interesting….. the brown-eyed version costs less than the blue-eyed version. This sorta bugs me on so many levels.

Maybe there is a greater inventory for the brown eyed version.

It’s all about online inventory- they all cost the same in stores. I got a black one for almost free last year. This multiracial family (5 races and counting!) couldn’t give a crap how much one costs, it’s not like they’re saying ones worth more than another.

the brown eyed one is back up to $25.95 🙁

Good deal, but I find the Elf super creepy looking! I found (IMO) a cuter alternative, Christopher Pop-in-Kins that I’m considering. I read one review saying Elf on The Shelf is a rip-off of Christopher Pop-in-Kins. Still on the fence about whether I like the whole concept of this though!

We don’t do the whole good boy/girl thing, the kids really just like playing with the elves and putting them around the house doing funny things to surprise the other siblings. Best part- they have to secretly ask momma/daddy if they can do whatever shennagain and they have to clean it up 🙂

Great idea! I like your idea of just making it fun and entertaining for the kids rather than the whole good boy/girl thing where the elf acts a “snitch” to Santa. That just doesn’t sit right with me, especially since I’m trying to reinforce positive behavior year round rather than as a way to get gifts. Awesome to see others use it in other ways! Thanks 🙂

Christopher pop in has been around since 1984 where the elf on the shelf came to be in 2005 as to if it was ripped off i do not know but i know they are similar ive heard nothing but good things about Christopher and his sister Christina i personally have the elf but am really considering getting Christopher and fallowing that instead what i know about him is this he visits because he loves children so santa lets him come to spread holiday cheer vs coming to see if they are good or bad and i was told he reports to santa how much fun hes had with the family vs again naughty or nice. Ive also heard that he is more posable than the elf which i have and can say he is very hard to pose. And lastly i know that they both go back on Christmas eve but christina actually stays till jan. 5th to help with Christmas clean up .i have the elf and hes cute a good addition to the holidays a great tradition but i think if i had known more about christopher i would of purchased him i hope this helps you make a more informed choice best of luck you cant go wrong with either one😊
