, he can play around with some of the apps. 2 might sound a little young, but they learn fast. Plus, the leap pad is nice because they can’t get into trouble pushing wrong buttons like they’d be able to on a kindle or grown up tablet.

      • Ashley says:

I should add, my daughter was a couple months shy of 3 when she received it and had no problems using it (she caught on quicker than I did…..).

    • Ani says:

My daughter received the Leappad Ultra for her 2nd birthday. It took her about a month to figure it out, but she has grasp it VERY well! We love it because we can buy and download her favorite cartoons like Bubble Guppies and Yo Gabba Gabba on it and take it anywhere! While it has features that are more directed for 4 and up (like a calculator), it also does well for her at 2. She has even figured out the camera app on it. Hope this helps a little!

  • Caroline says:

Could a 3yr old use this?

  • axhilli says:

    Wowie that’s pricey! lol

  • Lara- says:

I am not getting the $30 gift card

  • Lory says:

Absolutely a 3 ur old could use it! Plus YOU CHOOSE whatever games/apps they play play AND you can log in to see their progress!! :) (We have the Leappad 2)

  • Me says:

Tip for if you have 2 kids in your house that both have their own Leap Pad-don’t buy the actual game cartridges, instead buy the game apps online as they can be loaded to up to 2 Leap Pads where the cartridge would have to be shared and can also get lost easily.

    • Em says:

Wow…didn’t know that! We have 2 and have the same issue…lost games

      • Me says:

Yeah, we definitely figured it out sometime this spring when both boys wanted the same game app online, and we didn’t want to buy the same thing twice. It’s fantastic!! Saves a lot of money too since they often have the buy 3 apps get 1 free codes too!

  • laura says:

Are the games very expensive to buy?

  • Ani says:

Toys R Us is also giving a $30 gift card with the Ultra purchase as well.

  • Lauren says:

I can’t see the 30$ gift card offer

  • Jaime says:

I just bought these for my 4 year old twins. I got them at Walmart for $149 with a $30 walmart gift card but this is a better deal because you get the gel skin, headphones and a $30 amazon gift card.

  • Nicole says:

I cant get the gift card either.. the add both button isn’t showing up. plz help!!

  • adrimom says:

What makes the ultra better than the 1 or 2? I have a 1 that we got last year for something ridiculous like $40 from KMart and my girls fight over it so I want another but not sure it’s worth this much extra $$…

    • Em says:

Walmart has the 2 for like 39 I think on Black Friday…I’m wondering the same thing…what are the new features?

    • Tabatha says:

Go to amazon and look up the ultra… scroll down and it show you the differences in 3 of them. I would say for a kid under 5 the cheaper on would be better but for over 5 the Ultra would be best.

      • adrimom says:

Thanks for the tip, Tabatha! I just did what you said and completely agree! For my 2 & 4 year olds.. the cheaper model will work just fine. : )

  • Em says:

Goodness, I’m way behind. I thought leappad 2 was the most current version. What does the ultra do that the leappad 2 doesn’t so I can compare…we have the original leappad and the leappad 2.

  • laura says:

I bought it, but then cancelled after reading how it crashes and freezes all the time. Seems like a headache :(

  • Diane says:

We have the leappad 2 and my 4 year old loves it. I do wish it had the wifi connection like the ultra but it works well for her. I think in a few years I will get something like this for her and give the leappad 2 to my son. It is a good deal but will just get her an ipad or tablet and put locks on things.

  • Michele says:

My husband wants to invest in a “real” tablet so that our 4 year old can watch movies on our Netflix account. I thought this might be a better and less costly investment but I’m having issues finding more than 30 second videos about this product. For anybody that owns one of these devices…the included games, are they worth the purchase or will I be spending lots of money purchasing apps? Can the device watch movies or just preloaded information? Any help would be appreciated.

    • Samantha says:

Michele- was wondering the same thing here’s what I found out – The word from LeapFrog is no Netflix streaming. As they filter in all content for their safe search, they’re not yet able to isolate only the kids’ stuff streaming from Netflix. Looks like I’m not getting it.

      • Michele says:

Ditto…I kind of think my husband wants to “share” the device with our 4 year old and I think he’s mastered kindergarten level math and reading (hopefully ).

        • Maria says:

We looked at these thoroughly but ended up getting a kindle fire for the same price, which we can all use and/or put on free time for the kids to play games on their own profiles, read books and watch videos. Its very child friendly and its for younger and older ages and much cheaper then buying the cartridges. Just my thought…

  • Stephanie says:

Just got one for my 6 year old! Thanks. I’ve been looking for a deal on this item.

  • marlene says:

Thank you for this! It wont let me use my $50 in gift cards for some reason…? But its still a good deal so i am gonna order it, thanks :)

  • Caroline says:

Is it suppose to be $149 shipped? Mine is charging me for the S&H and tax…Just wondering..Sounds like a dumb question but just wanted to be sure….I know it would make sense to be paying tax/S&H but I have seen places not charge.

    • julie says:

you will have to pay tax depending on where you live. in the final check out you need to select *free shipping* mine was pre selected as standard and was charging shipping.

  • megan says:

i picked up one of these last night to give to my son when his new sibling arrives in April. he will be 4 by then, and i think he will love it! and you cant beat this deal, its the very best one ive seen since this was released!

  • Mimi says:

You probably better off not buying when the ipad is essential the same thing and the apps are mostly free!

  • Julie says:

Awesome, I have been wanting to buy this! Thanks!

