Sent from reader, Tobey:

I have been couponing for many years and last summer, I started using currency pages for my printed coupons and they are the perfect fit. What makes me happy? Filling my coupon book. I think my sons first word was coupon. These pages come 4 to a page – I cut them to 3 to fit my binder. With these, I no longer have to fold my coupons. Just wanted to share in case someone else doesn’t know about these yet.

HAPPY FRIDAY! 😀

I had no idea! That is great! Thanks!!!!

    • Rebe

I have used the smaller collection card size but I gave up because the coupons always seem to slip out and fall everywhere in the middle of the grocery store! 🙁

      • Shanshan

Agree I have those, not very safe to use in a store. Also you can only see 3 coupons per page. The 9 pocket is horribly small and painful to take coupons in and out.

The best I’ve tried so far is the Ultra Pro 8 pocket. You see 8 coupons per page. Plus, most clipped coupons from SS, RP and PG fit right in, and for printed coupon you only need to fold it once.

  2. Karen

    Great idea!

  3. Jennifer

could you please tell us what binder you use also mines to bulky to carry around

    • Tobey

I am using my old work planner. It is an 8 x 6. I can’t close it because it is too full but if works. I have been using if for 8 years And still going strong.

    • DD

I use a 2″ “better” – higher end binder from Walmart. I bought many packages of tabs and made all the categories that I use and & shop by…many more that the standard. I also use a pretty 99 cents tote bag and just carry the binder in that….so much easier to tote it in and out.

  4. Laura

I love it! I have stayed away from binders for organizing my coupons because I didn’t like the thought of folding them.

  5. Julie

    Where do you find these?

    • HelpingMama

      Got mine on Amazon!

    • Tobey

I got mind on amazon as well.

  6. Heather

Clever! Binders never worked for me bc if the coupon folding + time. I started printing coupons and this is perfect!

  7. Winnie

Wow! Perfect! Where do I buy the currency pages and binder. I am new to couponing

    • Tobey

I got them on amazon. They come full sheet and 3 hole punched. I use my old work planned so I have to punch holes to make if fit. I like a smaller binder that is why I did that.

  8. Meghan

That’s awesome! Where could I pick up some of these?

    • Tobey

      100 4-Pocket Currency Pages 2.75″ x 6.5″ BCW NEW
      BCW (21)
This is what I bought from amazon, $16.99 for 100. I use to use trading card pages, now this is a I use. I even use it for smaller coupons, I just put 2 in a pocket side by side.

  9. Queenjen87

Page protectors are wonderful too. 3 to a page coupons fit perfect! I put the whole page in, takes a few extra minutes to print the same 3 coupons at a time from all my devices and computers, but well worth the effort to have 10 copies in one spot with no hunting!

    • Tarri

Thanks, I am going to do this.

  10. Pamela

    AWESOME!

  11. Farrah

You can find them at Staples too.

  12. Renee

Do you have comic book/sports cards store in your area? That’s where I get mine.

  13. v

I use the long currency holders too. Mine have a blank tiny pocket of wasted space on the right of each section. I’m tempted to cut off the right of the pages. Not sure if it will hold together in the long run though.
Did your’s come as pictured without any side section.Tobey?

I also use the following 31 tab divider set….
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IBVK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00006IBVK&linkCode=as2&tag=wwwhip2saveco-20
Bought my setup a couple years back.

There is a cheaper divider set available…it has 26 tabs..

    • v

Oh My!!!! How did that gigantic pic post, lol. Was trying to post the link to the first and second sets of tabs.

    • Tobey

I cut the small pocket off. They sheets are pretty strong, just leave a little edge.

  14. Jessica

OMG this is a wonderful thing I have been needing!!!!!! This is the answer to a less stress couponing time for me!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Tobey

      100 4-Pocket Currency Pages 2.75″ x 6.5″ BCW NEW
      BCW (21)

This is what I ordered from amazon. $16.99 for 100. Totally worth every penny.

