Calling all you Walmart shoppers! As previously mentioned here, Walmart launched a new program for select markets called Walmart Savings Catcher that ensures you’re paying the lowest in-store prices possible at your local Walmart. The exciting news, is that this program is now available Nationwide!

Here’s how it works:

* After making your in-store purchases at Walmart, go here and enter your receipt number (TC #) & date found at the bottom of your receipt in the boxes on the right-hand side. Next, click “Go” to log into your account using your Walmart.com information.

* Walmart Savings Catcher will then compare the amount you paid for each eligible item on your receipt with advertised prices at other stores in your area (including most grocery items, health & beauty products, & more!).

* If ANY item was advertised at a lower price at a competitor’s store in your area, they’ll match that price and give you the difference in a Walmart eGift Card! Awesome!

Savings Catcher does not compare the following types of offers:

* Items that require a separate purchase to get the advertised price (Example: “Buy oatmeal to get cereal for $1.”)
* Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get a free product (Example: “Buy both oatmeal & cereal to get milk for free.”)
* Items that require a purchase to get a gift card (Example: “Buy a 12 pack of paper towels to get a $5 gift card.”)
* Buy one get one free (BOGO) where there is no actual item price listed (Example: Peter Pan Peanut Butter, buy one, get one free. Save up to $2.50”)
* Going out of business or closeout prices
* Prices inclusive of rebates
* Percentage off (Example: “All mascara, 40% off”)
* General merchandise items, (including, but not limited to, electronics, media and gaming, toys, sporting goods, housewares, small appliances, home décor, bedding, books and magazines, apparel and shoes, jewelry, furniture, office supplies and seasonal products).
* Non-branded items.
* Tobacco, firearms, gasoline, tires, prescription drugs, optical and photo products and services, or products that require a service agreement such as wireless, automotive or financial products.

Be sure to go here for more details or go here to see a list of FAQ’s on this new Savings Catcher program.

    Fascinating.

    • Mel M.

      lol

  2. Anne Klein

They now offer e-receipts. I signed up yesterday for this.

    • Renee

Glad to hear about e-receipts. I hope Target will jump on the bandwagon soon!

  3. Maryann

Been using this program for a while now. Have gotten back about $18

  4. Maria

It looks like you can input older receipts. My husband never remembers to price match. This is awesome! I input a receipt from 7/22 and it looked like I could have gone back to 7/21.

  5. Anne Klein

Just entered a receipt from yesterday. Waiting on a response.

  6. Guest1

Is this for online shopping as well as in strore?

  7. Brenda

Is Walmart still going to price match or does this get rid of that?

    • MariaA

I think you can still price match, but the ones that you didn’t, just input them into your account.

    • Darcy

There are rumors that this will be the new ad matching EVENTUALLY.

  8. ish

    Cool

  9. MariaA

Just make sure you choose which receipts you init coz you only get 7 receipts per week.

  10. julie

Love this program have saved ᤾$35

  11. Tia

I really wish they would also focus on their customer service. The stores in my area are not the best.

    • Sabrina

Me too. I think they have a lot of problems with this everywhere.

      • CW

        Agreed!

    • RickP

I work at Walmart, and I get treated like a criminal in my own store when I price match and coupon.

    • Alison

Agreed! I would like to see better customer service AND for them to treat their employees better. They may eventually win me over if they paid their employees a more fair wage.

  12. b

Everyone should know that they don’t match produce. I had a whole receipt full of produce and purposely didn’t take the time in store to price match. They didn’t “catch” any of it. I don’t want anyone else to lose money.

    • Susie

I live in Georgia and we’ve had this for a while now. I’ve noticed several grocery items that it didn’t “catch” too.

    • Gina M

Thank you for sharing this. I was wondering about produce.

    • Renee

I have gotten savings back for bananas and blueberries.

      • b

I’m surprised, I even wrote them about missing several items and they just said they didn’t do produce.

  13. Sabrina

So does “general merchandise” exclude school supplies as well? I guess it’s considered office or seasonal?

    • Caroline Bush

I was wondering about the ” general merchandise”. This seems to be a very loose description. It includes a lot.

      • joannemart

I was thinking the same thing, if they don’t include general merchandise, what else is there but groceries? I don’t have a WalMart grocery store anywhere near me. My WalMart sells limited grocery items only. It seems to me that the general merchandise they are excluding is what would make it worth signing up. I mean,if it’s mainly groceries and your store has only a limited grocery section like mine, I’d probably only save change here n there. Also, do you have to go back to the store to get the WalMart GC that you would be receiving for your savings or do they mail it to you?

  14. Corinna

So, essentially it’s just for grocery items? Am I reading that correctly?

    • Kelly

It seems that way. I think they excluded pretty much anything else.

  15. Allie

It would be great if someone would share examples of specific matches. With all the exclusions (especially most BOGOs), I am not sure I would save enough to make it worth the hassle. In FL, the price matches for BOGOs are excellent IF they have the products in stock. I have not had great success with that, so I stick mostly with a combination of Publix, Aldi, and Target.