  • Lisa Jones says:

I can’t get the headphones and gel skin discount to show up. It does take the $30 off for the gift card at checkout. Any suggestions?

  • williams1978 says:

So I have tried to add these items the way it says to do so, I keep getting a subtotal of $187 without the gift card and $200.43 with the gift card. Now after getting to the checkout and changing the shipping to Free standard shipping I have a total of $170.43. Now here is what I don’t understand in the order summary the info says I have 4 items total $200.43, S&H is $8.84, Gift Cards -$30, lol, Promotion Applied -$8.84, lol. So what I see is they are charging you for everything including the gift card and then taking said card off the total and giving you free shipping. What am I doing wrong here why is it not totaling everything up right?

  • Tarin says:

I did an online chat with amazon.
a:Hello there, my name is Felicia. I am sorry, I can check on that for you.
So just to be sure, when you go to the review your order page, it is not applying the discount for the accessories? Is that correct?
Me:that’s correct. It is applying for the $30 gift card but not the accessories and it was earlier.
Felicia:Ok, it should be applying and I am not sure why it isn’t. I’m sorry about that. I have added the credit for you on the account. Go ahead and refresh your page and you should see the credit being applied now.

So I got the pink for 147
Now trying to get second deal.

  • Tarin says:

No both . But I’m trying to do it on my sisters account as I need 2 and the new rep is saying either/ or luckily I have a print out of the checkout page earlier today when it was all applying. Just wanting to see want she says.

    • williams1978 says:

Ok so just to be clear you got the “bundle” for $149 and they are sending you a $30 gift card also? Sorry just wanting to make sure because it is not ringing up anything close to that for me, lol.

  • Barbie says:

Did this offer end because I could not get the amount to drop. Stays at $170. The giftcard price comes off but full price for headphones and skin. Help please

  • Dawn says:

Maybe it’s expired now, it’s no longer giving the case and headphones free.

  • Kelsey says:

I had no issues! I just followed the links in her post!

  • Mary says:

I had the same problem with the promotion not coming up so i chatted with amazon:
    4:45:09 PM
Amazon:Okay Maria just to confirm I understand what you are saying, you are trying to order this deal but instead of getting the gel skin and the headphone free you are seeing a charge for them? 4:48:59 PM
    Me:Yes that is correct.4:49:39 PM
Amazon:Can you send me a link on this deal so I can do some further research for you please?4:50:12 PM

Me:wait I did have to add them separetly 4:56:48 PM
Me:but they are now all showing in the cart4:57:09 PM
Amazon:Okay Maria not to worry. What I will do for you is I will go ahead and issue you a $20 promotional credit to your account so the item that you should be getting free will be covered by this $20.4:59:23 PM

    • Cris3901 says:

Didn’t work for me. I couldn’t get the accessories to show for free. The “chat” lady was trying to send me to Marketing and Promotions so I could dispute the additional charges but that would be 1-2 business days. Said I could order and if I didn’t get the credit send it all back. Looks like i”ll have to wait for Black Friday on this one. Shucks. But the up side is that my Chat lady was nice.

  • Jen says:

Yesterday and today, Toys “R” Us was giving a free $30 gift card with the purchase of a leap pad whole trip. I got the leap pad ultra, it came with the skin, and on Saturdays at Toys “R” Us between now and December 21, If you use an R us credit card, you get an additional 10% off. And since I opened the credit card account today, I got 15% off initially. So it took 15% off, then it took an additional 10% off, and I got the 30 Dollar Promo card, which brought the price of the leap pad ultra down to just about $85.

  • Janie says:

I just chatted with Amazon and was told the offers can’t be combined. Oh well, still a good deal.

  • Julia says:

Hey Colin every thing I add to my cart is full price and nothing comes up free. Is there any way you could check to see if this deal still works?

  • Erin says:

We have a leap pad 2 and recently my daughter has some how managed to break the screen! Yikes! Has anyone had to replace theirs? I was wondering if there was a good deal on black friday for the leap pad 2….I thought I seen it mentioned that a store was selling them for $40. Does anyone know??? HELP!!

  • Lori DeLude says:

Hi all — thanks for the links! FYI, I missed the boat on the Toys R Us credit over the weekend, so I thought I was out of luck .. until I saw this. I have seen all of the Black Friday ads in advance (BFads.net) and the Ultra is simply not going to be on sale.

I was not able to add the promo headphones/case AND the promo gift card and get ALL the discounts … but I did an online chat/help with Amazon customer service, and they manually discounted for me :) Basically, the $30 gift card applied as free when I clicked “Checkout” but the other two items did not — he had me checkout, then he went in to manually adjust my total so the final price was $149. Can’t beat it — thanks!

  • Christy says:

When I add it all to my cart it totals over $200. It takes off the #30 gift card but not the earphones or skin. HELP! please

    • Lori DeLude says:

So, the truth I found out is — either offer is valid, but they cannot be combined. HOWEVER — I did not know that when I contacted Amazon via chat for assistance, and the guy was nice .. he had me check out for the cost of the accessories in my cart while he was on chat — then he adjusted my total. Maybe if you give it a try, they will do the same for you?

  • Barbara says:

Just spent an hour on the phone with Amazon. The free headphone and skin offer is no longer valid. Sadly, my rep didn’t offer to adjust my total! :( Wish I could have got in on this one! Still may take advantage of the $30 amazon gift card-it is still valid!

  • renee says:

I just managed to get the deal done…. I added them all and got the gift card to work…. I went onto chat and told them about the deal. She told me she would give me the credit after I paid and I sure enough did….. 157.33 for pad skin headphones and gift card
