I need a printer for school and coupons. Is this worth it?

    Thanks! 🙂

    • sandy

I highly suggest getting a laser printer from Brother that uses toner and not ink. The HL series goes on sale at Amazon and Staples quite often for $50 and the wireless one for under $100. The toner you can get on Ebay for under $10 and they last 6-9 months depending on how much u print. (Yields vary based on what printer u buy but my HL2240 Yields 2600 copies & my HL5470DW yields 8000 copies for under $10)

Hi, target has this printer and i was wondering if i price match can i still use the cartwheel coupon for 30% off this printer.

    • Amanda B.

      Great question!

    • Maggie

That is a great question!! I hope someone can chime in with an answer. Wouldn’t it be sweet if we could do that? 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi Elisa & Amanda!

According to Target’s Price Matching Policy, Cartwheel coupons will be applied before a price match is made. Darn!

      • Elisa

Thank you Colin, its still a good deal and since i waited until the last minute to get my son a printer for college, i think this is still an awesome price😊

        • Amanda

I just price matched this at target. I bought other items and when they scanned my cartwheel the additional 30% came off. Total price $31.49

I just bought this at wags with points, it’s a great lil printer, ez set up, low cost ink, my only complaint so far is qs printing in color. But yes it is easily worth $50:)

    • Deb

You can always switch to black and white printing by changing your printer settings. Look under “properties>advanced settings.”

Does anyone know if it works with wirelessly printing from an iPad for coupons?

    • caitlinjennifer

      It says that it does!

    • Deb

According to product description, it does work with iPad’s Airprint.

    • Kim

My daughter has one, has not been able to setup printer for her iPad, I tried also could never locate a printer… I think maybe there is not a canon printer app, I could be wrong. HPs work great…..hth

    • sandy

The only wireless printer that prints from coupons.com is a Hewlett Packard period. Why I don’t know but I finally did it 2 weeks ago at my sisters house with the App and it worked. Coupons.com is not compatible with any other wireless printers regardless of what they tell you.

      • julee

It is not true that HP printers are the only ones compatible with coupons.com. I have a Canon PIXMA MG 5220 and i am able to print wirelessly from both my iphone and ipad mini with it. You need to download the Canon PIXMA printer app in order to use it on apple devices.

        • Sandy

This has been a 2 year battle with coupons dot com. Just tried it using Pixma App and it’s a no go once again. So frustrating. Maybe only certain Canon models can print. Thx for yr reply though, was worth a shot.

          • Andre

The Coupons.com app updated to a version that opened up to more printers than HP, which it was an exclusive in the beginning. Have you tried deleting the coupons.com app and reinstalling?

            • Sandy

No. I’ll give that a shot and try again however I just loaded the Pixma App for first time ever and still did not work. Thank God I have 4 desktops & laptops hardwired to my other printers so I can still print coupons until I fugure this out. So frustrating.

We bought this printer about a month ago. Setting it up wirelessly took my husband (who is an IT guy) awhile and it never did work from his laptop just mine. After two weeks it gave me an error code. When I looked up the code it said to try replacing a part. I packed it up and returned it. We bought a different printer and hubby had it installed and working on all of our computers and iPads in just a few minutes. I would not recommend this printer.

    • Shari

May I ask which printer you purchased? I have been going round n round on this for weeks now! Thanks!

      • Shari

BTW the reason I was interested in this Canon Pixma MX472 was that it is rated a ‘Top Pick’ in this Sept. Consumer Reports. But was glad I read your review.

This is a great little printer for the price, especially at this price!!! We had no issues setting it up (it was quite easy). We’ve also had no issues printing wirelessly (or plugged-in) from any of our devices. That said, ALL wirelessly printed documents automatically print in color. And I have not been able to print ANY coupons in black and white (grayscale), even “plugged-in.” Other document types will print just fine in black and white, but not coupons. So, we go through more color ink than I prefer. I also have an older HP that I LOVE, but just isn’t used as often … We print a lot wirelessly.

  7. Crystal

I have this printer, I love it, very user friendly. The only downfall is I go through a black ink cartridge (which I have it set to print in black) about every 2 months which retails for about $20. However it is wireless, so I print from 2 iPhones in my house & my computer from coupons.com. Totaling 6 coupons per item!!

    • Sandy

I was surprised that you said you can print from coupons.com off your iphone/pad!! I’ve been trying for 2+ years with every possible fix out there from their IT people and they finally told me to get a HP as my Canon MX892 & Brother printers are not supported even using the App. The coupons print tiny. Any ideas you can give me that the useless team at Coupons.com hasn’t 🙂 ??

  8. maflies1

Have a Canon Pixma MG5320 and MG5420, both of which I have set up default print as grayscale, so that my coupons print in B&W. Having worked in office environments I became fond of Canon, and that is what I always look at first, and about all that I purchase. For this price, I would not hesitate. I think you will be very pleased…and no I have no monetary interest in Canon. 🙂 Oh, and they are both set up as wireless, as well.

  9. Millie

hey i feel that we are saving on printer but not on ink.Even if you pay on printer its fine it is one time but for ink we are spending every 2 months 20$ it means a lot for a year.So pls think once before getting into this.
And one more thing we can find videos on how to save on ink by switching to other mode.

  10. julee

Just an FYI for those concerned about not being able to print from coupons.com from an i-thing using canon printers : you need to download the PIXMA printer app in order to print wirelessly from an apple product. Not all models are supported, i am sure, but the lack of this app may be why some are having difficulty using coupons.com on a canon wireless printer.

  11. Trina

Has this deal already expired? I’m not seeing that price

  12. Jodi

Says it’s $60.50 now. Am I missing something?

  13. Sophia

No, looks like Amazon raised the price. I saw it was $45 but then refreshed and now it’s $60.50. Boo

  14. Maureen

I got it price matched at $45 & used cw oop $33 already printing off my iphone
