I am sorry to say but this paper shredder is absolutely worthless! Do not waste your money on it. It literally started smoking the first day!!!
Thank you for providing this helpful review. I was going to purchase until I read your comment.
You can shred 3 pages at a time. Someone at the office put in too many, instantly broke the thing. Worthless.

Just say no to this one. I bit on the last offer, not too long ago. Used it maybe four times. Never put 10 sheets into it at the same time. Never overheated it. Kept it clean and oiled. It’s already a piece of junk. Runs backwards but not forwards. I’ll be reviewing it for Staples, too. File under “this is when is a bargain not a bargain.”
Gosh, same experience here. Didn’t work for very long. No help from Staples.
I haven’t had any issue…
Mine works fine too!
Yeah I got this a couple months ago and it got stuck and broke within 5 minutes. I didn’t want to send it back so I opened it up to try to fix it but the gears were made out of cheap plastic and worn down it looked Iike a straight circle. Needless to say there was no replacing the gears, I tossed it.
I bought this a couple months ago as well but I haven’t had an issue with mine. Both my husband and I have used it in numerous times, even letting the kids help. I guess its more of a purchase at your own risk.
I agree, mine has been fine too and I’ve had it several months.
I purchased my last shredder from costco. Crosscut 12 sheet, about 1 year ago. Works great, paid about 49.99, but, Costco has awesome return policy. So I know if anything goes wrong, or I just don’t like it, they will refund my money, with or without receipt, as they store all of your purchases linked to your membership. ( This shredder was on sale, it was originally $79.99 or $99.99, I forget)Costco sells quality items.
Oh geez – good to know… I bought it last round and just gave it to my mom for her birthday :/
Thanks for sharing. I was just about to buy it.
I had 2 of this, exact brand, also from staples. It’s not bad, but it’s capacity is really just $20. I broke the first one – it died on me. The other one is still working, but I am careful not to shred more than 5 paper at a time. I don’t know why Staples lists this for a higher price when this brand and exact model is almost always $20 at Staples, anyway.
i got one last time and it works perfect
I bought one and was able to use the 15% off technology coupon from their website. Paid $16.99 before tax. So far it is working fine. If it dies within 30 days I figure I can return it.
We’ve had ours for a year & it works great!!
No problems. And I love the cross shredding, it comes out tiny (like confetti).
Same thing happened to me. I bought it the last time is was this cheap and we literally used it for one day before it broke! Definitely buy at own risk!
I purchased the Omnitech 10-sheet shredder as well. Never used it constantly, but every now and then I would shred a sheet of paper here and there. Now yesterday for the first time I shredded about 4 sheets of paper each time in about a 5-minutes spam, machine cut off and never cut back on. Seriously, is this what $60.00 gets you.
