As most of you know, 9/16/12, was the start of the new Walgreens Balance Rewards Program! Even sweeter, on 5/5/13, they started a new point system in which you can redeem your points once you reach just 1,000 points. Please head here to read all about it.
And, as of 3/28/13, you can earn 20 points for every mile you walk. Earn up to 1,000 Balance Rewards Points per month. Simply keep track of your steps here and link your Balance Rewards number to your account. Even sweeter, you may be able to snag some additional exclusive coupons!

Went this afternoon to get in on the $10 RR for the Sunsweet Suprafiber before it ends today and I noticed Snapple Straight up tea 16 ounce bottles for .99. So I used the BOGO coupon from earlier in the week. Thought I would post since I thought that was a great deal/price.
Does anyone else really dislike coupoining at Walgreens? It seems each time they go they make it more and more difficult to coupon. I’ve been to 3 locations now where they look upset because you have coupons and then they stand there and read the whole coupon for each item rather than just scanning and applying

I think Walgreens is super confusing to shop at with the RR and BR programs. The cashiers at my Walgreens are not coupon friendly. I only go there now when there are some hot deals on diapers or detergent. Speaking of diapers I really hope the he well beginning diapers will go BOGO soon. I’m running low.
I agree, Walgreens is my least favourite store to coupon in. Out of the two near me, there is one friendly cashier ( in cosmetics ) so I try to only shop there when I think she’ll be working. Which now reading back sounds weird and a little stalker ish 🙂 But really, getting glared at by all of the other cashiers is no fun. Oh, and just to clarify, I’m not a shelf clearer or anything, I usually only get one, two max, of each item 🙂
I love the Walgreens in my town in Michigan. The store manager has even helped me rearrange my coupon deals to save more like $6.00 more. With RR and BR mixing and planning my trans differently.

This week I intended to purchase the Vitamin water energy drink for $1 ( that generates $1 RR). The item was in the sales paper, but the staff hadn’t yet gotten all the weekly sales items tagged. Without even scanning the drink, the cashier said, “let me check the price of this.” She went to the drink cooler, came back and rang up the drink at $2.19. When I tried to point out the sales ad price, she insisted that the $1 was the RR offer but not the sales price. Rather than argue, I simply told her that I didn’t want it. She made a big production of voiding the transaction, while the customers now waiting in line behind me glared.. it’s something like this every other time I go to Walgreens.. and if you call Customer Service, they basically tell you that it’s up to the store manager whether they want to honor Corporate’s store policies and sales. I don’t even bother calling anymore. It’s so obvious corporate doesn’t care about their customers..
finally…. i had all your problems in my walgreens and wrost, when the RR machine is not working they say is because i use coupons, and i can’t get more money back. They give me any excuse just not to work to much or help you at all.
My Walgreens takes DAYS to tag everything. Like Wednesday, they *might have all the sales tags up. If your lucky, or if the cashiers run out of things to talk about with each other.
Mine is the same way with tagging items. I need to have an ad with me just to double check items. Frustrating.

Michelle, I think it varies from store to store. Some cashiers are nicer than others. Some managers nicer than others. You have to avoid cashiers who give you a hard time. Maybe you could complain to corporate. Or maybe their Facebook page?

I know it’s quite awhile to wait but I always save my points to use during their Black Friday weekend sale. Last year I had accumulated over 80k so I was able to do 2 transactions (went to 2 stores). They always have tons of freebies after RR’s so it’s easy to buy 1 of each and use your points to pay. I just make sure to have a plan of how to use the $50+ worth of Register Rewards I earn! Occasionally throughout the year you can find an exceptional week of sales with lots of RR deals that you could use them with, but I just find it easier to save them all up.
I save mine til a big sale on Walgreens generic OTC items. I had $100 in balance rewards, paired with an OTC sale, and got a $140 in OTC meds for my $100 BR points – got all my OTC meds needed for a year (!!!)- generic Tylenol, Benadryl, Imodium, etc. Meds can be so expensive and generics never have coupons. Also used $50 once to get Christmas cards.
I save mine up for their fabulous BOGO free on well beginnings diapers deals they do every so often, or save them Black Friday.
My mom and my sister both love Curve Crush perfume. Last year they put the $60 gift set on half price sale right before Christmas. I ordered online and used points. It was super easy and low out of pocket.

I used my points all on 1 day. Our stores (3) activated the black Friday week deals early.
I bought LED Christmas lights, a lot of which I made into Christmas gifts. We have a local company here that makes Crab Pot Christmas trees which are very expensive. So I reproduced them with the LED lights. Mine were prettier then the store ones.

Did Wags change their coupon policy recently where they will not adjust a coupon down – for instance; if the item costs $1.99 but your coupon is $2, they said their new coupon policy does not allow them to adjust the coupon down a penny like they used to. I think they are going to loose a lot of business if this is the case. I love Wags, but this will change my shopping if they do. Anyone know?
Yes, it’s a very recent change to their official coupon policy. I think it stinks but many stores have that policy so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Can someone tell me how to use the steps points to actually buy something? I have $10 worth and have been to Wags twice and they didn’t subtract them. Plus, they’re always swamped with only one fairly grumpy cashier taking care of everyone. So I don’t feel like I’m able to ask without upsetting a lot of people. Thanks!
If they don’t ask, you have to tell the cashier you want to apply points. They’ll tell you how many you can redeem, then you have to enter your zip code on the pen pad to verify you’re using X points for them to apply. AFA the grumpy cashier, it’s her job to service you. Don’t feel intimidated.
For your other question about the Steps points. Those are from logging your walks? Those aren’t any different than the ones earned from the weekly ad, they spend just the same. Just remember that you cannot earn more BR (Balance Reward) points in a transaction where BR points are redeemed.

OK! The starbucks iced coffee is included in the sale but the walgreens $1.00 coupon for starbucks is also for the fraps so you can get them for $2.99. The sour cream and onion lays did not ring up 2/$6. Was $4.19 bogo.

Walgreens policy sucks really I mean evrything is getting difficult first there changing small print on coupons limits 2 coupons or can’t be combined with another coupon. And then Walgreens tops it off with no coupons if exceeds they act like they don’t get reimbursed! On that note Walgreens always complicated with everything! I will not be shopping there much often will recommend the same I’m going to cvs!! It is. I hate their couponing policy and they’re trying to say CVS is changing over to be like them, but with all the complaints is doubtful. Its always stressful when I go in. Last time they tried to tell me I could only use their store could once per transaction even if the coupon didn’t say so. They refused to give me what was owed. The Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin and Nails gummy vitamins hasn’t been included in the B1G1 sale for a couple weeks now. I just bought a bottle of them last week.
Tried to buy the chewing gum on sale today. They have the flyer at the store saying it is 69 cent and it shows a photo. There are no price tags on the shelf though. When I go to pay for the gum they tell me that it is not on sale. This sort of thing frequently happens at my store. Corporate tell me it’s up to the store what they have on sale.
I feel cheated that I go to the store and maybe they have the offer they are advertising, maybe there is no offer this time. Surely this is wrong?
I’ve tried shopping at Walgreens TWICE today, once around 8am and just now (2:25pm) and both times they are unable to redeem my points because their system is supposedly down. Maybe I’ll have better luck tomorrow. I wanted to get the peanut butter and beef jerky that’s on sale…
They were having issues all morning on Sunday. I went in the afternoon and everything went smoothly(for once).
