I got two sets of the construction forts at JCP last year for like $2 apiece after coupon, and I’m not sure it was worth that. It seems like a fun idea, but the rods are difficult to insert and the resulting structures are really flimsy–even using just a sheet.

Thanks for the feedback…was debating getting it…has a lot of good reviews online though!..

I came here just to say the same thing. Got it at rite aid cheap. Guess it was worth the cheap price but I mainly did the building and it was a little hard and flimsy

    • Cami

Wow thanks for the feedback I was about to order some of these bc they look like a lot of fun!

  2. Sarah

I bought the fort in the past…while a nice idea, it stunk….constantly collapsing and eventually gave away.

Discovery kids toys are a rip off!!! Don’t buy anything with that name on it!! I bought discovery kids laptops at bed bath and beyond and they broke within the week after I bought them. Took them back and got new ones, and same deal. Crappy products

What about the wood blocks? Are they not a good product? Any feedback would be helpful.

      • Lindsay

Wood blocks probably would be safe but, I wouldn’t support this company.

      • Sarah

I bought the wooden blocks last year. They might be (barely) worth the sale price but the regular price is inflated. The blocks are small and light weight. They don’t feel like solid wood like. A set of Melissa and Doug blocks I have. They are some kind of pressed wood product I think.

I got the wooden blocks on clearance from kohls for $2.xx a few years ago.. The kids love them so they were worth the cheap price I got them for!:)

      • MrsW

The same set of blocks is $15.99 at Kohls. With the 20% off code, that brings them down to $12.80. Free shipping with $25 purchase.

We have the wooden blocks and my kids love them. They have held up for 2 years and still look new. We got 2 sets so you can build a big castle scene….much better quality than a lot of plastic toys. I recommend them!! 🙂

Wow! What a great deal that includes shipping. Those things are HEAVY.

My kids got the construction fort last year for xmas, and it doesn’t really work that great. The pieces are hard to put together and it is very flimsy — and not very big at all. Would need at least 2 sets to build anything big enough for more than one child. Better to stick with making a fort out of sheets and some chairs/couch.

The discovery kids digital camera is great, kids love it, got lots of use.

  7. Angie

Thanks so much for the feedback! Saved me from spending money on a worthless product.

    • Nikita

      Me too!!!!!

Other people have already said this but the fort kit it horrible. It falls apart so easily. In fact when I look at that picture that advertises it I think. “Yes, go ahead and put that sheet on and then the fort will collapse in 3,2,1…”

  9. Cara

    The fort is a pain.
    The blocks are awesome!

  10. Melissa

I have both. I agree with everyone else-the fort is a pain, kids can’t do it, I can barely do it, and you would need at least 2 sets to even make it big enough to be fun. I love the blocks though, we have spent endless hours playing with these.

Great, I bought the sewing maching for $14 shipped, my daughters been driving me crazy for one. It had mostly horrible reviews but a couple good ones!

  12. Teri

My kids got the fort for Christmas last year and the same as above…hard to construct and collapses easily. It now sits in my oldest closet. Would not recommend it.
