In August of 2014 Keurig Green Mountain® replaced the standard Keurig K-Cup® brewers with a new version 2.0. This new version is very similar to previous models except for ONE thing… it includes a new lockout technology that only allows “Authorized K-Cups®” to work.
It does this by visually identifying a special ink on the lidding. Any cup without this “special” ink is rejected by the machine thus ensuring Keurig’s® marketplace dominance. While other companies are quickly working to adopt this special ink to their cups we at Rogers Family Company® believe that your right to choose any option is imperative.
That’s why we have developed this easily installed “Freedom Clip” for Keurig 2.0® brewers. Just place the clip in your new brewer and it will see all k-cup type pods as “Authorized K-Cups®” . This clip is our gift to you. Now go forth and brew with freedom.

Wow and what were people supposed to do with their boxes of regular kcups wow keurig didn’t think of that. I won’t be ordering cause I have the older keurigs and I dont need a clip but this is awesome.
Sounds like a good thing to get and hold onto for when your older Keurig breaks and you have to get a new one. Meanwhile, the reason for even needing such a device for a newer Keurig is maddening.

Thanks so much for letting us know about this!!!! We just bought a 550 last week and also purchased a reusable cup to brew our own coffee. That’s when the disappointment started. I got the oops message and was instantly ticked off. Thank god for YouTube hacks of the temporary fix of taping the old lid on top. I think it’s ridiculous to pay $150 for a coffee pot and not have the ability to use your own coffee. So this will be WONDERFUL to get this clip in the next few weeks!!!
This is GREAT!! I will be sending this and an Eco brew to the in-laws for Christmas. They bought a 2.0 while we were visiting them and we were all disappointed that their favorite brands/flavors were not use able the dad thing was it pretty much wasted the kcups that we tried because it still punched a hole and exposed the coffee to air. Hope this works like it says it should.
Happy to see a local company with an amazing promotion. We enjoy reusable cups with our keurig. Sometimes I add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drop of extract in the cup to customize my own flavored coffee (without artificial flavors). Thank you Colin and Rogers Family!
