Today is the 21st 😊… Thanks Collin! We just started a book club and not everyone owns an ereader so this is perfect for them. Thanks so much for all the deals!

We have owned this for a long time. In other words, this is an old model. No backlight, a few (non-intrusive) ads, and it doesn’t let you surf the internet. That being said, it is a great, basic Kindle. Great for reading books, of course, but you can also place pdfs. on it and carry them with you for whatever purpose you may have (work, school, etc.). The price is fantastic, especially with the rebate!

This isn’t an old model it’s the new 2014 Kindle Touch. Technically you CAN surf the web on the experimental browser. It also has access to wikipedia instead of just the dictionary. Plus it’s linked with Goodreads now which is cool. My favorite feature is that it learns how fast you read and tells you how long you have left in a chapter/entire book.

Thanks, great deal! I was able to tell my sister about it and she got one for her mother in law!!!

anyone have a $30 off $60 they aren’t using? Not sure if I can use it on this or not.

    • anonymous

I tried a $10/$50 and it didn’t work. Not sure on the $30/$60

are there any good deals on the kindle fire right now? anyone have the hd6 or hd7? any big difference in size/price?

    • Jessica

Just bought the kindle fire hd 6 from kmart yesterday for $80. So far, I like it. Especially for the price I paid. You can surf the web from it.

TY! TY! This is NOT the first time I have gotten something I could not have otherwise, thanks to Hip2Save! Never could justify the cost of a kindle but now I can take advantage of the Prime Mbrshp Lending Library! That alone will more than cover the cost of the Kindle in several months time. It was a Christmas gift from Hip2Save to me!

  7. Lena

Off topic for the kohls rebate (small kitchen appliances) do you have to send a separate form for each item, can everything go in one envelope. IThanks for any help.

  8. Donna

don’t forget you can often borrow e-books from the library and there are many Kindle books available for free everyday from sites like Bookbub.

  9. Ashley

I just ordered mine! I hate waiting on rebates though…. is Staples pretty good about theirs? I just completed the form online….

  10. Crystal

I got one, but I hope the rebate works and works quickly so I can get the prepaid card. I have never done rebates with Staples before. Also, this one is “with offers”, so it displays advertisements on the home and lock screens. Not sure how intrusive this is, but I read it after I purchased it. Anyone know if Staples is reliable with their rebates? If it all works out, this is a great gift for my mom!

    • Kimberly

I’ve not had any issues with staples rebates at all.

  11. Jen

    Savingstar.com has 6% cashback or ebates.com has 2% cashback.

    • Pat

Jen, thanks for the heads-up on SavingStar! I was going to use ebates, never think about using SS for online shopping… every little bit helps.

  12. tammy

I had the older version for 3 years and it just died so this is perfect timing! I loved it beacause the battery life is so long compared to my Kindle Fire. If you are just going to use it to read books this is perfect.

  13. Kimberly

Is there a limit on the rebates? I want to buy one and so does my mom. Just making sure I do it right!

    • Jen

It says there is a limit of 10 rebates per name/address/household

  14. Paola F

Big thank you for posting this amazing offer. We were clueless on what to buy for mothers in law this year and we just bought one!!! Yes, scratch off the list!

  15. Rachel

Is the rebate only for this basic model? I have had my eye on the paperwhite model for awhile now.

  16. Lea

I purchased this as a Santa gift for myself (THANK YOU COLLIN!). When I checked-out on Staples.com it showed that it was eligible for the $30 Visa GC. I picked up the Kindle in store yesterday and there was no information on the receipt regarding the gift card. When I have done Easy Rebates in the past there usually is. I asked and he said to go online. I entered everything in when I got home, it said to expect 8-11 weeks (ugh) and 24 hours later I got an email saying that the rebate was denied because the product UPC did not match and was invalid. Has anyone successfully received this rebate, or at least gotten farther in the process than I did?

    • Rachel

Yes! Contact Staples (I’d call, not chat online or e-mail) and they’ll take care of it. They did for me.

    • NicoleM

I had the same problem! It never even asked for me to enter a UPC when I submitted the rebate. Will have to call. They called two days ago to tell us that mine had been returned by Fed Ex because I hadn’t supplied a house number to deliver to, only street name…which also wasn’t true. Thankfully they are reshipping it. The Staples website was not cooperating well with me that day!

    • Crystal

I had the same experience and sent an email about the UPC. This is the reply I received: “I do apologize for the invalid rebate status you are seeing. I was able to locate a rebate for you. I do see it is invalid for missing the SKU/UPC of the product purchased. If you could please provide me with the Zip code of where the product was shipped to, I would gladly update and validate the rebate for you.”
