I received the email yesterday. Yay gold!

    • nicolegammeter

      Awesome! 🙂

  2. Jenny

Thank you!! I had deleted the email-I was able to go back into my trash folder and receive gold status!! Awesome!!

    • nicolegammeter

      Sweet! 🙂

  3. Dep

I received this yesterday also!!! Wooo

    • nicolegammeter

      😀

This really irritates me that people can just get gold without paying for or earning it, while those of us who have spent all the time and money buying beverages and earning 30 stars don’t get anything. At least they could send gold members the email and let them renew their gold status without having to get another 30 stars.

I have got to say I completely agree with you on this.. I too spent a lot of money getting gold status. I am very starbucks loyal due to the only way you get Gold status is to purchase through them..I interesting enough just reached my gold status to put me through Jan 2016. I have to purchase a bit to get anything for free..they could have sent a little something to the loyal customers as a “thank you” at least..

    • April

Agreed they sure dont like rewarding people who spend a lot of money on their beverages.

I had to disagree with Jenny. I’ve been a gold member for years. Starbucks is always sending me special offers–extra stars, buy one-get one free coupons, challenges to get more rewards by buying specific products. The Starbucks loyalty program is one of the best out there and it really works–I’m very loyal!

The whole rewards thing is kind of silly, I’m Gold just out of buying there for convenience, but when you think about it their program is not very saavy or do you save money. You spend on average $36 ($3/drink x 12 drinks) to get a free $3-$4 drink. Silly IMHO. Plenty of other coffee places, if more of us began taking our money elsewhere they’d feel it

Maybe call customer service and ask to be upgraded? This is far off base, but every year Directv offers new customers free Sunday Ticket (watch all football games every week). My husband calls every year to tell them this is unfair for those of us that have been with Directv for 10+ years…that we are the ones that should be rewarded. Each time year he calls they either give it free or for a discounted rate. Worth a try!

I agree with you Jenny! I finally made it to gold … And then was able to hit gold again to maintain it for another year, to ’16. Granted I was able to do so with purchases and incentives (bonus stars), but I’ve had to pay for A LOT of drinks or purchased coffee to brew. It wasn’t just given to me. I know as another poster said this might only be for individuals that are currently close to gold, which if it’s a couple stars would be like a bonus purchase and not that big of a deal, but if that’s not the case … why not offer the ones who already are gold an “extra” incentive, as we’re the ones that have already spent the money to get to gold. My two cents.

    • Ashley

I was thinking this as I was reading this post, too. 100% agree.

    • Rachel

I spent years buying from my college’s Starbucks where I wasn’t allowed to use a card, and I was usually there from mid-morning to 9 at night. This is great for me because I’ve spent a lot of money without getting any perks.

      • Rachel

I was also only a few stars away from reaching gold status. Perhaps they’re sending this to people who only lack a few.

  5. Amy L

I was 2 points away from gold and it reset! No email reminding me how close or anything. I was very disappointed and haven’t been since! Terrible CS for this promotion!

  6. Ana

I have to agree with you Jenny, I have spent lots of money trying to stay Gold, for what? Nothing… 🙁 I wish we were the ones that got the free drink, but oh well I guess… Maybe next time I won’t try too hard to get gold now that I know they give it out for free.

  7. Eunice

I’ve never stepped foot in any Starbucks both in the US & abroad first because I’m not a coffee drinker, 2nd of all I’m kinda stingy lol. I just reload my card once in a while if I get some free e-gift cards and let my husband use it up. And sometimes I get lucky to have free stars shared by awesome bloggers like Ms. Collin 🙂

  8. Heather

I’m pretty sure they didn’t send this to people with only a few stars but rather those that are close. Last year they did something similar but you had to earn so many stars and then they bumped you up. I agree though us gold members deserve more… I don’t even get half the offers that are posted…I went most of the year not getting a single offer until September. And I purchase frequently. I’m gold for the next 2 years.

  9. Laura

My son got this email. He hasn’t been gold for a few years. They must want him back.

  10. Cindy L

I did not receive email, I only have 3 stars

  11. Ritz

I had zero stars and i got the email..

  12. Emily

Ok, I admit as a gold level I’m a little jealous of those who get the extra bump to gold! But, the fact is if you’re already gold it probably means you’re willing to pay the $ to have coffee there anyway regardless of point status. People who never go to Starbucks and are now gold status most likely won’t be going there all the time now just because their gold, lol. The rewards are nice but nothing special. I’ve been using my IBotta cash to keep my card loaded. It’s great for when we are traveling and need consistently good coffee on the road. There are lots of ways to earn bonus stars for Starbucks regulars. Just make sure you’re signed up for emails. Just got a survey for a Starbucks order yesterday and will get a star for completing. 🙂

  13. Vickie

I’m 8 stars away from gold. Instead of the gold status email I got one that said earn two stars for every beverage purchased to get to gold status faster. I’m a little jealous but in all reality I only go there when they offer double stars and buy one get one free deals which happens a lot at my target Starbucks. So it’s six of one, half dozen of the other for me on this deal.

  14. Kristen

Glad I saw this..I deleted that email and was able to recover it from the trash. Woohoo for gold. Of course I get starbucks like once a year so I’m not sure what good it will do me. lol

  15. emma

I think this is completely outrageous, I spent a lot of time money and effort getting to gold and now some people are just getting it for nothing? I think I will talk to CS about this

  16. Milk Allergy Mom

I got it but deleted it. I don’t want to spend all that money at Starbucks. I can get a 99 cent iced coffee at DD and I love their convenient app. I’m earning rewards with that. 🙂 I lost some weight after giving up all the sugar in those fraps and mochas. And I love DD offering almond milk. Finally!!!

  17. Milk Allergy Mom

Also, I got the email but am not close to gold. I never go there or use my card. ???