    • RickP

I know what you mean. Gotta be up at the crack of dawn on thursday to get them bogos. I think I might start going at midnight on wednesday night.

Note to others: walmart only price matches bogos without a specific price listed (like explained above) if you are in an area near Publix.

  16. kelly

just downloaded the walmart app on my iPhone, but can’t seem to figure out how to get to the savings catcher portion to scan my receipt – can anyone help with that? (i can get there just fine through safari, just not the walmart app)!

  17. Julie

IThe cashiers will tell you that you don’t have to price match anymore (had 4 of them do this) but I have found that you do still need to price match. I purposely tested this and it did not “catch” most of the items. 🙁 Luckily I did a small test.

To scan a receipt with the app on an iphone, open the app and at the bottom it says more. tap it and go to ereceipts. There should be an icon to scan your barcode on your receipt. It may ask you to log in first but should read the bar code and then you just select the date. Simple! 🙂

Does anyone know what day their week starts?

    • Catie

If you scan it with your iphone, do you still need to go to the online site to make sure you get any difference back?

    • kelly

thank you – that makes perfect sense 🙂

  18. Heather

I love in Georgia and we’ve had this for about 6 months now. I really do enjoy it. I’m not good at clipping coupons and I don’t receive the Sunday paper. I shop at Walmart for most things now since it’s the closest store to me. I’ve uploaded probably 30 receipts and I’ve gotten back about $30. It takes about 2 days to get a response and it’s easy to use your e-certificate when you’re ready. You can go back up to 7 days in case you forget one.

    • Heather

FYI yes they do still do ad-match in store as well! I just did it last week.

  19. rach

thanks for letting us know about this.
i try to avoid walmart most of the time. i get better prices at my grocery with the sales and doubled coupons, and aldi and the such….but even all of us end up at walmart every once in a while. 🙂

  20. Monty

Most of the questions being asked seem to be answered in the FAQs (see link in Collin’s post). Only time will tell whether this thing works or not. Thanks, Collin, for posting this.

  21. Carol

Wow, sounds great! I shop there several times a week. Thanks for letting us know!

  22. Cara

Have been doing this for about 4 months, inputting 1 receipt per week or so , have gotten back about 22$. If you price match, continue to, they may not catch every match and only compare prices with certain stores within your area. If you shop there any way it’s just a nice extra feature to have.

    • brdavis55

Cara…I tried to put a receipt in for 06/24/14 & it won’t let me change the month from todays date. So the only receipts I can enter are for July?

      • Cara

They have to be entered within 7 days of purchase date, I believe it is…?

  23. Lee

I have been doing this program for a while. Receipts have to be entered within 7 days and it takes 2-4 days to receive a response. I still price match and use coupons, but the little extra helps.

  24. Lindak

I rarely shop there but have gotten about $5 back. Easy program.

  25. Mar

Read the faq and still have a question for those who already used it. It says it will match items that are only in the circular including online…so if I buy an item that isn’t in the circular, but find it cheaper on the website of a competitor store, will they match it? As long as it fits under their types of groceries they’ll match rule?

    • RickPRick

This program is based off of Walmarts existing price matching policy. Walmart does not match online prices. They only match circulars for your area. If u bring up a circular on the web and print it or show them, then it’s fine. For example, if you look up an item on bestbuy.com they will not match the price listed unless it is also listed in the company’s circular for your area.

    • RickP

This program is based off of walmarts existing price matching policy. They do not price match online prices. They only match circulars from your area. For example, if you look up an item on toysrus.com they will not match the price listed unless it is also listed in the circular for your area. You can access the local circular online for ad matching, as long as it is the circular that you are referencing not the main site.

      • Elise

I disagree about the price matching (sorry can’t answer the question directly.) I frequently bring items up on my phone that are cheaper online elsewhere and the cashier only looks at my phone and does a price adjustment right at check out.

  26. Daniel

Am I the only one who hates this idea? Idk why. I’d just rather stick with regular price matching.

  27. Christina

I live in Florida and shop at Walmart to match the local BOGO offers at a lower price. I was surprised to see that even though I ad matched a BOGO offer, the savings catcher still gave me over S1 in savings of the item that I paid for because it was advertised less at a competing store! So it was like double duty savings! (And I used a coupon too)

    • delia

Walmart refuses to match bogo here if the ad says “save up to …..” instead of directly stating the price. Just another loophole to avoid price matching in my opinion.

  28. Becky

I use pricematcherz.com to pricematch at Walmart. The Savings catcher is just an added perk if i miss something.

  29. delia

Been doing this a while now and get frustrated with how many items price catcher didnt “catch” for me. Redds Apple Ale was on sale one wk at Dollar General. I bought it at walmart. Forgot to price match in the store and hoped Savigs Catcher would catch it for me but no such luck. Happened on other items also with various ads.. Cant trust it completely.

  30. judy

I have been using this program for a few months now. I have 35 dollars built up and I don’t plan on getting the gift card until November. I am going to use this to help with my Christmas shopping. Keep in mind that you have to enter your receipt within 10 days.

