Wow! If you live in Charlotte (NC), Dallas (TX), Lexington (KY), San Diego (CA), Atlanta (GA), or Huntsville (AL) and are a Walmart shopper, here’s a sweet rewards program you may be interested in! Walmart recently launched a new Beta program for select markets called Walmart Savings Catcher that ensures you’re paying the lowest in-store prices possible at your local Walmart.

Here’s how it works:

* After making your in-store purchases at Walmart, go here and enter your receipt number (TC #) & date found at the bottom of your receipt in the boxes on the right-hand side. Next, click “Get Started” to log into your account using your Walmart.com information.

* Walmart Savings Catcher will then compare the amount you paid for each eligible item on your receipt with advertised prices at other stores in your area (including most grocery items, health & beauty products, & more!).

* If ANY item was advertised at a lower price at a competitor’s store in your area, they’ll match that price and give you the difference in a Walmart eGift Card! Awesome!

Savings Catcher does not compare the following types of offers:

* Items that require a separate purchase to get the advertised price (Example: “Buy oatmeal to get cereal for $1.”)
* Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get a free product (Example: “Buy both oatmeal & cereal to get milk for free.”)
* Items that require a purchase to get a gift card (Example: “Buy a 12 pack of paper towels to get a $5 gift card.”)
* Buy one get one free (BOGO) where there is no actual item price listed (Example: Peter Pan Peanut Butter, buy one, get one free. Save up to $2.50”)
* Going out of business or closeout prices
* Percentage off (Example: “All mascara, 40% off”)
* General merchandise items, (including, but not limited to, electronics, media and gaming, toys, sporting goods, housewares, small appliances, home décor, bedding, books and magazines, apparel and shoes, jewelry, furniture, office supplies and seasonal products).
* Non-branded items.
* Tobacco, firearms, gasoline, tires, prescription drugs, optical and photo products and services, or products that require a service agreement such as wireless, automotive or financial products.

Awesome! Hope it starts up here!

  2. Crystal

Ooo Charlotte. So close but to far. I hope they continue this. Would defiantly eliminate hassle at check out. If they expand this program please post about it.

    • Crystal

Ok just to try. I’m about 3 hour drive from Charlotte and it let me enter a receipt it says it will process for a while so I’ll check back tomorrow.

  3. Cindy

Thanks, Collin, so much for posting this! I just uploaded two receipts from this week and will see if I save anything after they are processed! We are in San Diego and can always use the extra savings here! 🙂

    • Cindy

Just to mention, got my results, after spending $96 in two trips, I received a 15 cent credit…very funny!

  4. brdavis55

Awe…why can’t it be al all Walmarts? boo, but yah to the areas it is covering. Hope it happens everywhere soon. Would love to join.

  5. Suzyq

So if it doesn’t match general merchandise it’s only good for groceries and grocery ads?? Strange but still helpful

  6. karen

Interesting. I save a TON at walmart by price matching. I wonder if they will still manually price match with this.

    • Kelly

I think they would still have to manually price match since there are so many exclusions for the program. I never want to see that go away!

  7. Dolly

I’m in Lexington, KY but I really don’t shop at Walmart too much. It is actually cheaper to go to Meijer or Kroger and use coupons.

    • Tarin

I agree, I rarely go to Walmart and I live in Lexington. I never have a problem with coupons at Kroger or Meijer but Walmart is always a hassle to try to price match or use a coupon. I actually had a cashier tell me once that she knew I was lying about the lunchables being 99 cents at Meijer! don’t think this is even worth trying.

  8. Amber

I don’t like it. That means we have to trust Wal-Mart that they are really doing price comparison.

    • Linda

I agree Amber and there not the most honest store with the things they have done in the past and been on the news for i hate this i was there last night they would not price match anything

  9. Kristen

What a cool idea! The problem I see (besides that this isn’t in my area 😉 ) is that I buy a lot of generic products, which I don’t think could be compared.

