Do you think Staples will have their 1 cent sales again this summer? I heard a rumor that they might not but maybe it’s just a little early…

    • Becky

I was wondering the same thig. It doesn’t look like they will. I think they usuall start them right away.

    • LWhat

An employee told me no penny deals this year. All the prices are going to stay the same all BTS Season

      • Lori

That’s sad but at least I know to not hold my breath. 🙂 I’ll go ahead and get the next best deals.

        • Sam

Just a heads up(i know its a little past you asking this) staples currently has their penny sale going on in case you haven’t seen it.

          • Lori

Not finding any penny sales at Staples here in MO. 🙁

  2. Blyane

Do they accept manufactures coupons? Could we use the crayons coupon for the washable markers?

    • Heather C

Absolutely- if it’s for the correct product.

    • Blyane

Oops auto corrected me…Crayola coupon not crayon coupon! And thanks great to know!

      • A

Can you price match this at Target? TIA

    • Rebecca

These markers are only $1.98 or $1.99 at both Walmart and Target. You wont even need to price match. 🙂

  3. Carol_R

    Thanks for the match-ups Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      YW! 🙂

  4. Jessica

this is what happened when I ordered the deals you showed from Staples.com, this is the second time they didn’t honor their offers, at least to me. I won’t be shopping there again.Valued Staples Customer,

We are contacting you regarding order number XXXXXXXX We regret to inform you that all of the items on your order are not currently in stock. The items were available while supplies last and we are not offering substitutes or backorders. We value every order we receive and we apologize with the utmost sincerity for any inconvenience this may cause. We have not billed you for these items.

If you have further questions regarding your order, please contact us at support@orders.staples.com or 800-333-3330. Please reference your order # and we will be happy to assist you.

    Sincerely,

    Staples Customer Service

    • Sarah

      Same happened to me

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Sorry that so many orders are getting canceled. 🙁

      • Lisa

I implore you (and everyone else), that if you’re that upset (and I personally think you have every right to be) to email that customer support address, and tell them that. You can write a 3-paragraph rant, or simply reference the order number and say “you just lost a customer” – but let them know! It’s bait and switch, and companies will continue to do it until it starts to hurt their bottom line.

        • Beth

Excellent idea, Lisa. They canceled my order the other day on the Sharpies. Only ordered one of the fine point and the ultra fine point- wasn’t like I was trying to hoard a ton. I only wanted one package of each. Super-annoying.

          • J

Same here Beth! I was very disappointed that the order was cancelled. It would have been nice if the products would have shown that they were out of stock instead of allowing people to order.

        • Susanne M

          Lisa,
I agree with you that it would be a good idea for folks to voice their frustration over cancelled orders as that can be very maddening and it our age of instant inventories and technology it would seem as though over-selling should never happen!
However you are incorrect when you reference “bait and switch” . This in no way is a bait and switch scenario. Bait and Switch is just that—the business offers a given product at an amazing price (BAIT)…often to lure you into an actual brick and mortar store but it can happen online as well…..and then it is magically out of stock and they offer you a different product, available immediately , at a HIGHER price (SWITCH).
If you read message that Jessica posted that is NOT what is happening with Staples. They cancelled an order that cannot be filled, no one was charged and no other product was offered (the Switch part of a a B and S), end of this orders story.
Again, I am not saying Staples should not be contacted re: customer frustration but let’s not accuse them of something they are clearly not doing. 🙂

        • Sassy

I sent an email. It is ridiculous that the website doesn’t reflect how many items are in stock. If a customer is able to complete and order in which they provide personal information and payment information, it should be honored. IMO. ; )

    • Kelly

I got the same email-went into the store(i’d chosen store pick-up) and they had SEVERAL of both items on the shelf! I’m sending them an email. This is NOT good customer service!

    • Carol_R

Sorry that happened to you. I ordered 24 of the single notebooks and they all arrived. I paid $4.30 including tax for 24 of them.

    • sun flower

me too and they said it was a price error so stores were informed not to honor it also. I think I’m all set with staples

  5. Rochelle

Can someone remind me…if I use my Staples rewards to purchase an item, I will NOT get back the mail-in rebate. Correct?

    • Heather C

no- you CAN use your rewards for rebates, and you will still receive them. The rewards act like cash.

  6. mary

I went to store and did price match for Sharpie 10 CT used coupon 30% yesterday and didn’t need to show the the website price they did it as I told them.

  7. Lisa

Can you order these deals online?

    • Karen

      Thank you

  8. Ashley Grace Wright

Was at my Staples last week and asked about there BTS discount card they offered last year. It was like $10 and gave me an extra 20% off all the sale of BTS items. I saved a ton. So I asked when they would be selling it and the manager told me they are not offering it this year since they are just going to have lower all around prices on BTS items. In my opinion there prices have not been very low yet.

    • LWhat

They also aren’t doing penny items this year. Not a good idea on their part.

  9. Cat

Big lots also has notebooks for 17 cents. Today and tomorrow, reward members get 20% off, which makes them about 14 cents.

  10. Nicole

Will staples price match 110% on store brands?
iE: Office Max glue sticks .25$ glue stuck packs
    Substitute staples brand glue sticks

  11. kim

used the Crayola Washable Marker coupon with the great $2.00 deal!! YaY 🙂

  12. Bonnie

I went to Staples today and was able to buy the spiral notebooks for 17 cents each! They had plenty in stock and you were able to buy up to 30 notebooks. Happy to pick this up for my classroom:)

    • Anne

I am so glad you were able to purchase all the notebooks you needed. I was not as lucky. I am a kindergarten teacher in a low income school (90% on free or reduced lunch) and my parents cannot afford to purchase the notebooks we need. Since I have 50+ kindergarten students (our program is all day every other day, so I have two separate classes) I need a minimum of 6 spiral notebooks for each student for the year, which is approximately 300 notebooks. My understanding was that it was a limit of 30; however, that it was 30 per day per person (and my closest Staples is 30 minutes from my home). My best friend is also a teacher, so we have been going to Staples with her children to pick up the notebooks we both need this week (and have not made it there every day). Last evening, her children (ages 15 and 10) were not permitted to purchase the notebooks because they were not adults. This evening when we went we were refused service and were told that we “already had our share of notebooks” even though there were at least 100 unopened cases of notebooks sitting there. The manager would not speak to us – instead, he sent one of the employees to tell us, and I did ask to speak to him and he was “unavailable”. I was unaware that a store could refuse to sell an item they clearly have on their shelves. I am a teacher’s rewards member, and have spent over $250 in their store this year alone (so obviously I am not just buying “the deals”). Needless to say, once I receive my rewards next month from my ink recycling and purchases, I will no longer be a Staples customer. I am not trying to scam the system – I am just trying to follow the rules (and there is no indication in their advertisement for the week that there is even a limit). I did speak to customer relations in corporate today, and was informed that although there is not a corporate policy, it is at the manager’s discretion to limit purchases (I had called because my friend’s children were not permitted to purchase notebooks last evening). I have never had this problem with Office Max, and will do the remainder of my back to school shopping there.
