    JOSH FROM SAVING STAR
(Hello, Josh, this clarification from last week’s 3-day offer didn’t get followed up on over the weekend. I’m posting it here so the information will reach you):
Rather than saying that my “local store” does not carry the Comet, I was trying to explain that (despite being located in the populated area capital-city area), neither the drug storeS nor the grocery storeS here offer the product in the stipulated size (ZERO of the FIVE stores that Saving Star partners with carry the 14 oz. size container- making it a wild goose chase to look for it.
Knowing that there is no way to fulfill the offer with an item not available, it does not seem fair that Savings Star would not count the one that the stores actually carry and which sells for a minimal equivalent amount.
    Thank you.

B – We appreciate your comments and I shared them with the team here at SavingStar. Our goal is to have everyone be able to redeem all of our offers. Sometimes products have a limited distribution, but we do try to offer products and sizes that are widely available. I hope you’ll be able to redeem the other offers we currently have available. Thanks, Josh

        Hi, Josh,
Well last week, after finding that the 14 oz. was the only actual size carried in any of all the stores (i.e. the 5 different retailer partners), I went ahead and bought it, to make sure to fulfill purchasing during the 3-day window ending over the weekend. Does this mean that it won’t be credited, so I need to take it back to the store? (Since I’ve already got a container of Ajax under the sink and this product wasn’t even on sale, the only reason I looked for it and stopped in to pick it up was a dedicated trip to take advantage of the SavingStar offer.)
Thanks for getting back to us to address our concerns.

B – I am assuming you meant to write that you bought a 21 oz instead of a 14 oz. Unfortunately, this will not be credited since the offer specified 14 oz. Our system works automatically based on matching the UPC that you buy with the UPC from the offer. The only items credited as part of SavingStar offers are products or sizes specified in the offer text. Thanks, Josh

          • B

(Oops, yes, sorry, it was the slightly larger size being sold for the same price the standard-size can usually costs.)
Since the only cans also happened to be a 20%-more bonus size, what happens in this case with your UPC-matching system? (I am almost sure based on other products that the UPCs will differ from the regular size.)

            • savingstar

There is a 21 oz with a 20% bonus to take it to 25.2 oz, but our offer was for a 14 oz can.

            • B

Yes, Josh, what I mean is I was wondering for future offer whether SavingsStar would always be aware of the bonus sizes substituted on the shelves (thus also have the corresponding UPC in the database), so would buying a bonus size on the offered size still be counted as qualifying for the offer(?)

            • savingstar

B – We work with brands to add all of the participating UPCs to our database.

            • B

…so when the bonus size is based on the SavingStar-specified size, it would be considered to be the same/counts as redeemed and will be credited(?)

              • savingstar

If there is a bonus size available we would make it clear what is included in the offer.

    • Amy Mac

A lot of people had the same problem – me too.

  5. Laura

It’s cleanser. Not the end of the world. I have 2 stores that participate with saving star. Not 5. If the deal of the week it’s carried or out of stock, it’s not a huge deal.

  6. Paige

Thanks goodness for Morton salt, I just ran out the other night :)))

  7. Christina

I’m new to this so sorry if this is a stupid question….Is there an upper limit upto which they reimburse or is it whatever price you pay as long as it’s at a participating store?

    • savingstar

Hi Christina, Welcome to SavingStar! For the freebies, we reimburse for whatever you paid at the store. Thanks, Josh

  8. Mel

I have a question … if I bought something at one of the participating stores, but I didn’t activate it before the purchase, will I be credited? I assume not, but I wanted to check. It’s not in the FAQ on the savingstar site. Thanks!

    • savingstar

Hi Mel, If you activate the offer on the same day you purchase the product, it will be credited. Thanks, Josh

Love savingstar!! Can’t wait to see how they include target!

  10. Denise

Saving Star totally rocks! I was just going to write about not getting my cucumber healthy offer savings from over a week ago and I just get an email that Albertsons systems were down. They totally read my mind!
