I would love to hear people’s experience. Has it been worth your time in reference to how much you earned?

    • Melissa

re: Has it been worth your time in reference to how much you earned?
I haven’t signed up for this but it seems to me to require a huge amount of time invested to earn even $5. At 2 points a comment to get $5, it will take 250 comments. To earn the $25 Amazon card, it will take 1250 comments. Think about how much time it would take to do either of those. Personally, I like to earn more than a few pennies per minute. Simply by following Hip2save and doing some of the special deals I can save $5 or $25 or more often in a simple shopping transaction. And I don’t have to deal with Facebook, which I despise.

      • Claudia

Your calculations are right. I think it’s a neat concept, but it was definitely not worth my time. You would have to spend a least several hours to earn $5.

      • Leah

Seems to me that it’s be more efficient time wise to just leave 25 reviews…at essentially $1/review, it seems worth it to me. Then again, I love writing reviews because I always read tons of reviews before buying a product/planning a trip/eating at a new restaurant…

        • Leah

Oops, misread! Guess it’s actually 250 reviews 😛

      • Sussie

You are absolutely right. I calculate the value of my time, even with couponing.

    • cnj6226

I have been an active member for a few weeks now & average $5 a week & only spend about an hour a day on the site. I really love it & it is so worth my time! Not only do you get rewards but you connect with some fabulous people who share your interests. The points add up a lot quicker than you would think. I don’t even write the reviews or do the bonus area, if I did I would prob rack up 3x’s the points! It is so much easier than the other sites where you earn points. I think you should at least give it a shot! Find some topics that interest you, make some comments, share some advice, ask & answer some questions, & gain some valuable information all while meeting new like-minded people & earning some great rewards!

*once you sign up, check out the bonus area for easy point offers, some are just to click on the site;)…happy chatting!!

    • Krystal

I signed up through your link Lisa, Im going to give it a try… I was wondering if the things we comment on through the website gets posted on our facebook page? If so is there a way to turn that option off? if anyone wants to use my referral link its https://chatabout.com/home/54455 thank you 🙂

      • Sussie

You should create another facebook account that is not used for anything personal. I have 2 that are used for couponing only.

      • cnj6226

I have been using chatabout for several weeks now & my comments have never been shared with another site. Not even facebook.

It is a good idea to make a 2nd facebook page tho, I have one just for close friends & family & another for coupons, reward sites, & other information type items.

  4. Sid

    You have to have Facebook

    • Kam

Aww, I don’t like that. So now I have to make “real” facebook page just to get a Paypal cash out. I also see that they don’t have a username option to hide your real name when commenting. I think I’m going to wait on this to see if they change their signup requirements later on.

  5. Gwen

I signed up under Lisa’s referral link. (#3 above). It would be GREAT if someone could sign up under my referral link!!

    https://chatabout.com/home/54461

    Thanks, Gwen

    • Lisa

      thanks Gwen;)!

    • Sussie

It is in very poor taste to post your referral link on someone else’s blog. These people work hard to get information to those interested. You should be ashamed of yourself!

      • Lily

Wow. You should be ashamed of YOURSELF. Collin always encourages people to post their referral links, or information if they’re a seller of Avon, Scentsy, etc. If Collin felt disrespected, she simply wouldn’t allow the comments to be posted. There’s no need to judge.

      • Toni

Susie, get off your high horse dear. Colin doesn’t mind & next time you read a post from hip2save, look to see whom they are giving credit to. I love Colin and her deals, but there are times someone SHARED the deal or she snatched if from another page.

  6. fran

    Ladies,
Keep in mind that Collin gets all these deals for us, deals that most of us would not take the time to search. Collin did say to “share your experience”, not “share your referral link”. Please be respectful to Collin and post your link on your fb wall or send it to your friends.

    • Ashley57

Collin would not allow them to be posted if she didn’t allow it. She has to approve every comment posted with a link. People signing up can then do whichever one they want. If you feel it is right to use Collin’s, then do it. Others have the right to choose if they want to use someone else’s.

      • Shanna

OMG who cares!!!! I though this was a site to get deals, if you want to go thru her link because you feel its fair, do it, but please don’t make someone else feel bad by insinuating they are being “disrespectful” because they choose to help another person out. If she didn’t want folks doing it she would delete their post. It is the single most annoying thing I see in this site! You don’t like it, keep it to yourself!

    • Mourrene

      I agree with you, Fran.

