Do you want to inspire others to be kind at home, at work, and in every interaction throughout the day by practicing intentional acts of kindness or gratitude?! GiftofKindness.com provides tools that encourage kindness as a way of life rather than just the occasional random act. In addition to free downloadable kindness posters, inspirational newsletters, and more, GiftofKindness.com provides FREE kindness cards & FREE Thank You cards to share within your school, workplace, and community.

If you are interested in receiving a few kindness cards at no charge by mail, go here, scroll down, and click on the appropriate link (you can also print them from home). Keep in mind that the purpose of the card is not to elicit a reward or response but rather to be used when the recipient can appreciate the act. The card draws emphasis to the actual Gift of Kindness provided and hopefully prompts the recipient to “pass it on” by way of providing a kind act to another. Here’s an example taken directly from GiftofKindness.com

[h2s_box]You pull into a drive-thru and pay for your order. Instead of just taking your food and pulling off, give the Gift of Kindness and pay for the person behind. Sure it may cost you $5 but the simple act will have a profound impact on that person and in your own life. It’s easy, you tell the cashier you want to pay for that person behind you too. You then hand the cashier a KINDNESS CARD and ask that they give the card to the person when they pull through to pay. This lets the recipient know and become aware of the initiative as the card explains it. Later in the day or week, this person will look at the card and it will remind them that they were the recipient of a the Gift of Kindness. The card serves as a reminder and a vehicle to be contagious and spread positive energy.[/h2s_box]

Have you witnessed any random acts of kindness recently? If so, please share!

(Thanks, Linda!)

I do this, sans card, every since it happened to me…but never once has it only been 5 dollars, usually closer to 20…so be careful and prepared;)

LOL! Me to, the car behind me always has a big bill.

It’s called the drive through difference if you google it. I always ask how much the person’s order is behind me so I can still do it within our budget. It ends up blessing everyone….yourself included. The cashiers are usually SO surprised. I just ask them to tell the person to have a really great day.

I also see a lot of this at Aldis for those of us who shop there. I often see people passing their cart along to someone else opposed to removing their quarter. Simple, but same good intentions. 🙂

I have seen this at Aldi as well! I once witnessed a person didn’t have enough cash and didn’t know they couldn’t use a credit card almost walk out til the couple behind her paid her order in full!
I always look for someone to give my cart to also!

How funny, I always give my cart away at Aldi, too. Plus, I check to see if the person behind me only has a few items so I can let them go I front of me. I also gave a woman walking home a ride. There’s something about Aldi…

I am passing these out at work tomorrow, I work with some real grouches, hope this helps, can’t hurt anyway.

I once paid for the person behind me at a tollbooth. I thought I was being so kind. I actually ran into the person later that day at the county fair. Little did I know that the toll collector had kept my money and charged the person behind me for the toll! The toll collector probably never guessed that I would run into the person who had been behind me!

      Woah!! That is insane!

Three or four years ago, the day before Thanksgiving, my sister and I go to the Starbucks in our Target for coffee. I’m talking about how I’ll stare at the menu for five minutes but end up getting the same exact thing I always get, when the woman in front of me turned around, laughed, and agreed. She bought a drink and a snack, and left the change from her 20 dollar bill on the counter for us! I was so shocked! She had tears in her eyes as she was telling us that our drinks were on her! A pretty young couple came behind us and I gave my own ten dollar bill to them, but they didn’t seem too interested in keeping the chain going, but that was the least I could do for her unexpected gesture! I’ll never forget it… but I’ll keep in mind about the tolls!! So crazy!

That is too bad that there are people like that out there… If she treats people like that, it might come back to “bite” her… Finding that out, you could call the office of the city of the toll bridge and report the toll collector… They might be stealing other people’s money – and not just yours… Administration would be interested in hearing that…

On Christmas a few years ago. My son’s girl friend cooked a turkey. I cooked the ham to take over their house. On the way over we came across a few homeless people and gave the ham to them. We also randomly pay for the person ahead or behind us in stores.
