Love that I can get $ back from saving star and snap. Then upload the receipt to receipt hog!

    • Noel

What is receipt hog? I have never heard of this before?

These healthy offer ones confuse me! lol I tried contacting them to explain what it means when it says “unfortunately this offer can not be used on produce you weight and tag produce yourself prior to checkout”. All they said was something about UPC and PLU numbers or something that made no sense to me. Does anyone know and can explain how these produce ones work? Saving star requires you to scan the item so how can you do that when produce in a bag doesn’t have a bar code? Thanks and sorry for being dumb! haha

    • mel

I think that means items the store packages/labels themselves. Sometimes Winn Dixie will have half cantaloupes cut or saran wrapped banana’s on a tray. Those have been pre-weighed and labeled with a UPC bar code. What they want is for the cashier to plug in the PLU number on the loose produce for a weight at the register. Not scan a UPC bar code.

      • Brooke

Sorry, Mel. I was replying at the same time and didn’t see your reply.

        • mel

NP! I have done the same thing 🙂

Hi, Trish. Most produce you buy has the PLU(price lookup code) on it. It’s that little sticker that’s on almost every item. It’s the 4 digit code that you also enter on self checkout when you buy produce. Most stores don’t have where you weigh and tag produce before checkout. It’s pretty much done at checkout and the PLU number is entered for Savingstar to track. HTH.

      • Trish

Thanks for responding guys and clearing up the UPC and PLU’s for me. So now my last question is how do you upload your receipt for produce if Savingstar requires you to scan the item before uploading a receipt if there is no scan bar on loose produce?

        • Laura

When you buy produce, there should be a number associated with that product on your receipt. You will type that number in. I’ve done this with bananas and it works fine.

          • Trish

Oh OK I never noticed that you can type #’s in! Thanks 🙂

What is loose leaf lettuce? Does anyone know for sure? What is I buy the bag orcontainer of lettuce. Looks like that would work for snap but would it for savingstar?

    • savingstar

Hi CK – Loose lettuce refers to lettuce that is not pre-packaged. If you buy a container of lettuce that is already priced with a barcode by your store, that would not work. It needs to be the loose lettuce that you put in a bag yourself. Hope that helps. Thanks, Josh from SavingStar

oh why, why they stopped accepting Kroger’s store cards…… My phone has troubles reading bar codes, I could try scanning them for hours and nothing happens….. It was so convenient -using the store card 🙁

    • savingstar

Hi – We would have loved for Kroger to allow SavingStar members to continue to link our deals to their store loyalty cards. If your phone doesn’t scan barcodes well, you can also submit a picture of your receipt online. Thanks, Josh from SavingStar

Thanks for the heads up, Collin! I love the fresh produce savings, it’s nice to get something back on the real healthy foods!
