Still waiting for Costco membership deals…

  2. Michelle W

First time I’ve seen it for renewal.

  3. Laurie

I’m sorry,I just don’t understand why anyone would pay to shop there even with a $20-$25 gift card

    • Priscilla

Discount on gas. My husband likes the discounts on meat.

      • Laurie

We don’t have a gas station at our sams club.

    • Shanshan

I used to think that way. For our town they have the cheapest gas price, plus the rotisserie chicken is only $4.99 ($7.99 elsewhere) when we don’t feel like having pizza again. They also have good quality furniture at decent prices. Some people like them for cheap generic vitamins etc.

Even so, I think membership should be free, or $10 the most. They overcharge on lots of things like soda drinks, the most expensive in town.

    • Monika

Thank you for saying that. My hubby got free membership for a year from his boss, sowe went there about three times, ended up frustrated not buying anything except for a jar of pesto. Can someone explain why you pay to be a member? Is it worth it? Why? /PS Hubby, I and the kids don’t eat processed foods so ‘not tempted by any of those deals if that’s why Sam’s club is so popular?/

      • Tara

Besides the cheap gas, for us they have the cheapest milk in town. I buy yogurt, produce, frozen chicken breast and bread there. They also have awesome deals on clothes. I got my husband dress shirts for 10.00 that retail for 90.00. I think they were Perry Ellis. I also buy toiletries and cleaning supplies there. I love to coupon but I also sometimes hate tracking down the best deal on stuff so it’s easier for me to buy it this way I love their Ecos laundry detergent and it’s very cheap. They also will do virtual coupons throughout the year where they take 3.00 the toilet paper you are buying etc. We don’t buy much processed food either but I think what I save yearly is worth the fee to shop there.

      • Ashley

We don’t eat processed foods either. I do have a sams club membership and I generally only buy a few things- rotisserie chickens, lettuce and hummus. My daughter has a pet rabbit and he eats a head of green leaf lettuce every day, and my family eats about 4 a week. 3 heads at my local grocery store, which happens to be a military commissary, is $2.99. A 6 head pack at sams club is $3.99. The sams club heads of lettuce are bigger too. Big tubs of hummus are about .50 cheaper than buying the same amount of hummus in smaller tubs.

My husband figured that after the membership, we are saving a bit over $80 a year just on lettuce alone. Gas is really cheap there too, so I usually get gas when I go to buy lettuce also.

      • meg

What does processed food have to do with it? They have great produce…milk…eggs…butter…cheese…etc. good deals on clothes…cleaning products…books…furniture.. electronics…jewelry…paper products…fresh cooked foods..almost anything you can think of.

      • Melanie

I used to feel the same way until I got a membership last year from Groupon. We too don’t eat processed foods (not a lot anyway) but I honestly feel the savings more than make up for the membership cost.

You cannot beat their prices on cheese. I buy a huge chunk of Parmesan for about 8 bucks where at my local grocery store it is about five dollars for a tiny little chunk. I also love their rotisserie chicken, their frozen chicken breasts, seafood, meat. We also buy our liquor here as well.

One thing that surprised me is how much clothing we have actually brought here the past year. You never know what they’re going to have but for example, my husband works outside and loves the dry fit T-shirts.I picked up the Nike brand for $6 each ( usually around $20). most every time I go I seem to buy some piece of clothing that we actually need.

      • Jennifer

Produce, cheese, wine, vitamins, fuel. Seriously. Check out their prices and you’ll find they’re cheaper on a bag of apples or pound of berries than anywhere else (except maybe Costco, which we don’t have in our area?). Also find great deals on home goods when I need them–scored an electric pressure washer there last summer for $59 les than Amazon!

    • Shannon

I like it for the click and pull. I put in my order online, they shop for me, and I pay for and pick up my order at a time that is convenient for me! Totally worth it!

    • gablee88

We have a membership because there are a lot of products I like to buy at Sams that aren’t available in other stores, also you cannot beat the price on meat and gas. My husband and I only get paid once a month, so when we are paid I go and buy all my meat for the month then freeze it. It really helps with my grocery budget.

    • Crystal

The main benefit of membership for me is prescription savings. I have the Sams plus account you save 40% on prescriptions if you don’t have insurance or if your insurance doesn’t cover the medicine. I get them to check all prescriptions both ways and sometimes it’s cheaper to use the Plus 40% vs. what my co pay would be for things that are actually covered. (ex. $6 vs. $15 copay) and I save almost $50 on a drug that isn’t covered by ins.

