I’m not completely sure, but this model seems to be the previous generation based on comparing specs at B&N.com to the Walmart.com. The new, redesigned Glowlight is white and has a higher screen resolution from what I gather.

I don’t keep up with the latest e-readers (still getting plenty of use out of my now 3 year old plain Nook Simple Touch) but I believe the white device you are talking about is the Nook Glowlight (no Simple Touch). I know it is newer, and is *almost* the same as the older Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight, but there are some design differences. For my taste, I don’t like that they removed the manual page turn buttons on either side of the screen. More importantly, BN is *still* selling the “old” Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight, currently listed as $99 on their website. So this is a savings of 50%, even if it’s not their latest/greatest.

can u read kindle books on nook

Can you read books you bought that are formatted to be read on a Kindle? In the strictest sense, yes. But not without first stripping the DRM and reformatting the book files (to .epub). And at that point it’s hard to call them “kindle” books. Amazon keeps a tight rein on the bookstore by using their own file format that’s different from the type most other retailers use.

Got one for my father-in-law who moved into a smaller apartment and has no room for books and he loves to read. Thanks Collin! A great bargain and gift!