      • Jessica

Awesome thank you Tobey 🙂 I’m ordering them right now!!!!

  15. Renee

Why would anyone need that many coupons?

    • Kelly A.

You can never have too many coupons. PS — you are on a couponing website.

      • Rebe

You made me laugh Kelly A.! 🙂

        • Tobey

Can you ever have enough coupons?

      • Renee

I use coupons and love a good deal. But if I had to coupon like this, I’d reevaluate my life and the choices I made. The time it would take to coupon like that would cause me to lose money.

        • Tobey

What do you use for your coupons? I always love to hear how other people organize their coupons.

          • Potato

I just use a coupon organizer bought from Meijer for $4. There is no need to overcomplicate things!

        • v

It saves me so much time. I no longer fumble thru a stack of loose coupons when out shopping. Knowing “alphabetically” where each brand is takes the guess work out of things.
Many times I’ve gone to stores and came across items in the “reduced” cart or shelf…as well as unexpected temp price cuts. Thinking bout the “needed” coupons I left at home makes my heart sink a bit. I live in an area where there are many major grocers within a 1 mile corridor. I walk a lot to the stores with my push cart.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda isn’t an option. By the time I finish my shopping trip, get home, grab those “these will get those reduced items at a fantastic price” coupons and get back to the store….someone else better prepared has happened upon the markdowns and cleared them out.
Not too much of a time consumer for me. In the end, I save both time and cash.

          • Tobey

I too hate missing a clearance or price reduction and take all my coupons with me. I hate when I haven’t cut my coupons yet and I know there is one at home I could have used. I know I can’t get every deal but I would sure love to.

  16. Kelly A.

Not to be pessimistic, but I have those 9/pg. baseball card holders, and my binder is stuffed, so being able to only fit three to a page would be impossible. Also, I organize all of my coupons (printable and newspaper coupons) by category, so that would be a lot of subcategorizing. Just would not work for me.

    • Karen

I was thinking the same thing. Only 3 to a page would make for a huge binder. I actually bought some of these a while ago on amazon but never used them for this reason. Maybe a couple of these at the front of each category would work.

  17. Jennifer Hess

Are these side or top loading? Thank you!

    • Sara

      top-loading

  18. ihearthip

I use the Couponizer. It was a little pricey – like $25 but it is easy to carry and holds mine without folding. Plus came with useful couponing tools.

    • ErinM

Bummer…it was retired last year and now unavailable.

  19. v

My binder is 6 inches thick with the fold back and away front cover. Got it at a thrift store for a couple bucks. That was my starting point. Sturdy binder paired with various sized sheets.

    I started with 50 of the four-pocket sheets….like these:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004RWBFFG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004RWBFFG&linkCode=as2&tag=wwwhip2saveco-20

There is also a good bulk deal:

  20. Aprille

Why are you printing in color??? You must be RICH!!! 🙂

    • Ashley

How can I change my printer to black only!?? Anyone know??? It’s an HP… So I can print from my IPad-

      • v

What is the model # of your HP printer?

      • candi

How do you print from your IPad? I have tried several sites but they don’t work…😩 Is there a printing App? I have an HP printer also- smart source , red plum – cant get them to work??

    • Rebecca

My printer costs me $12 a year to refill both color and black thanks to generics on amazon.

    • Tobey

I love color. I actually buy remanufactured ink cartridges, from amazon of course, and color and black ink are the same price. I pay about $4 a cartridge and then I take the empty to staples for $2 reward back. So that is like paying $2 for ink and I use the rewards to buy paper. I feel rich buy saving so much money.

      • Mandy

I have never heard of doing this!!! Does the ink last as long as a new one? I am going to have to look into that!!!!! Thanks so much for all of your comments Tobey!