      • llc

You don’t have to have a membership to use the Pharmacy.

        • Crystal

No, you don’t but the additional 40% off is only available to Sam’s business and Sam’s plus memberships.

    • Andrea

We get all our cheeses there. Most are about 50% cheaper. Big tubs of ricotta cheese, Kerry gold cheese and butter, aged chedders, etc. spices are a lot cheaper and fresh veg. Wine is cheaper by 1-5.00 a bottle too.

    • Brittany

I split the member ship with my sister so it ends up much cheaper. I buy toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, the large quantities are convenient and the price is pretty comparable to sale prices elsewhere. And their spinach artichoke dip is delicious! Also…my kids love the free samples hahaha! I always shop around lunch time just for the samples.

    • Neena

$2.00 gasoline and inexpensive car repair. Also best prices on car tires 🙂

    • Cat

Yep, what the others said. For me personally, I regularly buy gas, produce and cheese. Husband has gotten decent deals on cases of motor oil, washer fluid, and especially antifreeze. For the, the gas savings alone more than pays for the membership.

    • Amy

They have some great specialty items that our family loves. You can make up the cost by savings with buying in bulk.

    • jan

Hmm? Well, we save a ton on meat, diapers, tp, and many other things…

  4. Tiffany

Does this apply to business memberships too?

  5. Edy

There Is some discounts in some items they deduct at register I had 3 off chicken wings and 3 off 2 packages of lunchables and 3 off air wick package also they give points for every 500 you spend you get 10 dlrs I had 60 dlrs that I used towards jackets but yes agree membership should be less

  6. Mark

    Thank You

  7. Allie

I am not able to enter my email address. There is only the option to click share, which I did. No box for email address either before or after the sharing. Is this working for everyone else?

    • hol

Same as you, Allie. Nothing happens after I click on the “f” to share on Facebook.

      • Allie

Hol, try pausing your AdBlock (if you have it) before you click “share”. That did the trick for me. The box showed up after I clicked “Share”.

    • hol

i just tried clicking on “no thanks” and there’s a box to enter your email!

      • hol

but the “no thanks” only gives you the $20.

Share feature is not giving $25. I even opened it externally out of facebook, was able to share onto my FB page, and still only $20.

      • Allie

The box did not show up for me. Maybe it is because I have AdBlock. I’ll try to disable that and see if it makes a difference.

    • Carrie

I had to go through my browser instead of doing it within the hip2save app. After sharing it asked for my email address.

  8. Janet

I can’t get it to work

    • Allie

Try disabling or pausing AdBlock if you have it installed. That worked for me.

  9. Jen

My membership isn’t up until May, I am wondering if this will make my new membership date Jan. 1 or of it will extend until May 2016?

    • Lis

Jen, I’ve extended ours as much as 6 months in advance. good luck.

  10. Angela

You really can save a lot of money shopping there depending on what you mainly shop there for. Buying in bulk for meats, pastas, rices, paper products etc. We went last weekend and my husband found camouflage cargo pants for $10. Great quality too. Many times a year they give instant savings on certain things that makes it even better.

  11. Judy Trac

    Recently renewed mine grrr

    • M.Stephens

They may take the coupon “late” and give you the gift card. Just print it and bring it to Customer Service. They did something similar for me a few months ago 🙂

  12. rachel

Diapers and gas are the main reasons we belong! Cake prices are the best in town too!

    • A

I love their cakes! When I left my last job due to us moving my work threw me a going away party & got a cake from them. It was surprisingly very good & decorated very nicely.

    • Mary

Their cakes are awesome and so cheap! I think I got 30 cupcakes for a birthday party for something crazy like $13 or $14 dollars. Everyone loved them!

      • Brittany

Yes, Sam’s is my go to place for cupcakes! It’s such a pain to try to make them nice myself. Sams are cheap and delicious!

  13. Susie

Just have to keep in mind that everyone out there is not a bargain shopper. Everybody has different priorities…and that is ok 🙂

    • Happymama

      Yes! Exactly 🙂

    • meg

? What are you referring to?

  14. Becca

After thinking it was ridiculous to pay to shop there for many years, I’ve now been a member for two years. I originally signed up with a great deal and got a gift card and several coupons for free stuff, so it really made the offer attractive. My staples to get there are eggs, honey, maple syrup, Quaker oatmeal, Sargento cheese sticks, and sometimes bananas, apples, milk and loaves of French bread. Usually I stick to the basics. I probably break even or save a little money per year, but it does reduce my grocery visits and in turn, probably saves me in that way as well. Granted, I live in an area with few grocery options. If I had access to Mennonite bulk food stores (like I previously lived close to in PA), I’d probably drop the membership.

