What happened to the easy canvas print post? I was trying to order….help?!?!?

  4. Paula

Just FYI this is commercial wall decoration, not fine art, so it is good for decoration only, if that is what you like. However, commercial wall art or poster art will not appreciate in value as opposed to actual fine art.

      Each Original Painting Features:

    • Angela

I guess I don’t know the difference. Can you educate me? How do you know what will appreciate? I guess I always thought if it is an original painting and not a copy that is good? Thanks in advance!! 🙂

I’m pretty sure your statement lacks facts. The artist lists the media she uses, as well as the fact that the paintings are one-offs, not commercially duplicated (exempting prints, of course). Value and beauty are both in the eye of the beholder, and your statement could be seen as offensive to true artists like Carmen.

      • Laila :)

Yes the beauty is in the art of the beholder. And the market is in the hands of the art investors. May not be fair, but is what it is. There is corruption at every level. And there is beauty at every level 🙂 Enjoy whatever art you choose to enjoy!

        • Laila :)

          *beauty is in the eye*
lol, hey art of the beholder is not so bad either 😉

  5. Victoria

Carmen, they are gorgeous. Good Luck!

  6. Sue

Very nice Carmen. I really do love the paintings and they would ALL match my living room perfectly. I’m going to look at the prints and see if they are within my range, thanks.

  7. Jennifer

I love these so much! Beautiful art! I can’t splurge on myself right now with all the Christmas I have to buy. Would love to be reminded of this in a few months though. Hint hint, lol!

  8. laura

i bought one of Carmen’s pieces last year. It is worth every cent and I get alot of compliments on it. I Love it!

    • Julie S

Me too! Bought the one called “Prosperity” over a year ago and love it still :). I love her new abstracts too.

      • trayceee

I got one last year and i love it!!

  9. Liz

Not in my budget unfortunately, but they are beautiful!

  10. Laila :)

The art market is vast, there is room for everyone. Some people like works that take months to compose but may not look like much at first glance, others like pretty pictures to brighten up their room. Everyone is free to love what they love!

The site mentioned above is low end decorative art, which will not appreciate in value even if it’s is an original. There is nothing wrong with buying what you like, but I think it sure is useful for people to understand what they are getting, how their purchase measures in the art world.

There is original “low” art (commercial/decorative) and then there is original “high” art (what serious dealers and art collectors invest in, the kind of stuff that you would see in reputable art galleries and museums). I specialize in this area and am learning everything I can. I worked closely with a respected artist who once refused a lucrative long term deal by a commercial/low end dealer, in order to keep his name in the high art. I can refer you to this person, if interested, very skilled, highly educated, used to teach college level, now fully dedicated to creating, his work is a really good bet if you’re looking to invest.

All in all, make sure you buy something you love. As Laura said, she loves this work.
If you choose to by original commercial (which is often mistaken for fine art) or original high fine art, make sure it is something that would be a pleasant sight for you for years to come!

Anyway, this is a long topic for conversation.

This is a good site if you wish to educate your self on this topic: https://artbusiness.com/collectors.html

You are passing judgment on one artist while promoting another. This steeps in hypocrisy.

Your assumption “The site mentioned above is low end decorative art, which will not appreciate in value even if it’s is an original” is more a personal opinion instead of a fact. Your concepts of “Commercial Art” and “Fine Art” are wrong. I am not going to explain them, just look them up in Wikipedia or Google. If you want to promote your service and your “respected” artist, there are agent’s directories websites and craigslist that you can use instead of a posting for another artist.

Art is a very controversial subject since it is very subjective, however, in my opinion; the point of this offer is that people can get a decorative original art for their home at a reasonable price.

  11. Laila :)

The artbusiness.com source seems like a good source to learn about the topic further. I do not know the guy, so I have nothing to gain but to shed light on commercial/decorative versus noncommercial art. This is a topic that is not even discussed in most MFA programs.

I am not saying do not buy commercial art, I am saying know what you buy, or not, it’s up to you. Note, I withheld the name of the artist I know. I knew I would change my mind about sharing their name here. So now I am free to take back what I said about sharing their info. Sorry, got overly excited about knowing someone who has such an amazing creative life that I got carried away! I will keep that info to self, so no worries, we can still talk about the topic without mentioning anyone we know personally.

Yes, this is a controversial topic. Yet, also the art market developed a certain way. And wether it’s fair or not, art is judged. There are such people as art critics. There is commercial and noncommercial art. Some think the word “original” is enough to invest in what may be passed on to their kids and grow in value, but commercial originals or reproductions will not, not so long as the market works the way that it does. There is such thing as art as pure decoration and there is also the art that can hop from one museum to another. Neither is better or worse. Yes, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think that’s where there is room for discussion. But, what is a fact is that the way the market works thus far, what is considered commercial art, is not considered of high value and thus will not appreciate in value. It will not be sold at fine art auction houses such as Sotheby’s.

There are scammers on eBay selling in fact “original” works that are hand-reproduced copies of popular works of art but they are near exact copies of someone else’s work, most appear to be from China. There is also a load of “fine art” in this art market that is considered a bad investment by experienced critics. And even at the top of the art market, meaning where art exchanges for millions, there is speculation, inflation, and corruption. There are famous collectors/dealers that invests in famous originals and play around with the market to keep the prices up.

Again, there is nothing wrong with being a commercial artist. Perhaps, it’s best for some artists to stay away from all of this speculation, corruption, etc and just paint decorations for people’s homes. Nothing wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with printing reproductions, so long as if they are a specific limited edition they remain as such. What is wrong is when people think they are getting one thing but they are getting something else. What’s wrong is that there is not always enough information for the consumer to know exactly what they are buying. Some people even end up buying reproductions thinking they are originals. Also, some artists sell “limited editions” without ever disclosing that supposed limit, which they should. And some originals are copies of someone else’s work(see eBay). Some reproductions can even be worth more than some originals. There are a lot of details involved and not enough information for people. Perhaps, that is why there is such thing as art consulting services. Too bad a lot of them do not even explain to the customer what exactly they are offering. I believe there is a market for everything, so far as the seller fully discloses what it is that they are selling. (Except in the case of GMO foods. I believe they should be labeled AND they should be banned.)

Alright, that’s it. I will find an art forum to discuss this further.

Happy Art Buying! Whatever you choose!

Just looking at the “art” clears up the finger-wagging and the debate: this is low-end stuff. Very low end. This is not a “deal”; in fact, it’s highway robbery.

  12. Karen

    Looks pretty to me

  13. Ann

I own one of Carmen’s original artwort and it is absolutely beautiful. I LOVE it! The way she shipped it was very professional also.

  14. Carmen

Thank you all for the comments. To Laura, Julie, Tracee and Ann, thanks again for purchasing and trusting my art.

I don’t represent any company. I am a self-taught artist. These are all my original works, 100% hand-painted by me and I put my heart and soul into each painting. I also work hard to promote and present my art. I don’t expect everybody to like my artwork. I just hope that, for those who choose to own one of my pieces, that it brightens their space (and looks pretty on their wall!).

If you have any question, please contact me any time. Thanks again! – Carmen