        • Tobey

I have an old inkjet, it takes hp 74 ink. I would say they last a while. I print a lot if coupons because I have 5 devices and that means 10 prints each so I chAnge the ink about once month. I look at it this way. My Sunday paper costs $2 and I buy 2 a week, that is $16 a month so it is comparable . There is no way I could afford new ink for the office supply store for as many coupons as I print.

    • lj

I just print in color too. I got a set of the generic refillable cartridges on ebay. My HP takes 6 separate cartriges and a set costs about 27.00-30.00. And comes with 6 bottles of ink. One complete set will last me at least 1-2 years, even with all my coupon printing in color! Sooo much cheaper than HP cartridges and I print photos without feeling guilty lol!

      • Tobey

What printer model do you have? I might have to buy one. That sounds like a great printer.

    • aprille

You can just take your color cartridge right out of your printer…it will print b&w without it. Much easier than changing your settings every time. As far as remanufactured ink cartridges- be careful. They are inconsistent and can ruin your printer if you get a bad one. It will also void any warranty you may have on the printer. I bought an old HP LaserJet for $20 (check craigslist…there are a million of them). The cartridge is $80 but If you go to OfficeMax they will price match anything online from a seller with a storefront (no amazon or ebay). I found my $80 cartridge for $50 online from some random store that I’m certain was fraudulent, but they will match the price if its there! So with a coupon, I was able to get my cartridge for $40…the best part is a laserjet yields about 2,500 prints per cartridge and ends up being much cheaper than a standard printer. For as much as we couponers print it is a great investment!

      • Erin

Yes! I LOVE my laserjet! I was really excited when my husband bought a new color printer . . . only to realize it is an inkjet, which I HATE. Still have to use it sometimes, but I love my laserjet.

        • Tobey

I have thought about a laser jet, I see them for crazy special sale prices. I might try it next time I see a good deal.

        • aprille

I love mine too…and will never go back! Its like eating Hershey bars all your life, then discovering Godiva! LOL

    • Karen

I print in color from my dell laptop but not on purpose. I have it set to print b/w fast draft but the coupons.com ones always come out in color. This only happens on coupons.com and only from this computer. Anyone have this issue or know how to solve it?

      • aprille

Try taking your color cartridge out of your printer…it should automatically go to the black cartridge for print jobs then….

  21. leeb

i have been doing this same thing for 5 years but i made my own. i took the clear full pages cut slits into them the size i want. then i put a piece of paper into the middle tape the slits to the paper so the top coupon wont slide down to the next level and i can use both sides. i love it because i can see the whole coupon and expiration dates. it did take some time to make these but it was well worth it and very inexpensive to make.

    • LG

      Now that’s frugal! Great idea!
Also thanks Collin for sharing this idea!

    • Tobey

I love being able to see the expiration date.

    • Judy

You can also use the super sticky post it notes folded over the top slot so the coupons won’t fall out. It can be taken off and on many times without having to replace it. Then, when it won’t stick anymore, just replace the post it note.

      • Tobey

Great idea. The top slot sometimes has issues when I have to many in it.

  22. Katy

I have all various sizes of the baseball card holders. I do like the currency size because the coupons comes out easier. I don’t use mine the way the picture is, I put the smaller upright coupons in, so I can get about 3 on each pouch. The problem sometimes is that they tend to mix with each other when you move the binder too much.

  23. Jennifer

I also use the ones sold by Staples, work great! Bought them when they were on sale or had a coupon. I don’t use a sleeve for each coupon, instead I put them together by type (paper towels get their own pocket, granola bars, dairy, etc) so my binder doesn’t get too bulky. If you have too many of one type you can always divvy them between two pockets. I even have sheets just for store specific coupons which is handy!

I bought a school binder when they went on clearance with all the other school supplies – two things, 1) get one that zips in case it gets turned upside down then all your coupons stay inside, 2) buy a binder that will lay flat (my first zippered binder didn’t want to lay flat – very annoying). It also has some places to hold pens which is nice, and a small pocket on the inside with a few divider slots that I keep extra coupons I haven’t cut out yet or whole coupon inserts & a small pair of scissors.

