Im considering purchasing this as I am in need of a new blanket does anyone recommend it? Is it good as its own blanket or do you need to layer in order to be warm? Any thoughts will help, thanks!

    • Julie

Normally you would put a down comforter into it. It protects the comforter.
All other duvets I’ve owned would be too thin for a blanket in the winter. You could use it in summer as a blanket. Hope that helps!

        Thanks for your help!

I got this exact one for Christmas after wanting it for a year (and waiting for it drop below $59). I bought it for $35 at Christmas and seriously LOOOOOVE it. So soft. Lays and washes well. I currently use this with our down comforter in it, but will use it by itself in the summer. Medium weight by itself.

I’m curious if I could use something like this to update our set that we already have We have a comforter (but not a down comforter)…could I just shove that inside?

    • Mary

Yes….any comforter can go in a duvet. We use a down alternative comforter. It’s so easy to just take the duvet off, wash it and put it back on. Hope this helps:)

    • CJ

I don’t think so because the down comforter has loops to actually tie the down comforter to the duvet and if you are unable to tie it then you will constantly be trying to straighten it out

      • Amy

My down does not have tie down yes it can be tricky but is very easy once it’s in. Occasionally you need to realign but no biggie.

        • Andrea

Or, stitch a bit of shoe lace to each corner of the cover and tie it that way.

    • Janine Markell

Sure, any comforter (not already in a duvet) would work fine. We have this flannel in the sheet set and it’s the nicest, softest best-made flannel we’re ever owned. Doesn’t shed, either…..just so nice.

Mine doesn’t have ties and stays in and situated nicely! I don’t think you should worry about that! Def a cheap price, duvets are typically really pricey!

“Amazon has quietly launched a private label, where they manufacture and sell products, under the Pinzon brand.

If you go to http://www.pinzon.com, it is a redirect to this Pinzon page on Amazon where it is mentioned that Pinzon is a manufacturer of bath towels, sheet sets, furniture and kitchen gadgets.

Here’s the exact verbage they use:
Invite Amazon.com’s Pinzon products into your kitchen and home for their form and function, and experience their style, craftsmanship, and value. We travel the world to find the best materials and designs for Pinzon products and use the most sensible manufacturing methods. We thoroughly test each Pinzon item and rely on feedback from our customers to help us deliver the highest quality. Check out all of our Pinzon products, including bedding, towels, and cook’s tools, and you’ll find something for all occasions at the best values. With a selection that continues to grow, the Pinzon brand is set to become a part of your lifestyle.

The name Pinzon is another clue that this is an Amazon brand. Vicente Yáñez Pinzón was a Spanish explorer that discovered the Amazon river from which Amazon, of course, draws its name.”

I have no affiliation with the above source and only wanted to share the interesting origin of the name Pinzon, which apparently was derived from a Conquistador who explored the Amazon jungle.
