Walmart shoppers! Check out how readers Brittany and Noelle were able to score LeapFrog LeapReader Books for ONLY $3 today…

I hit up Walmart’s Pre-Black Friday TV and play dough sale this morning. While I was there, I also looked at the Leapreader books since they too were included in the sale at Walmart for $7. On the books were $4 coupon peelies making them $3 a piece! The work books were also included. Even better was that they had the Leapreader Jr. 6 book sets clearanced out at $7 which also had the peelies so they too came to $3 after the peelie (they were originally over $19 per set!). What a deal! Note that not all books are included in the sale – people will need to price check and not all books have peelies and some peelies on the books expired in 2013. Luckily all the ones I wanted had ones that expire at the end of the year!

I was at Walmart and noticed that the Leap Frog Tag Reader books are part of their early Black Friday deal today. Normally $9.96, they are marked down to $7 BUT then I was able to find coupons on some of the books for an ADDITIONAL $4 off!!! So I payed $3 for each book! I snagged 4 of them!

I luckily had one of those coupons that I saved from months ago. When I went to our store last night, someone took off ALL the peelie coupons. Bummer.

  2. Kalynn

I wonder if any Tag Junior books are marked down. That’s what my 2yr old likes!

    • Brittany

Yes, the ones that were not clearanced were. Not a big selection. Only one in the clearance section rang up at $5 before the coupon-the rest were still $10.97 clearanced. Go figure…๐Ÿ˜•

The WalMart near my house only had signs on certain books and games making it seem like it was only those items. I decided to price check and discovered it applied to everything. There were no peelies at all. TRU had all their Tag books at 9.99 and some had peelies. I was able to get the human body set for 5.99.

      Awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Teresa

    No peelies anywhere!๐Ÿ˜’

I have seen this before. Customers who take peelies off should be prosecuted. It is equivalent to stealing. The peelie on the product is part of the product and belongs to the person buying it.

    • Vanessa

Prosecuted, really? It is from the manufacturer to use on their product. If you are on a budget and know that next week the same product will be half off and you return to buy it how is it stealing? You are still using it on their product at that store. And I’m not referring to all the peelies I’m referring to a couple only.

      • melissa

True, peelies are from the manufacturer to use on their product but it is meant for for the customer buying that product and not for anybody to came and take. Taking a peelie from a product is stealing a coupon. If nobody takes the peelies off, the product and peelie will be there for everyone’s benefit and everyone can enjoy the sale.

        • Princess

@Melissa, I can understand your point; however I don’t know how many times I’ve gone to purchase an item with a peelie only to discover it’s been expired for a very long time.

    • Erin

I used to think the peelies came on the products from the manufacturer and were meant for a specific product (e.g. Nemo books rather than, say, Tinkerbell books) because the manufacturer wanted to move that specific “variety.” However, I was at a store recently and I saw someone applying peelies to products randomly. And today my Walmart had *tons* of books with peelies (some with peelies removed, too) that they did not have a couple weeks ago. Judging by the dust on them, I’m pretty confident that they didn’t move a bunch of books since the last time I was there but that a vendor or store employee simply added them to the books after the fact, so the whole peelie thing can be pretty random in terms of which product varieties have them. Also, don’t assume that peelies were stolen. They might have been tossed because they were already expired. In August, I saw Tag books with peelies that expired in December 2013, and I didn’t notice while at the store, but I bought a Tag Jr. book today that once upon a time had a peelie. It was so covered in dust I’m pretty sure the coupon would have been expired had it been there. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • melissa

I really did not know that peelies are applied randomly. I always thought that they came from the manufacturer. Its probably best that someone uses it rather than leave it on the shelf to expire!

      • Princess

@Erin, you are correct. I’ve been in a few stores where outside vendors were applying peelies to certain HBA items.

    • julie

I’ve seen the employees remove peelies TWICE at a Rite Aid by me. They were instructed by their store/shift manager because there was a reward that applied to the item in the ad. They didn’t want anyone getting a better deal. I don’t know if they were going to throw out the coupons OR turn them in for reimbursement.

  6. Mallen

The peelie on mine was for 2 books priced at $8 each so I didn’t use it. Did you guys have a different peelie?

    • Brittany

Yes, $4 off of one, $8 off of 2 priced at $7 apiece: $14-8=$6 or $3 apiece, so that coupon is just as good!

      • Mallen

No mine says this “save $4 at the register instantly with the purchase of any 2 leapfrog leapreader junior books or box sets over $8 and this leapreader junior system” I thought that meant my books had to be $8 a piece. Am I incorrect?

        • Brittany

Rats. It sounds like you are right. That stinks! Geez! I’m sorry.๐Ÿ˜ž I hate coupons like that.

    • Erin

I’ve been keeping my eyes open for Tag books for months, and there are a few different peelies out there. I saw the $8 one a while ago, and I was really excited til I saw it required the purchase of reader.

  7. Sierra

Thank you!!! I was able to get three with $4 off peelies and there were still a handful more.

    • nicolegammeter

      Sweet! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. sujanj

I was able to get 2. Someone took the coupons off most of the books but I managed to find 2 which is all I needed. Thank you!!

    • nicolegammeter

      You’re welcome! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Noelle Goron Hitzelberger

I was so excited to finally find a deal worth emailing Collin about! My husband was looking at me like I was nuts! He obviously doesn’t appreciate being a Hip2Saver! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Brittany

Me too-lol! I’m like wahoo! My 17 month old probably thought that I had lost my mind.

  10. Jennifer

Yaaaay!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I was able to snag this amazing deal!! Picked up 4 of them! I bought the Leap Reader on Amazon when you posted an awesome deal at the end of October!! Fabulous Christmas gift for my 4 year old!! Thanks Collin! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • nicolegammeter

      You are welcome! ๐Ÿ™‚

I also found the $4 peelies in addition to some clearance books. I found two books that were on clearance at $3. Basically free!!! I also found a leap pad game in clearance for $3 and when I went to check out it rang up for a $1!!! The games were priced $12.50 reg $24.99. I love those surprises and even more when the cashier looks just as surprised as you do!

  15. Jenny

My Wal-Mart had One Direction dolls for $3!!!! I was able to get 3 different dolls!! I probably looked crazy because I was jumping up and down with excitement!

  16. Kristina

At my Walmart all of the $4 peelies expired August 2013. The cashier wouldn’t let me use them. I ordered the LeapReader from Walmart online to pick up at the store and it was cancelled. I went to Walmart to get the books and they had LeapReaders. So next year during Black Friday events at Walmart I will not order online again.

  17. Princess

Thank you Collin, I got 3 books and they all had the $4.00 peelies. I paid $9.00 plus tax and used the $10.00 gc from the energizer battery deal you posted.

  18. Marie

At my walmart it was odd there were no stickers on the ranger giver battery’s but when I went back the next day all of them were sold

  19. Marie

I mean on the energizer baterries