    • Tobey

I had a binder that did not lay flat. It was actually the first binder I used. It turned me off of using a binder. When I lost my job I tried again by turning my planner into my coupon binder, I have been using it ever since. I do keep my in a carry bag. You have to find what works for you, and when you do it can be so exciting.

  24. Rose Lorenzen

I use 2 zip binders with handles…one for food…one for non food.( cleaning, dog food , paper goods. Toiletries etc) carry in a canvas bag with handles and a strap…I actually sewed coupon pockets…by customizing the full page sheets…still working ..that was when the extreme coming show started and no one had pockets!

  25. Janice Sawyer

I used to do this but I quit. Bought 100 sheets, 3 top loader pockets and only used for a month. I find it time consuming, now I use rectangular plastic container and made dividers. How do you add pictures here?

    • Tobey

I love to hear how other people organize. You truly have to find what works for you. My sister uses her make-up box (use to use her child’s shoe box), using envelops as the dividing pockets.

      • v

I used an old metal “cancelled bank checks” storage container…with handle on top. It was heavy when empty…and could hold a lot of coupon weight and didn’t buckle under pressure. I would cut up cereal boxes to size for divider markers and face the plain tan side forward. I staggered the top tab (just cut that tab section into the box pieces) so I could read the letters easily.
Then came my “serious” couponing awakening. I had to up size for sure. I still have the box. Can’t bring myself to throwing it out. It even had a built in lock.

      • Karen

I used a binder for about a year but found it too time consuming even though I loved being able to see all my coupons while shopping. Now I use a box, a baby wipe box, with labeled legal size envelopes folded to fit as my dividers. It works pretty good.

  26. Jennie Davis

Did not even know they made something like this very good idea Thanks

  27. Alison

I wish I could get past feeling a little embarrassed by my coupons. I just carry one of those little plastic sorters but a real organization system would be so much better…

    • Tobey

I use to be the only one in the store with a binder. Some people stared and others asked questions. Now I feel like I am in a race to get the deals because every one had coupons. Never feel embarrassed about your coupons, when people see how much you save at the check out they will want to cut a coupon too.

      • v

So true. I’ve gotten the “looks” too. I stay focused on listening for the “coupon beeps” and keeping count.
Interesting how those looks go from “frowns” to “eyes wide open…with the wrinkles in the forehead to boot” when the cashier says my total price and what percentage I have saved.
Yep….we couponers definitely open up some eyes. Too bad I don’t accept monetary tips for those lesson sessions, lol.

        • Tobey

Funny, you are so right about the looks turning to questions like where do you get your coupons.

  28. Jessica

Unrelated to this post, is there anyone who has extra Windex Touch-up Rebate Forms for the Try Me Free Offer. I could really use a few. My email is jessicahribal@hotmail.com. Thank you in advance.

  29. Edy

Years ago, 17 there was a plastic box to hold coupons by Rubbermaid with handles love it. Could never get one again . Love your binders perhaps one of you could sell one just ready to put coupons in it. I try years ago to do one with baseball card dividers that didn’t work for me because of size of coupons love the one you post is about

    • Tobey

These current pages are great for all sizes. If the coupon is small I just put two small coupons of the same category, side by side.

  30. Tobey

Call me crazy but I get so excited when my book is full, it looks so beautiful. I always call my coupons money. When I am heady to the store I will say “I have to grab my money” and grab my coupons. My son is almost 6 years old and us learning about money. When I referred to my coupons as money, he asked if I was going to get change back because he wanted some for the vending machine. I laughed.

  31. aprille

And it has actually come to this….a friend of mine had her binder STOLEN right out of her cart at the grocery store! If you have a binder, strap it into the cart!

