As most of you know, 9/16/12, was the start of the new Walgreens Balance Rewards Program! Even sweeter, on 5/5/13, they started a new point system in which you can redeem your points once you reach just 1,000 points. Please head here to read all about it.

Does anyone know if you can use happy cash to pay but still earn rewards on items you are buying in the same transaction? If I understand right, you get messed up if you use balance rewards to pay when you are earning rewards in the same transaction. I need help so I don’t mess up next visit. Man Walgreens can make it hard to shop!
This is my thought:
-points can be redeemed and RR will still print.
-RR can be redeemed and points are still earned.
-Can’t redeem points and earn point
-Can’t redeem RR and get RR for the same item.
* not 100% sure but my understanding happy cash will be redeemed as a man. Coupon so have “one filler” you should still earn points as long as you dont redeem points.
Don’t know for sure about ‘happy cash’, but I used ‘balance rewards’ and did not get any credit for items I bought that transaction that should have gotten balance rewards-even though the cashier said she should see no reason why I wouldn’t when I asked her about it before I did the trans action. Lesson learned.
If I’m using points/rewards to lower my total, I do that in one transaction-then do a second transaction so that I get my reward points.
That cashier just isn’t familiar with the balance rewards rules then. They clearly state that you can’t earn any points in a transaction that you use your points to pay.
If you are using Balance Rewards to make a purchase, do not buy anything that will generate more balance rewards. You will not earn any new rewards in a transaction that you are redeeming balance reward points.

Yeah, I saw them. The folgers coupon is on there so no need to print, but whenever my card uses the coupons I clipped the cashier always calls their manager because they don’t yet understand how that is possible. Use at your own risk of holding up the line!
On the register, it is near the TOP of he digital receipt/items. It will say something like “DIGITAL VALUE APPLIED”. I don’t remember the exact verbage, but it is one line, surrounded by asterisks, and it is VERY hard to miss. Took me, two cashiers, and a manager 30 minutes to figure out. Worked like a charm, we just didn’t HOW it was applying it.
Heads up…I have a $3/1 excedrin Catalina I got from Walgreens a couple weeks ago, that will go great with the sale. Check your binders!

I had a bad experience at Walgreens today. They wouldn’t accept the $5/2 Almay cosmetic coupon because the BOGO % off value was below $5. I explained that the coupon would have to be adjusted down, but still no luck. Also the single caress bar soap did not issue a $1.50 register reward. Bummer

I had a problem with that coupon as well. I had the cashier get the manager and they entered and voided it 4 times. I remembered that I needed a filler and bought a Hershey bar for the young man behind me. He was so patient. Neither the cashier or the manager remembered the filler either. it worked like a champ after adding the Hershey bar.
I used the $5/2 almay coupon on 2 Almay Color + Care™ Liquid Lip Balm (B1 G150% off) and also $2 off Walgreens coupon to get $9 off. Bought a 69cent Wet /Wild nailpolish and then cooupon went through. Having a charming Walgreen’s beauty advisor as cashier helped.
There is a $3 stackable q in March Coupon booklet which makes Huggies as low as $2.99 if Snugglers are included! Don’t have booklet right in front of me, but I hope it hasn’t expired! There is also a $2.50 printable on huggies.com(if you share it) for snug and dry and can be printed twice.
Update $2.50 q is for Huggies Little Movers and Wags coupon does not include Snugglers and has to be 52 to 74 pk.

note that walgreens (non-mfg) coupons will reduce the price of the product on the receipt, so it will also reduce the amount of the rebate.
Erin, You provide your manufacturer coupon at the register, then your balance rewards number for the paperless coupons.
Paperless are similar to the manufacturer coupons. If you have a manufacturer coupon the same as a paperless, they cannot be doubled, but the in-store and paperless/manufacturer can be used together. Can also use the in store coupon booklet. I used the ‘chat’ feature @ Wags to get this info, but your mileage may vary.
So paperless/digital coupon offers cannot be used with paper coupons, correct?
My understanding is that you ‘can’ use a paper coupon along with the paperless coupon, as well as with a coupon from the monthly coupon book from the store. Hope that sounds a little plainer. 🙂 Haven’t been there myself, but looking forward to trying it.

I am officially done with Walgreens as far as rewards/happy cash/ points etc. Other than using coupons for sale items or in ad coupons I am done. CVS is so much easier and less hassle. Don’t have to worry about if I use this am I going to get that. It is not worth an extra $1 or $2 savings to end up not getting all the “perks” I should get and making sure I have enough items. Plus not to mention the frustration. Thank you for letting me vent! Feel better now!

Does anyone know how the Happy Cash works? I spent $50 last week and got the $10 Happy Cash, and it says off of my next purchase of $30 or more. Is that before coupons my total has to be above $30?? I asked the employee there and she said it’s after coupons, but I use to coupon a few years ago and it was before coupons.
If I understand correctly they deduct Walgreens in store coupons first(so your total must be $30 or more) and then happy cash is deducted and then manuf. coupons come off last. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
That’s correct marie! You have to deduct all Walgreens coupons from your total first, if it’s less than $30, the $10 Happy Cash won’t work. So $30 after Walgreens coupon, then give Happy Cash then manuf coupon/s.
I think you are right Marie you total must be at least $30 after all in-store discounts and coupons and before tax. Then the $ happy cash comes off and you can use manufacturer coupons to lower your total further.

Has anyone done the coca-cola deal yet? The ad says 3 for $11 and in small print or $4.99 each. If you buy 4, will it ring up as $11 for 3 plus $4.99 for the 4th? or will the 4th be priced down? Hope this makes sense!
Usually at Walgreens, you have to buy the minimum amount to get the sale price, so you would have to buy 3 to get the 3/$11 price. Anything after that will ring at the sale price, so the fourth, fifth, etc ones would ring at $3.67 automatically. HTH! 🙂

Used my happ cash today… had 2 tickets for 10 off 30 and one for 5 off 30. I used the razor coupons from the 3/23 paper for schick, combined with the sale BOGO 50%, bonus 5000 points on each 20 spent, added in 2 wet n wild clear on sale .69 cent, 2 packaging tape .99 and 3 reeses .59, and 9 glad warmers with 9 coupons (they reset on the glad website) and with my purchase of 10 razor/ disposable razor and 4 cartridge packs I only paid 20 dollars after everything!!! Wow!! It added up to be around .70 cents a peice (would have been less but I messed up my first transaction and didnt get my 5000 points) had to share! Happy shopping everyone 😃😃