  15. Lisa

Sam’s offers full refund on membership if you do not feel you really benefitted from using it. 🙂

  16. Jessica

Awesome!! Thanks i needed to renew this month. What a great deal!!!

  17. M.Stephens

Thank you! The reason that we choose to shop at Sam’s Club & BJ’s is that they have a ton of organic products that are way cheaper almost 30% than the supermarkets. I can get organic chicken for less $1.99 lb. They also carry a huge selection of Gluten Free products which we have to buy for two of our children The prices are so much cheaper 45% for the G-Free products. I was a couponer for a long time. I found that choosing to eat “clean” and gluten free can be done at a considerable discount at these big box stores.

  18. monmabla

Thank you! Our membership JUST expired and I was holding out for a deal hoping they’d offer one for previous members! 🙂 I run an in-home daycare and I am very thankful for having Sam’s club only 15 min away!

    • nicolegammeter

      You are welcome! 🙂

  19. Caitlin

I’m so glad I didn’t renew in December when they asked if I wanted to renew before the holidays. Now I get a $25 gift card. I would have never known. Thanks so much!

    • nicolegammeter

      You’re so welcome, Caitlin! 🙂

  20. Linda

Sam’s brand toilet paper is the best, and so much cheaper than Charmin. The price for Pledge at Sam’s cannot be beat, even with a coupon, at other stores. I also like the virtual coupons.

  21. Kimberly

Does anyone know if SAMs club is closed for the holiday today?

    • Anne

Probably i called and know one answered the phone

  22. Heather

Costco, for me, all the way!!!!

    • meg

Wish there was a costco near me! Boo!

  23. Angie

So can I renew my membership now if it’s not up until April? Or does it need to be already expired?

    • Doreen

I just got back and has to be 45 days before it expires . my expires in July and I couldn’t to the deal.

  24. EricaW

Can I do the renewal in the store and still receive $20 gift card???

  25. Karen

How much does a membership cost?

    • Just Me

$40. They have student and military memberships where u get a gift card back! Buried on their website!! Student is $15 gc back. Need a student I’d and email

    • kate

      $45

  26. Renee

    Great produce prices.

  27. Babzko

How is it different from Costco, price wise, and product quality?

    • Lana

Our daughter is a Costco member and we are Sam’s members. I am seeing that they are very similar but there some products that one carries and the other does not. We stay with Sam’s because of their good mozzarella cheese and the big packs of pepperoni since we make pizza at home every week. Our SIL is a New York Sicilian and he prefers Costco for their specialty cheeses which we would not be interested in. Also, some hate the weird milk jugs at Costco that are very difficult to pour from.

    • Stephanie

Our Costco seems to have a lot more healthy/organic food than our local Sam’s. More selection too.

    • MARGOT

I actually belong to both Sam’s Club and Costco, and at one time (when I lived in the East) belonged to BG’s as well. I like Costco best because they strive to give you the best value for money, not just the cheapest price. They do an incredible job on the Kirkland brand merchandise. I haven’t had the same experience with either Sam;s or Walmart’s brands – they may be cheap but the quality is lacking. As far as name brand products, I find that Sam’s and Costco are comparable, a few cents higher or lower either way. Actually, even there Costco negotiates a really good set of features for the specific models of appliances they carry. I give Sam’s kudus for honoring their car battery warranty TWICE after the battery failed just before the warranty ran out. Nobody has mentioned appliances. I can buy a printer or a microwave at Costco and know that they have a limited selection but a good deal. Great return policies at both Sam’s and at Costco. In my area, Costco has more of the organics and more of the slightly upscale items. And I find enough different stuff at Sam’s during the year to keep me checking in there once a month, or buying gas when the lines are too long at Costco (and splitting a membership with my daughter). Oh yes, a business membership at Sam’s lets you shop at 7am, a BIG convenience since Costco doesn’t open until 10am. Note to Lana – the milk jug tops vary from store to store depending on the milk producers used locally. In our area (NorCal) we prefer the Costco ones. And the Costco rotisserie chickens are $4.99 each, but several ounces heavier than the Sam’s ones. YMMV.