    • Potato

      lol

    • Erin

Wow! I can’t even imagine that.

    • v

Yep….it happens. The tube covered bike chain that has the built in combination gizmo on the end will work. It can be run thru the rings of the binder.
My binder has a finger hole build in along the spine.
A step above petty larceny as there’s a lot of potential value to a binder full of coupons.

      • Potato

The alternative is to keep an eye on your stuff. Would you abandon your purse in the cart and walk away?

        • v

lol…… Potato. No that I think about it….don’t recall the last time I saw a “seasoned”couponer carrying a purse in the stores I frequent. Since my purse and it’s contents have 99.9% less value than my coupon collection….may be a good idea to take a decoy purse along….to give em options, lol.
My cash stash is always kept close to my heart. A little wilted when I hand it to the cashier…but we each try to keep a straight face during the transfer. 🙂

    • Tobey

I have heard if that happening. I have seen some binders that are huge and are worth more than what is in my purse. People sell coupons so I am certain they new what they were doing.

  32. Jacks

We live in a rural area and only go shopping in the “big city” about once every 2 weeks (there are smaller locally-owned stores close to us–but I’m talking big city like the land of Walmart, Target, and Starbucks). This means of course that I can’t take advantage of every deal out there, but I started organizing my coupons like this a couple months ago and it has really saved my sanity: I scour deal blogs a couple days before our trip and print out all the coupons I need. I then organize them in regular little ol’ white envelopes BY STORE. That way, I’m not carrying mountains of coupons into each store and possibly losing them or forgetting to use them. My “Target” envelope is usually the thickest since you can use store coupons plus manufacturer. ;o) Usually I have a “Walgreens” and “Walmart” thrown in there too, along with various grocery stores. Then, when I envelope is empty I KNOW I’ve used every coupon I planned for that store, and I don’t feel bad about throwing the paper envelope away (since I get 80-100 of them at the $1 store). It has simplified my life sooooo much! :o)

    • Vicki

Staples has awesome envelope sized holders that are clear with a “slide lock”. They go on sale for $1. I keep a few in my purse and use them like you do the envelopes.

  33. Cynthia

I use picture album pages. Same idea they come three slots on each side of page. Never have to fold coupons

    • Tobey

Great, those sound better and bigger than trading card pages which is why I used in the past.

  34. Amber S.

Mind…blown…I didn’t now these existed! Thank you, Tobey!!!!! 😀

  35. Nicole Libertoski

I just print my coupons according to category, three hole punch page and put it in my binder under whatever category they are. I have scissors in my binder, i just cut them out at the store when i need them. No clipping OR folding!

  36. Heidi

Ok so I’m looking on Amazon to order both the pages and a binder but am getting confused. I like the idea of having something smaller – like the 8″ x6″ size. But when you look at the item description on the currency pages you have recommended it says they are actually the size of a full sheet of paper. Do you just cut off the bottom of each page or am I looking at the wrong thing?

    • Heidi

Ugh nm i just re read that you cut them. 5 am and I am not all together!

      • Tobey

The sheet comes full size bu t cut off the top pocket (leaving 3 per page) and I cut off the small pocket that is on the right side of the page. I also have to punch extra holes because it is 3 hole and my binder is 6 hole. ( I just use a sheet of paper that comes with the binder ax a guide for punching the holes), it is extra work but worth it to me.

        • Tobey

The pages are wider Than my binder so I can’t zip it closed but it still works great. I found a small tote and I just carry it in there. Find a small tote that will keep your binder upright that way your coupons don’t fall out.

      • Tobey

        Post-it Tabs with On-the-Go Dispenser, 1-Inch Solid, Red, Yellow, Blue, 22-Tabs/Color, 66-Tabs/Dispenser

This is what I use for my tab dividers. You can find these at most office supply places. Make sure you get the rounded edge ones, they sell a similar style that are not as sturdy.. These are thick like a tab divider should be.
