Can we use fa stamps on this deal? Can anyone answer this please. TIA

    • Christine

      No hot foods

      • Janet

As I was typing you answered the question.

    • Janet

Do you mean food stamp? If so I don’t think you can use food stamp on hot food. My father has a small store and I remember him saying that. Hth

    • Kelly

Shopping at whole foods will make you go on food stamps. I love it there but pricy. Not sure how its affordable for someone on food stamps?

      • e

My grandfather owns a grocery store that I worked in my entire pre professional life. It’s actually quite impressive how much some folks get…and really sad how little some get. There was this one family he always slipped extra food into their bags for, they had a big pile of kids they worked hard for and provided for until a local plant shut down, dad lost his job, he was a fairly well paid individual. They got so little food stamps it was depressing. Thank goodness they’re back on their feet now. Then there are families who could nearly eat steak and lobster for every meal! I have no idea how it’s calculated but that is one broken system. I never judged, but definitely felt sad a whole lot.

Not everyone who shops there gets speciality items

We buy most of our groceries but get some food stamps and I shop whole foods sometimes

Store brands, bulk items, coupon stacking, etc….

        • Deb

I agree with Janel. You have to research and know what local prices are. I only buy a few things from WF—things that are on special. No way could I do my weeks’ worth of shopping there, although I do see people do that!

      • Amy

I receive foodstamp assistance and am still able to stretch my $189.00 monthly food budget pretty far at Whole Foods by ONLY buying what’s on sale AND has coupons (usually stacking store and manufacturer coupons). I don’t want my family consuming GMO filled foods from Wal-Mart when I can put in a little extra work to get Whole Foods instead. I have (no exaggeration) 5 Wal-Mart stores within 20 minutes from me, but would rather drive (without a/c, in Florida) 30 minutes to Whole Foods (with an ice chest in tow for the cold foods lol). Careful planning & budgeting makes all the difference in the world for THIS family! 🙂

        • Vane

Wow, Amy! You are doing a great job! And your family will always appreciate it!

  2. Anita

How much do they cost regularly?

    • Retta

Normally they’re $10 each but if you buy 2 the 2nd is half off, so 2 for $15.

  3. Guest

Do you think Walmart will price-match this? (I’m sure Whole Foods’ chicken is probably better, but my Walmart is way closer!)

  4. L

Can you use food stamps at whole foods to purchase food? Thanks

    • e

      Yup, it’s a grocery store.

      • e

You can use food stamps almost anywhere that sells food. You just can’t buy hot food. You can even buy plants and seeds that produce food.

You know what else is good is the Costco rotisserie chickens (if you’re a Costco shopper)! I want to say they’re always $5. Yummy with lots of meat.

    • Jen

      That was dinner tonight!!! Deeeeelicious!

    • deb

Yes absolutely! Costco roast chicken is so yummy & the best part its already cooked! The best deal around!

  6. Deb

If you are thinking of getting this deal, go early. My WF does not put a limit on how many you can get and last time they had these chickens on a Friday special a couple of people came in and bought 30 chickens each, wiping out the supply for awhile.

  7. ashley

There is a big sale all weekend I think, different items everyday.

  8. Leslie

My DH works across from whole foods. Since my daughter has celiac, these chickens ARE our fast food! I separate the chicken from the bone immediately then we eat it or make something with it.

I’m tempted to buy a few & freeze the rotisserie meat. These are sooooo good!

    • Erica

I’ve heard a lot of people do that. I have yet to buy one…will most likely get mine from Costco or winco tho.

Dh is in charge of the trucks that delivers food to whole foods and he won’t even shop there.

  9. Misty

If you really want to save money, but a whole chicken and today it yourself. It is really away to do in the oven or crockpot. Takes about 10 min of prep time. And watch the weights. many rotisserie chickens are only 2-3 pounds (raw weight). I like to buy the bigger 4-5 pound chickens regularly priced at $.89 at Aldis and cook myself. So for less than $5, I get twice the meat. And yes the chicken is hormone free at Aldis.

    • Misty

I really hate the spell checker on my phone 🙁

This whole food stamp discussion kinda opens my eyes. I rarely (like once a month) shop at wf because it’s just too pricey for us. Trader joes and sprouts offer better value but when I do go there I am always shocked by the variety of people shopping there. People who appear to be not that well off buying a carload of groceries. It always perplexed me how they could manage it. I absolutely love and support what wf stands for and is doing but reality is we can’t spend that much on produce I can get organic and cheaper somewhere else.

Here in NorCal you can use food stamps at the local Farmer’s Markets.

I went to Whole Foods today and spent $1.12 on 10 items! Yes, I agree that some items are expensive but your paying for better quality and specialty foods. Before Whole Foods, I shopped at a small health food store which was WAY more expensive! There are many bargains there if you buy stuff on sale and stack coupons. Kudos to those on food stamps who are trying their best to feed their family healthy foods!!!

  13. Melissa

I went to Whole Foods today and I only shop there a few times a year. How do your locations process the coupons. The last time I went, they scanned them, but it was kinda a disaster, took two women like 20 minutes to get me checked out. Then this time, it took the woman like 10 minutes of sorting my coupons, then she counted them manually in her head, the manufacture and WF seperate and just added them up and subtracted them from the bill. I thought this was odd. Is that what all locations are doing. She even had to get a supervisor to click off for her. I thought it was bizarre.