      • Christine

Same i will never sign up for anything through anyone but Collins link.

    • nicole

Why is it that people must speak for Collin she has posted many times its okay for people to post referral links before. She is a very nice person and I’m sure it doesn’t bother her and if it did she would say so. It’s her blog and if it doesn’t bother her I’m not sure why it bothers you.

      • Angie

Where did she say that in this post? I don’t see it. I, too, would never use any referral link but Collin’s. She can’t stop every person with no sense of decorum, but that does not make it right. Thanks Collin for all you do for us…it is the least I can do to use your links!

      • Sussie

Well even if she says it’s ok, what kind of person would do this in good conscience?

        • Toni

Are you new here???? Attention people Colin does not find all these deals on her own or with her hip crew. Sometimes she gets them from other deals sites!!! Women are so much drama!!!

          • Jan Heinsler

I like you, you make so much sense and are my kind of person, Why is everyone is getting upset is beyond me,

            \

    • Ashley

Agreed Fran. I always use Collins link and never post my own, she deserves the credit 🙂

      • Lily

        Good for you.

        • Ashley57

You guys might want to check out a post Collin did many years ago called “Mind Your Own Business”. I think this falls there.

  7. maysie

I signed up for this websit over a year ago. In my opinion, it takes too much effort/time to cash out.

    • Pam

I agree. While the premise is promising, remember the mantra that nothing in life is free. The time it takes to get to the awards in my opinion is better spent on other sites, where awards can be generated faster.

      • Eli

I must disagree with your mantra. It’s outdated and cliche. We get a lot of free stuff in life. Free love and care from parents and friends, free samples from companies, free cashback from regular shopping trips, free after rebate products, free (before tax, if applicable) prizes from contests and sweepstakes, free $25 Domino’s e-gift card from hip2save, etc.

        • Ashley57

That stuff wasn’t really free (except the love and care part maybe). Companies still have to pay for samples to be made and mailed, pay for the cashback, etc. When we get a Coke for free, 100 other people have their Coke price raised a penny (or whatever it is, I just simplified it here for an example). I too get a lot of samples etc, but don’t be fooled into thinking it was completely free. That is what the mantra means – nothing in life is free – you or someone had to pay for it at some point.

        • Delia

Time is money so nothing in life is truly free.

    • cnj6226

Maysie, you should give it another try, they have made a lot of changes & actively ask for suggestions to make it even better. My experience with the site has been very positive!

  8. Claudia

I’m signed up, but it takes a TON of time to even earn $5. You usually earn 2 points for a post, and posts need to be at least 20 words of real content. Therefore, it takes about 250 posts to earn a $5 gift card! You can make money a lot more quickly doing surveys or even just clipping coupons.

    • Alex

Have you tried the Bonus area. You can earn points there VERY fast. 🙂

    • cnj6226

I prefer chatabout over a survey site any day! With chatabout not only am I connecting with new people who share my interests but I am sharing and gaining some great knowledge on topics that I enjoy. I never get that from surveys. Plus I never seem to qualify for surveys after I spend all that time trying to, it ends up a big waste of my time. With chatabout I spend about an hour a day enjoying my time & average $5/wk & if I wrote reviews or took advantage of the bonus area I would make even more!

  9. Lily

I love ChatAbout! I just discovered the site a couple days ago and I’m hooked 😀 It’s my new addiction! There are so many topics to browse through, it’s endless. And if a topic doesn’t currently exist, just add it! I am surprised at how quickly I gained points, too. The big points are in writing articles and writing reviews. But even aside from the points, it’s FUN!! Reading other people’s comments gives you possibly a new perspective on a topic. It’s easy to navigate and the people there are friendly. Posts are not as strick as say for example WebAnswers, who recently closed my account with no explanation, and no reason as far as I know! I definitely recommend making an account on ChatAbout, and enjoy! 😀

  10. Sherry

It’s not going to make you rich, no, but it can certainly give you a little pocket money. I’ve cashed out a few times with relatively little effort –just the result of getting involved in a few good discussions– and I appreciate that the moderators are very involved. I’ve been scammed by other sites, but so far so good with this one.