  28. Denise

They also have a large variety of gift cards, some with deep discounts.

  29. krista

I had a hard time getting it to work in Chrome. I switched to Internet Explorer and had no problem. I just received my email and had to print it from Internet Explorer. Hope this helps if you are having problems getting it to work.

Glad to see an offer for a renewal membership! I personally think the membership is well worth it for medicines, water softener salt, bottled water, frozen snacks, chips, toys, as well as other things. I have found on certain items, its still a better deal than I can get with coupons. It also depends on what stores are in your area that are available to you.

  30. Jill

    Diapers!!

  31. Tori

We picked up MS Office software there cheaper than elsewhere & my daughter needed it for college. She also goes through a LOT of fruit which is pretty reasonable there. Better that than junk food. Yeah $45 is a bit pricey for me since my mom has a membership but for $20 I’m okay with the year of access. My mom has bought her last 2 large screen TVs there – they delivered & set up. I think her latest is a 65″ not something I would want to do myself. Also was the cheapest place to get a bed rail set.

    • Tori

PS I don’t shop there every week but if you only go once a month you only need to save $2.00 per trip to be ahead when they have a deal like this. Easy to do even if you only buy a couple of items each time.

  32. Susan Locy

I Love Sam’s Club and I Love coupons and deals.

  33. Tammym0330

We have twins and their Simply Right baby formula was by far the best deal around. We loved it because the tubs were huge and the price per ounce was less than any other store 😃

  34. shelly

Cheese sticks and gogurts are cheaper than Aldi or Kroger’s with coupons. 16oz bags of broccoli for $1.30. Each. Frozen 3# bag of blueberries and 1.50 5 hour energy shots. Those are a few staples that my family of 6 can’t get cheaper elsewhere.

  35. Denise

It let me post to Facebook but never received an email. 😕

    • Andrea

I haven’t gotten an email either. Does anyone know why? I shared on Facebook.

  36. Debbie DeCarlo

It won’t let me enter my email address. Just goes to share on Facebook.

  37. Lynne

Never got an email for the giftcard. Anyone else get theirs?

  38. LuLu Garcia

I’m not sure this is still valid. It says it is no longer available to share.

  39. Heather

I got the email for $25 after sharing and when I go to the link it says no longer valid. Did anyone actually use this in club?

  40. Jess

Can someone give me the code that used to be on this website. Now it does not appear even though the offer is valid through 1/31.

  41. diana

It says its no longer available, and at the bottom says offer good til Jan 31

  42. Melisa

I went to my email today to print this from the email they sent after I completed the steps on Jan 1, and I too get a link that says no longer valid instead of my voucher. Has anyone else resolved this?

  43. Olivia

Went to Sam’s Club to do this and click the link in front of them. It was embarrassing to see it was no longer valid. Had a great customer service lady, she got the Manger and we went through it. At the end they gave me 25 dollars from a different promotion. Worth asking local Sam’s club.

    • Susan

Do you still happen to have a copy of the voucher for SAMs club? Thanks
      suerenea@hotmail.com

  44. Victoria

We got our email almost immediately…printed it off on the 10th and used it on the 15th. If it would help anyone, I still have a copy of the voucher…I don’t know if the codes are a one time use, but I could take a pic and it might be worth a try to print it and show it in your club. Voucher just says to print and bring in to the local club…

    • julie

I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of the voucher, all of them had the same code. ahsom2@yahoo.com, thanks so much.

    • Kendra T

Can you send to me as well? radarluv80@hotmail.com
Just learned of this offer today and really would LOVE to get another membership, ours ended in August, been waiting on something to make it worth while to buy again.

    • Christina

Can you please send me a copy of the voucher as well? I tried to print mine off this morning and it said that the link was no longer valid as well. cphnoles@gmail.com

  45. Ginger

I had the same issue with the voucher no longer being valid. There is nothing in the fine print about :”while supplies last” or anything.. crossing my fingers that they honor this.

  46. Susan

Can someone please send me a copy of the voucher too! I received the email but now it says error when I try to open it where it says ” get offer”.
    suerenea@hotmail.com
    Thank you

  47. Audrey

I also tried to get the voucher and was unable to get it. If possible can someone please send me a copy. audrey7200@yahoo.com
    Thank

  48. Kelsi

So, this says that the offer is good until the 31st, and I cannot get to the link. I looked on the Sam’s club site, and can’t find the offer anywhere. Has anyone else found it? Email me! Kelsi_ard@yahoo.com
