Just a reminder on this *HOT* toy clearance sale! If you have a Barnes & Noble nearby, you may want to head on over there SOON as you may spot an AWESOME $2 clearance sale! Keep your eyes peeled for Vtech Innotab games, dolls, high quality books and SO much more – all priced at just $2! Crazy, right? All of these items would make for great additions to the gift closet…

Here are a few of the bargains Hip2Save readers scored:

I scored some really cute large bags that I will use as gift bags, loads of books and stuffed animals! There were Vtech cartridges but my kids are a little too old for them. Also, I will be donating lots of the books to the classrooms!

* Spartanburg, SC has TONS of 500 and 1,000 piece puzzles. I also picked up some lacing sets for kids, a picture frame, and a couple other odds and ends. Tons of books on cats and a few cookbooks still left.

* Only one small $2 table at mine but luckily had a few InnoTab games I needed! I got Doc McStuffins, TMNT, Minnie, & Monsters Inc. There were a few extra Minnie’s and a Doc left. Also got a wedding memories book, a bar jokes book, a couple cheap games for kids Xmas stockings, a cute 500 pc puzzle, and a princess restickable stickers/scene. Not too shabby! πŸ™‚

I finally got to B&N today and gathered 4 bags full of goodies! I got Vtech reader games, tons of books, puzzles, some cute s craft scissors and some other stocking fillers. The cashier told me that on Tuesday they had legos, big toys, and board games, but had sold out quickly.

What great finds! Has anyone checked barnes and noble in Milwaukee, wi?

    • rachel

Wondering the same, Connie. I sent my husband and daughter to the Mayfair Mall one this morning. I’ll let you know if they find anything!

      • Connie

Thanks Rachel, for your reply. I know last year I made a special trip to the one by south ridge mall, and they had nothing (course, I might have just been too late!!)

        • Sophie

Went to Bayshore mall one and not much left. Picked up a chess game and a word game.

    • m mars

That is so thoughtful of you, God Bless you also!

    • rachel

Thanks for that reminder. I have a few gift closet items that will most definitely be going to Toys for Tots!

  4. Pharmchick

One didn’t have anything kid friendly for $2.. Just books and a few 100 piece puzzles. Maybe if I went earlier in the week they would’ve had some more stuff.

  5. Diana

How did you get the vetch camera for $2? I called my Barnes and noble and they were full price

    • Amy

I was also able to get the camera. At my location it was under the table but it had the big red sticker on it.

      • visitor3

I bought a vtech camera from kohls last year… had to return it. It was dirt cheap, but the thing was too difficult for kids to use. Plus it took lousy pictures and required an EXPENSIVE disk battery and there was no autoshutoff, so after the child leaves the camera “on” for a few hours, the battery is dead. Battery replacement cost more than the camera.

Maybe vtech has redesigned the camera? Check the model number against reviews on amazon. The model I bought had dismal reviews.

  6. Crystal

I went today. Mine didn’t have anything good.

  7. Theresa

Only books and journals at mine

  8. Colleen

I live so close to this place! Most definitely going to check it out!

    • nicolegammeter

      Happy Shopping! πŸ™‚

  9. Linna

Got a couple coffee table books! Only a small table was left at my store, but super happy with my finds!

    • nicolegammeter

      Yay! πŸ™‚

  10. Me

There were two tables left a mine two days ago. My grandmother has Alzheimer’s and my daughter has short term memory loss due to seizures and they love to do puzzles together. This was a hugely successful trip for me. Thanks!

    • nicolegammeter

      You’re welcome, Me! πŸ™‚

I called my closest location in MI before I went. I asked if they were doing the $2 clearance. She said “Yes”. I asked if there was a lot left and if there were games and Crayola items etc. She said “yes, there are”. I asked her if there was a lot left and she replied with “yes”. I got excited and packed the kiddos in the car (a 3yr and a 1yr). We got there within the hour. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE LEFT! The likelihood of all of it disappearing before I got there was very slim. Lets just say I was a little irritated when I left.

    • anonymous

I understand your annoyance, but it’s not totally fair to blame the store employee. “A lot” is relative and means different things to different people. If it isn’t worth packing up two small kids and walking away empty-handed (because that is the nature of clearance shopping), then you probably shouldn’t bother.

    • MommySpendsLess

I understand your frustration but I have to agree with anonymous in 11.1. Another possibility is that a majority of what they employee was referring to could have disappeared within an hour. All it would take is one person to purchase half a dozen items between the time you called and the time you got there for the employee’s “lot” to become your “very little”. If you read the end of the post and the comments, most people who stumble on the $2 clearance table aren’t buying just one item.

