No, you can’t buy gift cards with a gift (at JCPenney). I tried it and the transaction wouldn’t go through 🙁

No. To my understanding, just like any credit card, gift cards are not an accepted form of payment.

Has anyone bought this today? Do you need a code or does it ring up automatically? I got a small 4 page ad in my paper yesterday that doesn’t list it but I see it online on the ad.
I noticed Staples does this; in-store ad isn’t the same as what we can view online.
In the past when a sale/special didn’t ring up properly, my cashier brought up the ad online on their computers and altered the price for me.
Btw, there are 2 codes (192572 and 192571). You may want to bring that in just in case.
Anyone know if the gift card will work at the Sephora counter inside JC Penney?

I shop at the sephora frequently and my understanding is they are two separate entities and the gift card for JCP would not work there
I have used a jcp gift card there. But I believe there are different types so I’m not 100% sure if this one will work. i plan to try it though.
I think there would be a logo or notation on the backside of the gift card stating where it can be used in addition to JCP (photo, salon, etc).
But, on a side note, JCP credit cards can be used at Sephora in JCP and stand alone Sephoras (and website). I had a wild time when I found that out. lol

I just did this today in Northern CA. There was not a sign advertising the deal, but the $10 automatically came off at the register. I bought 2 $25 JCP giftcard.

I just went to staples with my paypal Mastercard from CVS to do this deal, and I somehow crashed their entire computer system. So I wasn’t able to get the JCP gift card, but the manager did give me $60 in Staples vouchers far all the time I waited, so I’m gonna call it a win

Deal did not work @ my local CA store. We tried the 2 codes mentioned above and they did not work. Also I did not see this deal in my local online ad. =(
My staples in NJ had no idea what I was talking about. I’m annoyed that this is not working in the store. Now I will have a live chat with Staples cust svc to get my $10 back. Grrrrr
Hi…This deal did not work for me. I’m visiting family in Charlotte, NC so it looks like might not work here.
My staples store in MI didn’t know about it either. I showed the cashier the hip2save link. She called the manager over. He didn’t know anything about it either so they scanned the card & it rang up as $40! She scanned 2 of them so I got $100 in JCP gift cards for $80.
Better yet I had an American express “offer” of spend $75 at staples save $25!! So $100 in JCP gift cards cost $55!!!!! Be sure to check your American express account summary page for offers. Lots of great deals.
