I can’t get the site to work for me… It keeps telling me it has an internal error every time I try to check out. 🙁

Darn! Do you happen to be on a mobile phone!? Sometimes readers have issues when trying to checkout via mobile phone, so I would suggest trying to checkout on a computer! Hope that helps…

Fair warning — and this is not to discourage from shopping on Kohls.com, just to be wary — I tried to purchase 4 items for a total of abt $35 via my desktop PC with my debit card (I don’t do CC). REALLY great deals on some stuff! I DID just change my name on my bank accts but haven’t gotten my new cards yet; they’ve worked fine elsewhere where I’ve updated my name in various online store accts. I went to place my order and kept getting “kls_error_checkout_avs_system_unavailable”. I tried several times thinking the system was down/overwhelmed (that’s what unavailable usually means, right?). Could NOT get to the confirmation page.

Was abt to say the heck with it and walk away but something said “Check your bank acct!” I had 6 identical pending purchases from Kohl’s.com! My bank is one where pending is reflected against your AVAILABLE funds as a safety measure. Called Kohl’s customer service. The rep was SUPER nice but he couldn’t get it to go through even with help, even though I was WATCHING more “pending” charges rack up at my bank. Finally we decided NOT to attempt any more! He thought the name change was the issue (which struck me as odd b/c it hasn’t been an issue elsewhere) and advised me to call my bank. In TOTAL, over $300 was tied up via Kohls. Thankfully, my bank removed them immediately and said we can dispute any that DO go through since the order never went, but what if I hadn’t checked and just decided to head out shopping or to even put gas in my car? I’ve had decent previous online experiences from Kohl’s, but this one freaked me out. I’m sticking to their stores-only from now on. 🙁

FYI, that is a bank issue, not a retailer issue. If you hit submit multiple times your bank thinks you bought the items all those times and adds a pending transaction for each. Only after 3 business days of processing does your bank realize that you did not purchase multiples and the extra charges “fall off”. I hope this helps, as I have worked at various retailers over the years, as well as a bank, and this is a common problem.

Good job about listening to your instinct!

          • jenn

Thank you Laura. I wish more people knew how their own bank accounts worked. Normally you have to make a call if something like this happens, but a lot of banks can’t do anything unless something has cleared.

            • Julie

The bottom line I was hoping to point out — and if I was unclear in the immediate aftermath of my frustration, I do apologize — was that the specific error code generated by Kohls.com’s website in this instance seemed ambiguous and gave me the impression the checkout system itself was unavailable, not that there was an issue with my card/account, which I have experienced in the past (in that case I have checked my account to see if a charge was attempted). Often times with these deals, it is easy to “rush” to checkout to ensure you get the colors/sizes you want and the differences between sites’ checkout processes can be confusing. Was just hoping to avoid a bad surprise for someone else whose bank could not remove such charges instantly as mine did. 🙂

after entering the promo code the free shipping comes off 🙁

    • georgia

Must have to be $50 after taking the 20% off… you’ll probably have to add something to bring your total back up to $50

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry this is not working for you – I am getting FREE shipping on a $25 order when using the 20% off discount. Is there anyway you are using a mobile phone!? For some reason, it seems like many problems arise when trying to checkout via mobile phone….

    • georgia

      Oops. Sorry I meant $25… not $50. I was thinking Kohl’s cash.

  3. Bc

    Is it available in stores?

    • Dawn

only extra 15% off in stores according to husband who’s at Kohl’s right now..

  4. Ashley Allen

Mine is at 35 after the 20% was taken off and I still have free shipping.

  5. taya

Awesome glad i waited going to buy those leggings!!

  6. Jenn

These are cute but virtually impossible to put on a wiggly baby/toddler. My word of advice go with the zip ups! 🙂

    • Maria

I recently had a baby and can attest to this!

  7. Jennifer K

Collin, did you see baby jumping beans shirts and pants are only $3.99? It works with the cyber20 for 20% off!!! Go everyone, go!!

  8. Donna

Can I combine receipts to get the kohl’s cash? On Black Friday I was $20 short for another $15 kohl’s cash & I just spent $30 online. Can I combine both receipts & would I need to do it before December 1 when the promotion ends?

    • katy

You should be able to bring both receipts yo customer service in store and they can print you a kohls cash, but you do have to bring it in before the kohls cash promo (the time frame you can earn it) is still going, once they stop giving $15 kohls cash you are out of luck

  9. Carrie S

i didnt get free shipping till i spent $30, still a good deal though

  10. niki

does anyone know if i can only receive kohls cash as well as yes rewards if i use a kohls credit account or will it go through even if i use a credit card linked to my account?