  11. Brenda

I love Chat About! I have only been there for a few weeks and I have really enjoyed the community and have earned enough points to cash in but I am saving up my points for the “big prize”. Of course you’re not gonna rich doing it but any extra money I can earn, I appreciate and will take. I usually waste a lot of time browsing Facebook so now I “waste” my time by answering questions, getting to know others and I get paid for it. I don’t spend a lot of time there but when I am bored, not working, and just want something to do, I head over there to see what others may need help with. It’s really not hard to earn points. I am 1/2 way to the $25 Pay Pal payout and I only do it when I have time. The points add up quickly….you find your self answering question after question before you realized you have racked up quite a few. Make sure to check out the Bonus Section and answer the daily question….that alone is worth 5 EASY points. Share your affiliate link and get your friends to join and you’ll earn 20% of the points they earn.
If you have a question, you normally head over to Google, right? Well ask that same question at Chat About and get paid for it and meet some wonderful people.
If you’re interested in signing up, I would appreciate if you would use my referral link.

I joined ChatAbout this month and I have already cashed out four times for the $5 Paypal option. I have enough to cash out two more times already as of today. It is VERY easy to accumulate points/cash on the site.

I wanted to get that part out of the way first because I know some people are only interested in the earning potential of the site, and I will admit that is what drew me at first as well, but I have come to actually enjoy talking with people.

My favorite topic is the Photography chat. I’ve found others who love photography and we are sharing and talking about our pictures. I’ve never had that many people to talk to in once place about something I love.

I’ve also found numerous other topics to talk with people about. It really is a fun way to make a little spending money. Y’all should check it out.

  13. cnj6226

I love using chatabout & am really happy I found it! I spend about an hour a day on the site & average about $5 a week but could make a lot more if I wrote reviews or did the bonus area. I love connecting with people with my same interests & learning new information. It’s a very fun site to use.

There are no surveys or pointless tasks that waste your time, just sharing & learning. You find topics that you like, make comments, respond to others, share ideas, gain valuable knowledge, ask questions, answer questions of others, & enjoy yourself, all while earning points that you can redeem for great items or easy pay outs/gift cards. They also pay quickly, which is a huge plus!

Don’t let the point system throw you off, you do only get 2 points per comment but you will be pleasantly surprised how fast that adds up! It is asked that you try to make your comments about 20 words, but think about that, it’s only around 2 short sentences & it doesn’t always have to be 20 words, as long as it is informative and relevant to the conversation. The guidelines help the site stay informative.

Bottom line, this is a great site & I encourage everyone to give it a try. I think you will like it! Happy chatting!

  14. Angela H.

Thought i would give it a try but realized you cannot earn points using a mobile device 🙁

  15. Winifred speight

I can’t sign in to chatabout via facebook

  16. Tammy

I am always looking for new ways to earn rewards. This sounds easy and fun – and you can beat a rewards card from Amazon.

  17. Nahuta

Leaving my link here, every day anyone clicks your link from a new IP/computer it’s a free point, so making sure to click back every day!

  18. Monika

I used this site for a couple of months. I was always paid, however, I got fed up with all the changes that were being done to the site. After we started to chat a lot about topics like Swagbucks and other earning sites, they took down the most popular ones, claiming that we were somehow confusing other users about the site since we were chatting about a few topics so much. HUH? We were probably making a lot of money from those topics, which is the real reason why it was shut down.

And then I noticed that freedom of speech was not exactly respected on that site. We were basically pressured to praise Chatabout to the skies…some of the daily Poll question answers were so biased (praising chatabout) that it made you feel like an idiot to chose the negative answer. For instance, a typical question would be something like this:

Q: Do you use the “Bonus Offers” section on Chatabout?

    Possible answers:

    – Yes, I LOVE it.
    – No, I don’t like easy points.

Some of the daily poll questions were so offensive to some people that they actually did not answer them and skipped the 5 easiest points they could have gotten all day.

And again, we were expected to praise the site to the skies. With every gift card code, they would send a request that we post on Chatabout that we had received the reward. All nice and good, but if you ever posted even a POLITE critique of chatabout.com on that site, it would be deleted within 24 hours. I finally posted a couple of comments mentioning that I was tired of Chatabout’s agenda (in a civil way, of course), and I was banned. That is fine by me. That place was being to feel like a regime.

Bottom line: Avoid Chatabout.com and stick with Swagbucks and Bing Rewards. It is a lot of typing for a little money, and you never know when the administrators will tweak the rules yet again, without any prior notice. Don’t expect that you can be frank there if something displeases you with the site.

    • Janet Heinsler

I got kicked off because I dared to have an opinion that some people did not agree with and they complained, You just get kicked off not talking to, It is very much against freedom of speech.
