we have the Melissa and doug set and it is fantastic! My 2 kids have been playing with the set for 2 years now and even with them chewing on the pieces they have held up really well. That’s a great price! I wish other sets were on sale

I second the rave review on the Melissa and Doug set — ours has been used a ton over the last 3 years and is still in great shape. My daughter just used the orange juice and yogurt ones the other night when she served me dinner in bed before her bedtime;)
I LOVE melissa and Doug products! We have the pizza, the cupcake set, and the Ice Cream set at home, along with the Kitchen…. I called and asked for free shipping since I didn’t wanna have to spend $35, and the gave it to me=)
Are there any other suggestions out there for play food?
We just got our son a Kidkraft kitchen with a few different wooden food sets for his 3rd birthday, and the Melissa & Doug cutting food set is awesome! It has a cutting board, knife, bread, and different fruits and vegetables that velcro together in slices so the kids can “cut” them in slices with the wooden knife. When you cut them, it actually feels and sounds like you’re cutting them for real. Then you just Velcro them back together and cut them all over again. Amazon has a great price on this set right now too! Highly recommended.

The pizza set or ice cream set is awesome… I personally don’t like the Cheepo “plastic food” that seems to easily get broken, or loose it’s shape from kids pretending to eat it. Same thing happens with the little cardboard boxes of pretend food, it’s get ripped smashed or ruined to easily.
