I sooooo wish I had the money for this right now. The reviews are good and I’ve been wanting to learn how to sew.

Hello Elaine, wait for black Friday, I bought my Brother machine for $49 last year at Wal-Mart and they have plenty left even after the sales. It has less stiches but for the first time sewer like us is great.

      • Leslie

        Which brother machine was it??

        • Abby

          Brother at your side LX2375

      • Elaine

Thanks. Maybe I can suggest it as a gift 🙂

My mother in law bought me this same exact machine for $99 Black Friday last year

    • Sabrina

I got a brand spanking new Singer Simple for 29 at a local pawn shop and it is perfect for a first timer. Sewing was a lot harder than I expected (I had a lot of jamming at first with wrong tension and width for threads/fabric) but this machine made is easy to learn and isn’t complicated. It has less stitches, but do you even know what stitch are you really going to use anyway? I highly recommend pawn shops because you can also haggle with them, they will always eat the tax for you! Craigslist is good in my area as well, DFW TX.

  2. Leslie

Does anyone own this?? Would it be a good machine for first time sewer??

    • Deb

You see cheaper Singer machines, sometimes as low as $69, but they have lots less stitches. Unless you know for sure that the new sewer will continue on, you could probably pick up a used machine for less on Craigslist and see if they enjoy sewing. Also, Black Friday is coming soon, so there’s always a chance of good deals then, but you never know…

  3. TinaLobs

I just ordered mine my old one needed to be worked on probably cost more than purchasing this new one😃

I need a sewing machine also, and was wondering if this is a good price. I know walmart usually has one or two for around this price on black friday too. I’m just learning and would mostly use it to hem pants, sew up holes, etc. I’m not planning on making clothes…so is this over kill for me. Or is $100 about what i’m going to pay anyway. Thanks for any advice.

You can also look at the HSN and QVC websites. Both have some machines ranging from $63-79 that may meet your needs. Read the descriptions and reviews.

Hi cbeths, I know what you are telling. I know sewing well and can make clothes as well but I learned in an old fashioned machine.
I bought one from Kohls 3 years back, and have used a few times only and do all my mending and hems by hand. The reason I do not use my machine much is its not automatic threader and I find it more time consuming to put the thread in the machine than doing simple tasks by hand.
This one is an automatic threader, so this might be good for you. My suggestion though is to buy the machine from kohls or bed bath and beyond who have lifetime guarantee on their products as you can return the item without hassles if you happen to change to a different model. HTH.

        Thank you!

    • Becky

Cheaper machines are often (not always) harder to thread and more probe to problems like the bobbin jamming and such. Regardless of what you plan to do with it, this is a great machine for the price! I am a seasoned seamstress and have a base model Singer machine. It sews, so it works, but I miss the days using my moms nicer machine.

  5. Keri

I just got mine free by applying for 2 Amazon credit cards, I got 2 gift cards…1 for $40 and 1for $60!!! I paid $6.50 for tax…can’t beat that!

    • Leslie

Did you have to be approved?

      • Keri

        I think so…I was approved.

    • Michelle

That is awsome Keri! Where did you apply for them?

  6. Danielle

Just ordered it! I’m super excited!!! I’ve always wanting to learn to sew. Reviews state this is a great starter machine.

    • cbeths

When I go to the link, it gives a choice of two machines. 7256 with 70 Stitches and 7258 with 100 Stitches & Programmable Needle. Lots of the reviews were for the higher priced machine. Did you find a way to sort them?

  7. Susie

Thanks for posting. One more Christmas gift marked off the list! My mother in law has been wanting a sewing machine & the reviews are high with the price low…that magical combination. 🙂

    • nicolegammeter

      😀

  8. Lauren

Thanks for posting this deal!! I missed the last singer heavy duty machine (they grey one) for $99 on Amazon and have been waiting for another great deal (like this one!) I used to sew about 10 years ago, but my old machine was too hard to thread so I gave up (and also before YouTube exitsted lol!!) so I’m glad to see this one is beginner friendly and I love all the stitching options…my dog is going to get A LOT of Christmas bandanas! He’s only 2 pounds so it should be a fun and easy job for me to start out on…then pillows for the couch and window panels next lol! Thx Collin!!

    • nicolegammeter

      Have fun sewing! 🙂

    • Ren

I would make ppl and pets matching fleece headband hats or scarves for people and collars for dogs out of fleece – like favorite sports teams – it was a hoot as gag type christmas gifts!

  9. Christina

It just disappeared out of my cart! All gone at this price 🙁

  10. HeatherM

They are all showing up at $169 now

  11. Mia

Definitely wait for Black Friday! Both walmart & Joanne’s has sewing machines around $50!

  12. Tracy

Bummer. I missed this one. Collin, please post if you see this one again. I would love to get it for my mom for Christmas.

  13. Susie

Heads up everybody, if you did this deal be sure to check the expected ship date. Mine has been changed to between Jan 2, 2015 and June 17, 2015, even though it states it’s in stock.