Also, it’s not always the best idea to call about clearance deals as sometimes it draws the attention of store employees who may not have been aware of the markdowns already. While I believe that it’s fair for employees to also be customers (and often times that’s one of the perks in retail) they have an advantage of already being in the store to beat you to the deal.

I scored lots of Vtech and InnoTab games, 2 sets of gorgeous glass coasters, a Trivial Pursuit Worlds of Warcraft game, Fancy Nancy dolls, Angelina Ballerina dolls, Lego luggage tag, 2 glass jar soy candles, a National Geographic kids bug catcher toy, 2 little “suitcases” with practical joke toys/book inside, and lots of awesome books! πŸ™‚

    • nicolegammeter

      Awesome! πŸ™‚

  13. kristi

Wish my local stores in El Paso, TX had them marked down to $2. We are at 75% off now. My husband is running the Toys for Tots program here this year, and they need all the toys they can get. I have been buying and trading for some, and have probably about 50 saved up so far.

  14. mamasweetpea

wow, those are awesome deals and we could use the innotab games. will check out our local B&N

  15. Meg

Ours in Richmond, VA was marked down to 75% and not $2. But had few toys and lots of books for kids/baby.

    • Mel

Yeah, I hit the Glen Allen store (VCC location) and they were at 75%, but I picked up several books for less than $2.00. As far as books, they had a good bit left, I didn’t see any toys, maybe a few innotab games.

  16. laura

Northside Indianapolis, IN had 2 little tables with books, puzzles and summer tote bags:( Bummer! However I had to return something next door so it wasn’t a wasted trip.

  17. awlrain

Wow, jealous of all the stocked clearance tables around the country. In Forest Hills NY I did find 3 bins, but mostly junk. I did find a random board book for my kiddo plus a copy of Corduroy for when he’s older and not ripping pages πŸ™‚ Checked another BN and there was only 1 bin, not much. My husband checked another BN and didn’t find much either. Did anyone else see a huge selection of cat books (all 3 BN had a ton)? I’m a cat lover, but even to me they were junky cat books!

    • Dee

LOL, yes, they had a bunch of cat books in the one here!

  18. Kristine Jaarsma

Thanks for the heads up! I was able to score some awesome stocking stuffers!!!

    • nicolegammeter

      Sweet! πŸ™‚

  19. Dee

Warwick, RI store doesn’t have much left. Mostly old bags of candy, a lot of weird little red guy key chains (I think from some charity thing?) and a bunch of Roald Dahl insulated lunch bags. They had tons of stuff last week when it was 50% off, went back last night and anything good was already cleaned out.

  20. Eileen

If you have a B&N membership 10% will be taken off the clearance price which makes items $1.80. I bought a few books including a wedding memory book, getting married in May πŸ˜€ I also bought some candles that were originally $19.95. Bradley, IL B&N didn’t have any Vtech items when I went.

    • nicolegammeter

Congrats on the upcoming wedding! πŸ™‚

      • Eileen

        Thank You πŸ˜€

  21. Jenny

There wasn’t too much at my B&N in Chula Vista. I went in yesterday and I saw a few Domo Pop figures, 100 piece puzzles, that little doll, but nothing too exciting.

  22. Stacey

I just got 6 VTech games at our BN store, $2 each! Thank you so much, I will be returning the one I got for my little man at Target last week! Those silly games are $25!

  23. Jacki

East side Madison had one table with very little on Tuesday when I was there – mostly books and a few puzzles. I didn’t end up getting anything πŸ™

    • Jacki

      Madison, WI…

  24. Erica

I went to the location in Fairfax, VA today and I couldn’t locate any clearance. Bummer.

    • Jen

Falls Church has a table of items. Mostly kids books, key chains and some stuffed animals. I snagged the last two summer totes and a cute beach sign! The stuff that was there was all in good shape. Thanks for posting this! The books will make really nice gifts/donations!

  25. kim

I found some great stuff on the $2 clearance tables in Springfield, IL this morning … including a 42-piece Playmobil Patrol Boat #4263 (normally $23.95); Playmobil Zookeeper with Exotic Birds #4758; Hello Kitty, Disney Princess, Dora and TinkerBell Great Fairy Rescue V.Reader sets; Pirate Adventure and Princess Palace pop-up books with pieces & mini-books; books; puzzles; Minnie & Hello Kitty Beanie Ballz; and a couple Monstaz stuffed toys. Thanks so much πŸ™‚

  26. Carolyn

In what part of the store did you find these tables?

    • kim

Our store had red balloons flying above the tables so you could find them. Was in middle of store.

      • Carolyn

        Thanks, Kim!

  27. Carolyn

Nevermind, I found it. It was in front of the magazines. I found several kids books, a puzzle, some picture frames, and stuffed animals. I’m happy! Thanks for the tip!