  10. Shonda

I am in Lexington, and do agree with Dolly about prices being a bit cheaper, but it’s worth checking out to see how it works…interesting concept

  11. n.o.girl

They were destined to come up with a promotion of some sort. . Just about everyone has something to offer. .. trying to remain competitive! …Just as kroger also has a gas reward program. .. For that reason I bypass Walmart to accumulate points with kroger to Save at the pumps! I look at it as a double reward. But I do want to see the growth of this new program! !

  12. Jessica

Wonder if this means they won’t price match anymore? To me this is too much trouble. I would rather price match at the register (even though half the time the cashier acts annoyed).

  13. cheapcheap goes the mommy

alot of stores don’t list the bogo prices, or at least the ones i shop at, so i’m not sure if this would work for me…haven’t been to Walmart in two months…hoping it will be another two months before i’m forced to walk two gymnasium lengths to get a gallon of milk 🙂 I just coupon at small stores so I don’t “need at nap” after shopping like when you go to Walmart , its exhausting! 🙂

    • Patty

I love your description of shopping at Walmart.

  14. Crissy

Anyone know whether you get a message saying you’re not in an eligible area if you try to enter a receipt then log in? I’m technically in Fort Worth, TX but DFW is often considered one area so I wondered whether we’d be included. I successfully entered my receipt from yesterday but wasn’t sure if it would tell me up front I’m not in a program area or whether I’ll get a message after my receipt is reviewed. I got the notification that my receipt would be processed.

    • jody3316

I’m in the DFW area as well – not Dallas proper. Did your receipt get processed?

      • Crissy

It did get processed even though I’m in FW. I spent about $85 & got a whopping $.55 credit. Guess it’s $.55 I wouldn’t have otherwise had though. It tells you specifically which products they found a cheaper price for which is kind of fun to see. I definitely hope it doesn’t take the place of price matching down the road though b/c I don’t know that I trust their search for the lowest prices.

        • mary

Did you actually receive the credit? I redeemed for $5.62 2 months ago and never heard from them

  15. Patsy Scott

I’m an hour out of Charlotte and it worked for me.

  16. Julie

I just tried a receipt, and it uploaded, but said it would take 3 days to process. I live just outside Charlotte, so I hope it works. Seems like a cool idea. I actually hate price matching at Walmart. When I have been shopping all day, my kid is crying, I reach the register and I just want to GET OUT as quickly as possible… I’d actually rather take my receipt home and upload it after bed time 🙂 However, I do wonder how all the B1G1s will work if the price isn’t listed, BUT you can’t price match B1G1 without prices on them in the store anyway.

    • Lynn

Maybe it varies store to store but my Walmart gives the bogo on their price…so if it is $2.39 at publix bogo and Walmart sells it for $1.88 I get two for $1.88..

  17. LauraL

In Chicago the now gone Dominick’s had something similar. They had an app that would price match other stores. You would be surprised at the few items which qualified – there are a ton of exclusions. All the good deals seem to be BOGO or a % off, so they wouldn’t qualify. Plus the non-branded stuff would probably exclude all meat, veggies, and bakery.

  18. Rich

Entered in receipt last night and received $3.52 within a few hours. Live within an hour from Huntsville, AL.

  19. jody3316

Thanks for the information – it’s worth a shot!

  20. ann

Entered 3 receipts and got 2 cents back. Don’t be too sad if you don’t have this in your area.

    • B

      ditto

  21. Nita

I just entered my receipt last night got my results this morning. I spent $118 @ walmart after coupons. Ended up with 8.09 back from the savings catcher. This is great for people like me who dont go through the sales papers. I just shop for what i need when i need it. This is a great way to get some benefits without spending a lot of time researching prices.

    • Nita

Oh, I am in Charlotte. I really like that it gives u a list of the items and where they were cheaper. My list was 7 different stores – grocery and drug stores. I would have never taken in 7 different circulars for price matching. Too much of a hassle while shopping with a toddler. This is a program i will continue to use!