  31. Ashley

The catch is you have to shop at Walmart! Ugh! I hate that store. I get better prices and customer service by couponing at Target and Publix.

    • Tiffany

I love publix. I wish we had one here. Or better yet I wish I was in Florida. 🙂

  32. Ashley

i cannot find this app on the apple market? what am i doing wrong?! =/

  33. Jess

The local news did a piece on this pilot program when it was only in a few cities for testing. They found out it took 2-4 days for savings to show up, and approximately 40% of the savings were NOT being caught even though they were in competitor ads and they had said they didnt do produce with that app. For me, its a fail cuz i don’t have time to babysit savings catcher, might as well pull out the ad the first time.

  34. Rachael

Can anyone help me… I downloaded the Walmart app on my phone, and downloaded my receipt, but I don’t see where to do the savings catcher. What am I doing wrong? TIA

  35. Crissy

I’m wondering the same. I downloaded the Walmart app but it doesn’t have this feature, what am I doing wrong?

  36. bridget

I would rather use a price match list service like http://www.pricematcherz.com and then submit my receipt to see if they find any other deals so I am still shopping from the sales and not just guessing what might be on sale.

  37. Debbie

Has anyone found which stores specifically are being compared? For those who have had savings, which stores did they catch for you?

  38. Darrick

For those that are asking about not finding anywhere on the app for Walmart, all you need to do is hit the barcode picture in the search field and scan either the square digitized box on your receipt or the barcode at the bottom of the receipt. It should automatically put your receipt into the system.

There are some other things to know about the Savings Catcher and they are things they just updated on the 17th of July without notice. Main thing is, you used to only be able to scan 15 receipts per month, that has changed to 1 receipt a day essentially (7 a week) and read the FAQ’s on the Savings Catcher Web Site, there is a lot more verbage about Arbitration and Walmart cutting your privileges of at their sole discretion whenever or whereever they feel like it. None of this was there before. It was a straight, simple easy thing to use.

Savings Catcher was first introduced many months ago in I think 4-6 Market Areas, there was no talk about how much you could “catch” up to, it’s just recent that they added that you can only save up to $599.99 in a calendar year, which is total ridiculousness. My savings catcher (which I started the same week it started never even mentioned a limit and last week, when I found that the savings catcher wasn’t even letting me redeem ecards, even after emails of stating how much it caught and was owed me, it wasn’t letting me redeem) I even called the hotline to find out why the REDEEM NOW button wasn’t highlighted anymore, even they couldn’t tell me about the limit on the account (the CSR was just kinda a information collector and stated they were having problems with the system and sounded like it could be an issue that was already known, needless to say, it got me no where. After several emails of “Please send us the TC number and date that you are referring to” emails, I just got mad. After two attempts to call, two inquires on the web site, with information that you are asking for included in the email, what???? How can you offer something like this, and I mean Price Matching and give the difference to you in an e-card, but you can only have up to $599.99 while the rest of the country can earn their money back one you reached a limit? Only reason why I find this very insulting as customer of Walmart on an, and I am not kidding, everyday shopper, is that I spend at least $180,000 a year at Walmart Grocery and why should I be excluded from the savings if they are just going to pay people out anyway somewhere else? As a customer, the lack of any serious involvement from ARKANSAS hotline to Savings Catcher or email, I find that this is something they seriously need to look at. I was totally for this program when it started, but having to do your own footwork to find out why a company website isn’t giving you what you were told, they can’t give you the difference after the sale, then maybe it’s time to have their computer systems update nightly or weekly or however it can be done, and give you the savings that’s advertised instantly and foregoing the e-card to be redeemed. That way there, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Walmart has the lowest prices, end of story. Walmart, if you can invest time and money into a program like this, it should be available to anyone at anytime anywhere there is a store and there should be no limits put on how much you save. If this was available at the registers, then and there, you wouldn’t have to consider any kind of tax forms to send out (which by the way, when did I give you my social security number to send that out anyway?), it would be all internal, a business practice that you and you alone would have to claim on any tax form. Not to mention, when you do reach your limit, like I have, and no one can give a straight answer and have to do your own reading on the now, NEW website, that there is limits, it’s a big o’l kick in the teeth, because now….I feel unappreciated especially since I was there at the beginning of the program way back a few months and just now finding out there are limits, feel me?

It’s like saying “hey you’ve reached a coupon limit this year, you can’t cut coupons for another year” so says Walmart. Seriously? Get your act together and put those heads together and focus on things that will retain customers, not make them mad.

    • Marlene

If your spending $180,000 a yr at walmart why dont you just go to costco its way cheaper and they also have a rewards program 2 percent back on everything. Except gas and you can get an american express another 1 percent back 3 percent back on gas

  39. teri

I am not able to sign in. I can sign in to my Walmart account but not savingcatcher. the circle just spins and goes back to sign in. I have contacted customer service but no response. has anyone had this problem. I was able to do it once and I saved $2 but that was it.

  40. Shirley Lawton