  22. Crissy

Was going to enter my receipt from today but the site isn’t pulling up now for some reason. I’ll try again tomorrow & hope it’s just technical difficulties.

  23. Stephenie

I did not get my e-mails for two receipts from this weekend. I also cannot get the site pulled up.

  24. brenda ellsworth

i can not get the site to pull up.

  25. Shirley Lustenberger

cannot register, where do I go to register for walmart?

  26. Bridgett

I live in Florence AL which is about 1.5 hours from Huntsville AL and they are passing out flyers in our store. I was able to submit a receipt.

  27. Dylan

In Wal-Mart’s UK division they have had this for the past 12 years! Must have thought to bring the idea here! If anyone is interested in learning about that program, Wal-Mart’s UK stores are named ASDA and the program is the ASDA Price Guarantee. Google it.

  28. B

Buyer beware — walmart WILL price match produce at the register. Do not expect any money back for produce from submitting your receipt number to savings catcher.

  29. Jerry Stremovihtg

It needs to be nationwide, like Daytona or Orlando Florida for sure.

  30. Kris in MN

Im tired of being the person held up behind you while you price match many of your items in line so I welcome this new idea and I thank Walmart for the innovative idea to help us all. Whatever you get is more than you had before you took a moment to enter your receipt and saves me time because Im not behind you in line and saves you time because you haven’t had to research your local prices. It’s a win win! It’s a beta application too people, there is great chance for necessary changes but if it wasn’t available in your area you would complain about that. I hope you continue it…Thanks Walmart!!

  31. Tara

Im wondering about the (example) 2/$2.50 or 3/$10.00 type sales … i know it wont do BOGO without prices listed ….are these the same type as BOGO ? im looking up circulars for other stores without having to do it in the store… i have already saved nearly 5$ lol but considering i never price match this helps me a lot …i did read that you can use coupons and still save with the catcher from the original price not the couponed price….

  32. mommaram

I LOVE SAVINGS CATCHER! Even though i ad match at checkout, everyweek savings catcher finds another 2 or 3 dollars i missed! this week, it even matched some Kohls stuff, not just albertson’s and kroger! have saved 40 dollars over the past 7 weeks even with all my ad matching at time of purchase!

I live in a small farm town in Ohio. Will it ever get to us?

    • Joyce

We live in Ohio too, hopefully it will get to us all, Donna!!!

  35. Lynne

The first time I used this app for Wal-Mart I scanned my receipt where I spent $270.00,mostly on groceries. Within the same day ,they price matched, processed and sent my credit . $8.75. Wow. I then was able to post the credit to my account and used some of it to purchase photos. Very pleased and impressed…Worked great!!

  36. Teresa Taylor

FYI…..someone ? hacked my saving catchers account and used my savings….maybe wal-mart not wanting to honorer the savings

    • Lisa

Same thing happened to me. What can we do?

    • SHARON CARR

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER. WERE YOU ABLE TO CONTACT WALMART TO RESOLVE THIS?

  37. Joyce

They ought to do this savings match in all Walmart stores! Not only a few states, offer it to all the states!

  38. mo

I tried the walmart savings catcher and got $2.41 back. Looked at app tonight and that savings has reset to zero.

  39. Antoinette strickland

When a company puts out a program to save you money like Walmart only to offer the program in select states, this is discrimination.

  40. Silver

I think we should be able to choose how we price match cuz it’s not working for me. I’ve been waiting 5 days.

  41. Iwanna Frizzell

i can’t get my password to work!!! How can I create a new password for my account??

  42. Barbara Brown

Oh please, give me a break! You must be freaking crazy. Why would all these positive comments be on here if WM was trying to cheat somebody? At least be grateful that the company is trying to save people money so they can live better.

  43. Mark Price

What can be done about this fraud?
